I'm planning on designing quite a complicated app and I find drawing out the general layout of the windows on paper just isn't efficient, is there any useful software that digitizes this process?
I know I could just use the layout designer in Eclipse but it seems a bit clunky. Are there any alternatives?
Edit: An example of what I am looking for is Balsamiq but I would prefer a free solution if possible.
Why not use Cordova or Phonegap or Appery.io plus Zepto.js and Jquery Mobile to make a usable walk-through application? (has basic interactions, but no real variables)
Then, you can run it in the emulator and give a real demonstration of some of the basics.
You can copy/paste code from the JQuery site and use their Themer for easy to use CSS. No coding skill really required here.
It would also a give your development team a huge head-start as it is much more clear more than just the desired look and functionality, but a certain degree on the feel (UX) components as well.
Visio / Inkscape / Illustrator are good for making wireframes as well, but I find them to be much more tedious than just doing it in a mobile webview most of the time. Loading images for custom buttons and such is also very easy.
Here is a good example of interactive wireframes using Inkscape:
http://eclipsesource.com/blogs/2012/07/03/wireframing-inkscape-javascript/
I have used Axure RP Pro and Balsamiq Mockups for mobile wireframes.

Hey I am new to GameDevelopment and just took up an assignment to make a simple game for Android.
I am stuck with the very first step of choosing the GameEngine.
Its a very simple game with one actor which can be dragged left - right to skip the obstacles falling from the top.
I will need Collision detection, and may be {gravity}, on drag listeners also.
Please help me by suggesting which engine i should go for.
I prefer open source and need to end this game very very soon, so please suggest accordingly.
Thanks in advance.
I definitely vote for LibGDX as I mentioned in here: How to create an Android 2D game?
LibGDX is very user-friendly, has a really good documentation with official wiki, and it's also multiplatform with desktop being one of them - no need for emulator or device to test the majority of the functionality and tiny changes, because it can run as a desktop app. Makes the development much faster.

What are few of the best mobile prototyping tools, and what is the best approach to mobile prototype
I would like to create something code free at first and then start design more stuff with the same or more advanced tool.
Try this article it describes the best design tools for mobile design.
Also you can use more powerful tools:
Balsamiq
Proto.io
I prefer using Justinmind Prototyper, the UI is very close to what is on device and provides a good feel to the end-user about the application overview and flow.
Would add fluidui.com to the mix, drag and drop with full iOS, Android and Win8 Libraries, or upload your own images and ability to test transitions and interactions live on a phone (via QR code scan)
I'm developer of MockingBot, we recently launched a new version with brand new design, i think you should give it a try.
Maybe its a bit too late but I just released http://www.protocoder.org under MIT license, give it a try!
MockFlow
Tiggzi
Really like the Mockflow. Got a free to use plan for a fast little project and only 69$ for a year to use it in business. I think its possible to set up a GUI Design in something like a year. For any Changes you got Photoshop(Gimp) ^^.
Try http://xiffe.com
It has a drag and drop interface and support for app workflow simulation by linking screens through button clicks. Supports iOS, Android and Windows Phone.

Do we, Android developers, have any tool like iOS developers have which can help us make story board of all activities and links between them?
Those who have seen iOS story board tool will know what I am talking about. It would be really cool as we would be able to visualise the UI logic.
PS. check my storyboard tag
iOS storyboards allow you to define the flow of your app without (almost) writing a single line of code using the Interface Builder.
I don't think there's similar tool for Android. You'll need to create the layouts separately and then glue them calling startActivity (or its relatives).
I don't know that tool well, but I think that you are looking for something like fluidUI
There are dozens of similar tools and the best of them imho is still pen + paper.
Edit : Jimu looks like it will be perfect for that role.

I am interested in starting Mobile application Development. There are many suggestions on internet but,I wanted to have some starting guidelines from professional People out there like how they do it and what they use also
1.I want to develop Android Applications can you suggest me Simulator as well as good Starting Point(like links to tutorials)?
2.I have worked on c/c++/c# so is it going to be hard to learn Android?
I know this is a bit theoretical
question that may invoke long
discussions but i wanted to set
starting point not only for me but for
others who see this thread so that
they do not have to post question,Yet
get answer that how it is
professionally done
You need the android SDK (including emulator)
You should learn "android" as an operating system / middleware, but the applications are written in Java (using android SDK as well). The tutorials and documentation that are in the android developers' site are pretty good and will give you the basics, but you should learn Java in order to create applications on android.
Unlike other "Documentation sites", the android documentation is really really helpful and easy to understand for new-comers.
p.s. I am ignoring native code and C libraries in purpose.

I'm a Flash developer looking to get into Android/iPhone game development.
Android is more important to me, because I don't have any iOS device to test on, and I don't really like apple either :P (could you blame a flash developer for that?)
What is a good game framework for developing android games? Multi-platform is always a huge bonus but not everything for me.
I've been looking at Rokon and it seems ok, but the tutorials/examples are a little sketchy.
You should also give AndEngine a shot.
This question on GameDev may provide some insight. :)
If you're familiar with Flash, you might want to look into Adobe AIR for Android.
Now cocos2dx is also great ,it is in c++ so it give the FPS also you can easily port to any other OS. It is also difficult to start, after learn it provide more promising then any other engine.
http://www.cocos2d-x.org/
Thank you.
I like to use libGDX. Uses Java, documentation has gotten better, and quite a few games available for it.
