I want to set scrollbar position becomes view visible.
I use
mView.setScrollY(150);
mView.setVisbility(View.VISIBLE);
But it's not worked. View stay visible but scroll position is 0.
Also i try to use a post :
mView.post(new Runnable(){
#Override
public void run() {
mView.setScrollY(150);
mView.setVisbility(View.VISIBLE);
}
});
But now view was blinked( i see a start scrolly - 0 and after such ms(blink) scrollY becomes 150);
Any Ideas?

However, in my Fragment that has the RecyclerView, I want to be able to scroll to a specific item in my list (i.e. item 3 out of a list of 10 items). When I call
recyclerView.getLayoutManager().scrollToPosition(2);
The list goes into an infinite scroll. I can't figure out how to go to the specific item itself.
Furthermore, how can I make sure that the specific item is centered in the screen? I am using LinearSnapHelper to snap the items in the center of the screen as I scroll, but LinearSnapHelper does not seem to work when setting positions programmatically.

Android - Adding an item to a scroll view and scroll programmatically

I have an empty scrollview. I create with inflater a text view, add it to the ScrollView programmatically and then do:
rsView.smoothScrollBy((viewLeft + viewWidth / 2) - center, 0);
BUT viewLeft and viewWidth are 0 as the view is not measured yet. Any suggestions on how to make it scroll the view properly?
In this post: getWidth() and getHeight() of View returns 0 you have a lot of good options to solve this problem. Particularly I use this one:

A ViewTreeObserver gets fired for different drawing events. Usually the OnGlobalLayoutListener is what you want for getting the measurement, so the code in the listener will be called after the layout phase, so the measurments are ready:

I'm not sure how you're calculating center, but if it depends on the new TextView's dimensions, you'll need to move the calculation to the Runnable, as well.

setSelected to listview item at coordinates after scrolling

I have a listview that has a fixed top & bottom padding. What I want to to is
When scrolling is stopped, check the coordinates at the middle of the
listview and assign selected state to true.
What I have tried to do is using
AbsListView.OnScrollListener to check if the scroll stateis SCROLL_STATE_IDLE, then do the assigning.
pointToPosition to get the item index, this is the adapter position
Use getChildAt(index) and setSelected(true)
The problem here is when I do getChildAt, at some point, the app will be broken, maybe because the getChildAt only works with visible items. I have tried following approaches too:
Used getView's getAdapter then assigning, but no luck.
Doing calculation with getFirstVisiblePosition, then using getChildAt but the issue here is the number of visible items which are not constant.

Found a solution while doing another project. I did not specify what type of View I should be applying selected state to. Following is my solution.

Android fragment animation first time stuck

I am doing an animation inside a fragment.
I have 2 views on top of each other, one of them set on View.GONE.
when I press a button I want my 2nd fragment to translate animation from the bottom to top.
I am doing it fine and it's working great,
the problem is that in my first run, the xml view is gone, but he is in the same Y he is suppose to be.
so the first animation I do isn't doing anything, just switch from GONE to VISIBLE, after that, I press dismiss and the fragment goes away and comes back just like I want too.
my problem is just the first run.
how can I set my view Y to be 100% below my screen?

You can use the onGlobalLayout event to set the position of the view.

This event happens when your views get their actual size and position before being drawn to the screen. However, they happen every time the view is drawn so you must remember to remove the listener right after the first time.

First time you can add the 'yOffset' value to the view orginal points
moreMenuFrameLayout.setY(currentYpostition + yOffset)
and this will place the view to the bottom of the screen. You can enable the visibility when the animation starts.

Is there a way to programmatically scroll a scroll view to a specific edit text?

I have a very long activity with a scrollview. It is a form with various fields that the user must fill in. I have a checkbox half way down my form, and when the user checks it I want to scroll to a specific part of the view. Is there any way to scroll to an EditText object (or any other view object) programmatically?
Also, I know this is possible using X and Y coords but I want to avoid doing this as the form may changed from user to user.

In my opinion the best way to scroll to a given rectangle is via View.requestRectangleOnScreen(Rect, Boolean). You should call it on a View you want to scroll to and pass a local rectangle you want to be visible on the screen. The second parameter should be false for smooth scrolling and true for immediate scrolling.

My EditText was nested several layers inside my ScrollView, which itself isn't the layout's root view. Because getTop() and getBottom() were seeming to report the coordinates within it's containing view, I had it compute the distance from the top of the ScrollView to the top of the EditText by iterating through the parents of the EditText.

The above answers will work fine if the ScrollView is the direct parent of the ChildView. If your ChildView is being wrapped in another ViewGroup in the ScrollView, it will cause unexpected behavior because the View.getTop() get the position relative to its parent. In such case, you need to implement this:

I know this may be too late for a better answer but a desired perfect solution must be a system like positioner. I mean, when system makes a positioning for an Editor field it places the field just up to the keyboard, so as UI/UX rules it is perfect.
What below code makes is the Android way positioning smoothly. First of all we keep the current scroll point as a reference point. Second thing is to find the best positioning scroll point for an editor, to do this we scroll to top, and then request the editor fields to make the ScrollView component to do the best positioning. Gatcha! We've learned the best position. Now, what we'll do is scroll smoothly from the previous point to the point we've found newly. If you want you may omit smooth scrolling by using scrollTo instead of smoothScrollTo only.
NOTE: The main container ScrollView is a member field named scrollViewSignup, because my example was a signup screen, as you may figure out a lot.

If you want to use this block for all EditText instances, and quickly integrate it with your screen code. You can simply make a traverser like below. To do this, I've made the main OnFocusChangeListener a member field named focusChangeListenerToScrollEditor, and call it during onCreate as below.

Examining Android source code, you can find that there already is a member function of ScrollView– scrollToChild(View) – that does exactly what is requested. Unfortunatelly, this function is for some obscure reason marked private. Based on that function I've written following function that finds the first ScrollView above the View specified as a parameter and scrolls it so that it becomes visible within the ScrollView:

Also make sure the view is a direct child of scrollView, otherwise you would get getTop() as zero. Example: getTop() of edittext which is embedded inside TextInputLayout would return 0. So in this case, we have to compute getTop() of TextInputLayout which is a direct child of ScrollView.

The best solution I've got so far is to use a combination of inset callbacks and requestRectangleOnScreen method.

We are setting a callback on a root view to make sure we get called. Insets could be consumed before our view in question received them, so we have to do additional work here.
Now it's almost easy:

You can get rid of a focus check. It's there to limit number of calls to requestRectangleOnScreen. I use post to run an action after scrollable parent scheduled scroll to a focused view.
