You don't need to do anything for this. Just upload you new app with greater versionCode in the manifest with same key and package names. Google Play automatically does your job.

For update package name, release certificate should be the same, version shoul

I've got an app that needs developing cross platform with sporadic updates depending on season and to go with PR, etc.
I know I can set an initial availibility date for iPhone distribution and I can do the same for updates. However I cant seem to find if I can do this with the PlayStore. I'll need to time the initial release then time updates depending on seasons and would like to do this in advance.
Anyone know if its similar? If you know if similar can be done on Windows Phone OS too that would be an extra bonus! hehe
You can't. You have to submit your APK a few hours before you want the App to be available in the Play Store. Play Store does not provide a "publish from date".

Is it possible to change name of application after publishing it in Google Play?
I haven't published it yet but I'm going to do it.
Yes, you can change the name. You cannot change the package name.
Yes you can. Login into the Android Developers Console: http://developer.android.com/distribute/index.html
From the app you want to change from the list of the apps you have submitted.
On the bottom half of the package details tab you will see at Title field which you can update and it will change the name of your app.
If you have not published the app yet..then you can go to your project and change the name , sign the apk and upload it again.
You can change the app information at any point of time, without changing the version number of the app.

I have an application published in Google Play.
My application had no compatibility with some screen size (was not shown to all devices), so I fixed that issue.
Now I would like to publish the fixed application, but without requiring an update for the people that has already installed my application.
Is this possible just without increasing the version number and update the fixed APK? Or do I have to do anything else?
If I publish the update, how long will the new version take to be available in the market?
You CANNOT upload an updated .apk file without incrementing android:versionCode value. Google Play will not allow you to proceed with such upload.
It may take a couple of hours for your update to appear in Google Play.
You'll have to update the versionCode, but the versionName can stay the same.
So while it may be your second time you have uploaded your application, if the version name is the same as before, the user will not notice any difference.
No, you will get an error when you are uploading your new APK file in to Google Play without change versioncode.

I have a question, If I want to upload my Android App to Market and have it not display in the Play Store until ready to go live can I do that, Something like reserve the name and game style until ready to release.
Yes, when you open the Developer Console and start entering your app details, you can click Save and not Publish. When you're ready to go live, click Publish. This is how you reserve your package namespace. There is no unique constraint on app name, but there is one on package namespace.
As the application name doesn't need to be unique, there is no way of reserving it.
The apps will be identified by the package name your application use. So just develop your app and upload it when it is ready.

There's an existing App into the Android Market and due to some reasons our existing Key store has got corrupted and hence we aren't able to publish the updates for the same. How do we workaround this problem?
You have to make a new keystore for the application and publish it as a new one.
Sorry, if you have lost the key there is nothing you can do about it except publishing a new application
