I'm actually coding an app for Android and I need some help to do something.
I need to do a kind of popup message with this image: http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/9331/postitz.png. This image must have 2 TextView, one of them is a title and the other one is the message.
I have tried some options like Dialog with its own layout, own style, but the image fills all the screen instead of wrap the content of the TextViews. I have also tried to do it with a new Activity and occurs the same, the Image fills all the screen.
My actual layout is this:

But I have tried with a lot of different combinations, RelativeLayout, FrameLayout, and I cannot find the solution to do this.

you said you used as a new activity. Did you use android:theme="#android:style/Theme.Dialog in your manifest file?
And be sure that the image is little bit smaller one such that it will be suitable to act as a pop up..
If you used a dialog what exactly is the problem? Didnt you get the dialog as a pop up ?
(i think the image is larger so that it might fill the entire screen)
Create your own class extending dialog.And use layout like following. I use this in one of my apps and the dialog window is wrapped around the buttons :

I am trying to get the TextView, "tv_amount" to stay on the right side of the screen. I have tried using android:gravity="right" but that hasn't been working for me. Anyone have any suggestions?

I am expecting the transaction or "tv_amount" to stay be right justified so that end of the number is staying towards the right side of the screen.
I tried using :

but these don't seem to work obviously. I am a beginner when it comes to android development and can't seem to find any answers that have helped anywhere else. They all say to use android:gravity or some other alternative. Maybe there is something in my code that doesn't allow that.

I am dumb. The issue wasn't with the code in my individual recycler view layout code. It was with my activity_main.xml. I set the recycler_view width to "wrap_content" when it should have been "match_parent." Rookie mistake.
I am making the list view in which I have a image view and to its left I have to align the TextView which should have text in the center of it not the bottom of it. I have set the gravity but its only looking good in the design but when I run my app and data is fetched in list view then the text gets set in the bottom .

I have the xml code shown below. Everything is working as it should except the final textView( id locationTextView) which won't stay right. I want it to stay as right as possible, but I can't do that(it still appears straight after the linear Layout).Should I set a left margin?. Try android:layout_weight="1" or some other value for your locationTextView. You can also try out android:weightSum="3" (or that is appropriate instead of 3) on your root LinearLayout. Assign proper weights to your different child views. You can get help here
For showing text in a presentable way, you could use android:ellipsize="marquee" or other options available.

One suggestion would be add layout_alignTop="#+id/delivery_list_item_mapBtn" and layout_alignBottom="#+id/delivery_list_item_mapBtn" to the View and make it always fit the image height.
Try changing
android:layout_toRightOf="#id/delivery_list_item_statusBtn"
to
android:layout_toRightOf="#id/fill_the_height_please"
You don't have delivery_list_item_statusBtn. But i see red part even without changing this. Try it and if it doesn't help please post code of your adapter.
Looking here it seems RelativeLayout has a bug in version 17 and lower. So i have change my layout as follows:

A little bit more complex but works. However i leave the question unresolved in case someone find a solution using only a RelativeLayout
I have a listview with a custom adapter in which I have 3 textviews, two are next to each other and one is below the others. The problem I am running into though, is when the first textview extends, it pushes the other textview off the screen.
I have not been able to successfully get this to work, here is an example of what's happening:
As you can see when the first textview gets too long, it then pushes the other text off the screen. I would like it so it wraps but the date textview is also showing. It should also be functional in horizontal view.

I am assuming that the text view being pushed is the liDate one.
You need to put this one before the liName in your layout and set the width to "wrap_content" and align it right. Then you lace the liName to the left of it with "fill_parent" width
So it would look like this:

The key was using "#+id/" for the first textview instead of "#id/"
