I am making the list view in which I have a image view and to its left I have to align the TextView which should have text in the center of it not the bottom of it. I have set the gravity but its only looking good in the design but when I run my app and data is fetched in list view then the text gets set in the bottom .
I will show you what I mean by this.But first let me show you how I am doing to align this

as you can see in the second picture I want this type of adjustment. and in design preview it is showing me design just like it is expected. But When I run the app it just showing me text like i showed you in picture one.
Please tell me what i am doing wrong and How to constrict this not to get out of allignment.

I am expecting the transaction or "tv_amount" to stay be right justified so that end of the number is staying towards the right side of the screen.

but these don't seem to work obviously. I am a beginner when it comes to android development and can't seem to find any answers that have helped anywhere else. They all say to use android:gravity or some other alternative. Maybe there is something in my code that doesn't allow that.

I am dumb. The issue wasn't with the code in my individual recycler view layout code. It was with my activity_main.xml. I set the recycler_view width to "wrap_content" when it should have been "match_parent." Rookie mistake.
I'm working on a layout file. This layout requires that the icons should always after the single line TextView. If the TextView is too long,then the TextView is ellipsize and the icons should be shown.Such as:

The LinearLayout is used to add icons when fetch data from server. Android's layout preview is like above situation,but the apk runs on device like this this:

I found the code works fine after Android 4.3(include 4.3,I haven't test 4.2),it doesn't work below Android 4.3.The reason I think is that different Android systems parse these layout params in different ways.Such as some version think the parent container layout's params is more important than the child view.

I have the xml code shown below. Everything is working as it should except the final textView( id locationTextView) which won't stay right. I want it to stay as right as possible, but I can't do that(it still appears straight after the linear Layout).Should I set a left margin?. Try android:layout_weight="1" or some other value for your locationTextView. You can also try out android:weightSum="3" (or that is appropriate instead of 3) on your root LinearLayout. Assign proper weights to your different child views. You can get help here
For showing text in a presentable way, you could use android:ellipsize="marquee" or other options available.

As you can see there is a gap between the real text and the bottom of the image... I was expecting to have the bottom of the text matching exactly with the bottom of the image...so question is: How can I align the text to the bottom of the image?
(this also happens for the top text, but in the top instead)

For now I am using:
android:layout_marginBottom="-10dp"
But I wanted something more automatic, some solution that won't depend on dp or screen....but as commented, this might be impossible, because the View needs to make space for letter such as 'y', 'g' and 'j'....but I wish there could be something that will align it based on it's contents, so if there wasn't a 'g', it won't be saving this space.
You should add android:gravity="top" to your top text view and android:gravity="bottom" to your bottom text view to get the desired result.

In source code I just set different number and visibility (GONE/VISIBLE) of imageview (clicking on different buttons).
as result:
image is not visible (button1 was clicked)
2.image and some long number are vivible (button2 was clicked)
3.image and other little shorter number are visible (button3)
You can compare how it looks like. Text becomes visible but image is on the previous place. Why? Why image is not moved to left.
By the way. When screen is rotated - image becomes visible on correct place.
Try to use weight.. it will align based on screen

As Deepchand rightly said, add that Image as a drawable to the TextView directly. This will take care of the Image position and will remove an extra ImageView from the layout.
So to your TextView add this,
