I'm trying to connect my samsung galaxy s6 to my macbook pro to run my apps from android studio; however, when I connect my phone to my mac via the usb cable that came with the phone, i get a notification on my phone that it is charging but my macbook and android studio do not detect it.
I have usb debugging on.
Kies and filetransfer don't work.
I cant see the directory in finder even though I have show external disks and hard disks checked.
My phone and mac are both running the latest versions of android and OSX.
Turns out that the cord provided by samsung is with mac computers due to OEM compatibility issues. Using a different cord with correct OEM data transfer compatibility will fix the issue.
I solve it by using android file transfer. Download it from android official website https://www.android.com/filetransfer/
Install it on Macbook Pro and connect your phone with cable and ROCK!
Try PdaNet, it can help you find your device's driver version and match with your device.
I'm also having this issue. I've got an s6 edge and a new macbook retina pro; so it's definitely not an issue of "old mac" to new samsung.
Edit: Fixed it by chatting with samsung.
From your phone dial *#0808# then check the MTP option to enabled. Hit reboot.
Also make sure to install smart switch on your computer, available at http://www.samsung.com/ca/support/smartswitch/
When the smartswitch window appears, hit the drop down menu, and then click the blue folder icon. That should do it.
I tried with another USB cable and it worked. Its the problem with defult USB cable coming along with mobile.
I was facing the issue with Samsung Note-8. My macbook pro was not detecting my phone. So, i just tried with another cable and it worked. there is no need to download samsun
I want to test my android app on my android device, which is a Samsung Galaxy Trend Lite (also called Samsung Galaxy Fresh) GT-S7390. However, Samsung doesn't provide the OEM drivers for that device! Hence, so far, Eclipse doesn't recognize my device when I plug it in my computer.
Could I maybe install drivers of another, related device? Would it work? If yes, which device would be the closest to mine in that respect? (Here are some info on it : http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_fresh_s7390-5841.php)
Thanks in advance for your insights!
You just can try to install Samsung Kies. There're all necessary drivers implemented.
Otherwise you could try to install the Samsung USB Driver from the developer sction:

I have two devices
1. Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830
2. Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i
If I am connecting the 1st device to the emulator then it gets connected and working fine as a debugger.
But If I am connecting the 2nd device to the emulator of the same Computer then it not getting connected to the emulator.
And on the notification of 1st device i.e. Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 looks like this:
where as on the second device i.e. Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i, The USB Debugging Connected notification is missing.
I have marked Setting ---> Application ---> Development ---> USB Debugging as Checked. Then to why I am getting this issue.
Please if any one know about this, then please let me know to resolve this problem. I want to use Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i as a debugging device.
No need to root the device, install google universal usb drivers from the SDK manager.
I was wondering if the sprint galaxy nexus supports the usb host mode? As stated here it is supposed to be available on android versions above 3.1. The galaxy nexus uses ice cream sandwich(version 4+) so it should have it. This video shows someone using the galaxy nexus with a usb mouse attached, so the stock galaxy nexus version should have this capability. I was just wondering if Sprint changed the kernel in someway that disabled the usb host mode functionality. This site states that the galaxy s from sprint has "Mass storage device, USB Host, USB charging" as a feature but for the galaxy nexus from sprint the only feature listed is "USB charging."
I only realized this might be a missing feature because when I tried to set up a small test app using the Usb host mode api no device that I connected was ever recognized. I tried pluggging the device in after device startup and before device startup. I was reading the logcat wirelessly as is defined here so I could moniter what would happen when I was plugging a usb device in and removing it. Logcat displayed nothing. Any explanation or links to other sites saying that the Sprint galaxy nexus does or does not support usb host mode would be much appreciated(only Sprint, I beleive Verizon does support it, but I have a Sprint test device). Thanks.
Stock Galaxy Nexus works for me with USB Host mode. Been able to use the Ant+ receiver with no problems.
I've been learning android development and been trying to get the app on my samsung galaxy tablet but have been having some problems. I have the device connected to my computer and i can access it thought the substandard samsung app and through explorer but when i try to send the app to the device using eclipse it just defaults to the emulator.
My pc is running windows 7, i have the android and galaxy tab packages installed on eclipse and i also have the device set up with type of galaxy tab.
When i plug in my HTC Desire it works perfectly fine and i can view apps on the device, it just seems to be the galaxy tablet.
Anyone else had this problem or know of any solutions?
Thanks a lot, been frustrating me for ages now.
The developer tools for Samsung Galaxy tab, including drivers are here. This may be what you need, for your work.
