[android]Error import existing project into other computer - android

I import the file into my other computer and it appears like this. It run properly in my previous computer. I am using this method
File->Import->General->Existing Projects into Workspace, Next
Select root directory: /path/to/project Projects-> Select All
UNCHECK both "Copy projects into workspace" and "Add project to
working sets" Finish
==================================================================================
I get this error:
The project was not built since its build path is incomplete. Cannot find the class file for java.lang.Object. Fix the build path then try building this project
The type java.lang.Object cannot be resolved. It is indirectly referenced from required .class files
Unable to resolve target 'android-7'

This is very common problem. this might be because , your project's .class file is in readonly mode when you move it to the another computer. I suggest you to delete that .class file from the project and clean the project , then run it, it will surely solve your problem.

for "unable to resolve target" error you might double check the following:
Do you have Android2.1 or your specific android library in your project? If not, right click on your project->properties->Android (from left side of dialog)-> Select Android 2.1(or other version) as the Project build Target (from right side of the dialog).
Also, make sure project.properties file contains target target=android-7(or your version).
Also, check if "uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion" contains the correct version in AndroidManifest.xml file

This problem occurs if your JRE is not configured in project built path.
To configure JRE:
In Eclipse:
Right click on your project and select Build Path -> Configure Build Path
Go to Libraries tab click Add Library.
Select JRE System Library and related Android Library click Next
Then select JRE from options as per your requirement. Click Finish

I have already tried cleaning the project and I get the same errors. Only the 'DashboardActivity' project is the one getting this error and my other projects work fine. In my properties Order and Export section there is a part that says "Unable to get system libary for this project"
I know there should be a proper android.jar file here but I don't see one.
Also, the android tools 'fix project properties' does nothing at all when I click on it.
I have the AndroidManifest.xml file as well.
Ever since I first went to clean my project it has created the file "proguard-project.txt" as well.
What can I do to fix this? Thanks in advance!
NOTE: now I can't acess the gen folder or bin folder (there is no little + for me to click on to open it) and now it's saying that R cannot be resolved to a variable) ???
Error while applying
Why don't you do this
Right click on Project Root folder > properties > Java BuildPath > Library Tab
Check whether any of library is missing (showing error with red cross)
if yes then add this library to your project
don't forget to CHECK it on Order and Export
Do one more thing
Right click on Project Root folder > properties > Android > set your Project Build Target
check any one target
Check your Android-sdk path from
Window > Preference > Android
I was also having these errors:
The project was not built since its build path is incomplete. Cannot find the class file for java.lang.Object.
and
The Project Properties Order and Export section has an error "Unable to get system library for this project"
I solved it by Right Clicking on the Project Root folder > properties > Android > set your Project Build Target and changed it to the highest target I could trust from working on other projects.
It has been 3 years since I had this project working. So I noticed when I was troubleshooting tonight, that the manifest did not have a targetSdkVersion, only a minSdkVersion of "8". So I had changed that to this:
After doing the above 2 things, all my errors were gone -- however (!) ... a bit later tonight, I was trying to export my project to an .apk. And Eclipse crashed. Upon re-opening it, Eclipse is super broken. I am about to do a re-boot my PC now - and thus need to finish posting this. I trust Eclipse will be back to normal. But the reason I am mentioning this is that I suspect I may need to re-install Eclipse as I have been getting other minor start-up errors when I open Eclipse. And the errors I had tonight in that app were very strange and unusual.

Android Studio Error "output path is not specified for modules"

I just recently upgraded to the newest version of Android Studio (0.1.1), but I also used Android Studio to relocate my project to my Dropbox folder. So, I'm not exactly sure which one is causing this problem. When I build or try to run my project I get this error:
Cannot start compilation: the output path is not specified for modules
"actionbarsherlock",
"EmPubLite-EmPubLite".
Specify the output path in Configure Project.
I can't find any reference to "Configure Project" and the Project Structure option under File no longer works in this release.
Solution for Android Studio version < 1.0 :
You just have to go to your Modules settings > Project and specify a "Project compiler output"
and make your modules inherit from project. (For that go to Modules > Paths > Inherit project.
Or you can specify your output for each module if you want.
In order to do so you just need to follow this steps:
Open Project structure (F4 on one of the modules in the project explorer)
Click on Project tab on the left
Define "Project compiler output:" as YOUR_PROJECT_PATH\out (or any folder you want)
Click on Modules tab on the left
Go over all your modules and verify that under the Paths tab the Compiler output is set to "Inherit project compile output path"
I ended up re-importing the project using Gradle and it's back to normal. Very weird issue.
this is a problem that I face in case I open my phonegap project with Android Studio and Webstorm.
They are IntelliJ-based project and I guess they are both writing the files in .idea
Reimporting the project is the solution.
got same error while using studio feature to import from GitHub repository.
I deleted the whole project and .. cloned it using git terminal and imported as new project ... studio prompted to add VCS root, accepted ....everything was fine afterwards. As #lordhong prompted.
I found this:
http://www.chrisdew.com/blog/2013/07/17/android-studio-nosuchmethoderror-lazystringarraylist/
it is realy help for me.
Thus, in my case, the problem was to have two libraries:
protobuf-2.4.1.jar
and new protobuf-2.5.0.jar
it resulted error:
APK path is not specified for module “Example-Example”
To correct this, rename file protobuf-2.4.1.jar to protobuf-2.4.1.jar.disabled
mv protobuf-2.4.1.jar protobuf-2.4.1.jar.disabled
How I finally managed to fix after hours!
File -> Project Structure -> Facets -> choose module's facet -> Packaging. Enter in APK Path absolute path to apk to be created: C:\workspace\MyCompany\MyProject\myProject.apk
Press ok and run your project

Red exclamation mark over the project in eclipse

I am trying to run a project but there is a red exclamation mark over the project name. When checked in Problems, its throwing an error "project is missing required library". The library is pointed to android.jar located in some path. When checked in package explorer, I found the android.jar in Android 2.3.1 folder structure of project in package explorer. The android.jar located in Android 2.3.1 folder is pointing to some other path. Is the build error occurring due to the difference in paths for android.jar files? I have imported the project. So, how should I modify the path which is shown in the problems window? I am newbie to android and so pls help me.
Thanks!!!
The easiest way to resolve this common problem is to re-associate your project with an SDK version. You do this by opening project properties, clicking on Android, select a different SDK version to that which is currently selected (if one is selected at all), click okay, and then repeat the process to switch back to the desired SDK version, if desired.
I tried Phillip's answer and it didn't work in my case. Another place to look is opening project properties and clicking on "Java Build Path" -- if your project used some external JARs, check to make sure the links haven't been broken. If they have, reimport them again and remove the missing ones.
Import your library through the option: File/ Import... / Android / Existing Android Code Into Workspace, and not by creating a New Project and referencing the other (if you did this way).
I had this same problem and solved that way. As example, there is a PDF which demonstrates how to import other projects [Look at the page 28] (The material are in Portuguese)

error when importing android projects into eclipse

currently i have difficulties trying to import the lynda.com android app development with java essential training exercise files into eclipse. I keep getting some java errors like this. Can someone help me out with this problem?
Currently im using
Android SDK r12
ADT 12 plugin for eclipse
JDK 7x64
JRE 7x64
LEclipse IDE for Java Developers 3.7 indigo
here's the error:
The project was not built since its build path is incomplete. Cannot
find the class file for java.lang.Object. Fix the build path, then try
building this project.
The type java.lang.Object cannot be resolved. It is indirectly
referenced from required .class files
(original screenshot below)
A little late on this, however after struggling with the issue myself I found a solution to the problem.
Right Click on the project --> Build Path --> Configure Build Path...
In the 'Source' tab, Select the project eg. 'myProject/src' --> Click OK.
Right Click on the project --> Android Tools --> Fix Project Properties
That should do it!
Have you tried changing your compiler to Java 5 instead of Java 7?
Also make sure that in the project settings that you're using Java 5.
Ryan,
I had the same problem and it was corrected by going to the project preferences(right click project -->preferences). Then go to "java build path" and click on the libraries tab. Look for your JRE lib in the list. In my case the system was unable to find it, but the entry was still there. Delete this and add a new one by clicking "add library" and select JRE System library. Then select the default system lib. Close out of the preferences window and then Right click on your project and go to android tools-->Fix project Properties. Clean your project and try building again.
This works
Project > Properties > Android > change the Build Target

Eclipse - HelloWorld - Android error?

I created a Hello world app but get this strange error:
The project cannot be built until the build path errors are resolved
I haven't changed the project, jut created it and tried to run it.
to avoid that annoying problem i have 3 solutions that worked for me.
Solution 1)
delete your generated R.java file
inside your gen/ folder
Solution 2)
a)Delete your project from Eclipse
(i said ONLY from Eclipse, uncheck option: Delete project
contents on disk)
b) import your project to Eclipse:
file > Import > Existing Projects into
Workspace (Look for your project
previously deleted from Eclipse) >
Finish.
Solution 3)
make Solution 1 then Solution 2
It is either a spurious message you can solve by forcing Eclipse to recompute its library paths
I found the resolution for this at Scott D. Strader's blog.
To summarize the solution I only needed to add a library to my project and then remove it to force Eclipse to perform the necessary actions to resolve the problem. I would post the detailed steps here but I don't want to steal his content.
The resolution was to force a resave of the selected projects (and their .classpath files):
Open the project properties
Select Java Build Path > Libraries
Add a new, arbitrary library (to be deleted later) > OK
Wait for the workspace to refresh (or force a refresh of the project)
The error(s) will go away
Remove the dummy library
Note: as the OP mentions, a simple restart of the IDE can be enough.
Or you actually miss one critical library like a JRE library:
I needed to add the JRE library to the project for it to run. Not sure if this was due to the updated version or something else…. Any way this fixed the issue:
Project > Properties
Java Build Path
Libraries tab
Click add library
Select JRE System Library
Next
Finish
Sounds like you are missing an import or a jar. In your project in the project explorer there should be a red x on the file icon that contains the error.
In addition to the listed answers, there is one other scenario I've seen this error appear when using the sample projects included with the Android SDK. For some reason, the generated R.java file can be invalid or corrupt. You can get around it by expanding the "gen" folder in the Package Explorer and deleting the R.java file. It will immediately get regenerated and the error goes away.
Right click on your project, choose "Build Path", "Configure Build Path" -> and choose Android 2.2, or that target you specified when you created your project
I have had similar issues. for me simply closing the emulator and re-running the project works
