I know this question was asked about 10 times here but none of them came to a solution. I don't want to use the low light SystemBar Mode I want it completely to fade out. And this is possible! The default launcher that comes with Chinese Rockchip devices does this. (It looks like the systembar just flies away into the middle of the screen). Any (new) ideas?
Since API 17 this is directly possible, just select FullScreen Activity when developing an app with Eclipse.

I have a old problem to put my app in (almost) full screen mode (short edges) in my Android 11 (and now 12) Samsung cell phone as I've explained here.
My app has this look
And I would like this look
Today I've discovered that my app, can be configurated in
Settings, Display, Full Screen Apps.
My app is between the listed apps that allows to select between full screen mode and app default. Many apps don't appear on this list. I don't know what criterion Android uses to select the apps where it's posible to change the screen.
So I managed to change the app screen the way I wanted.
The only question is that the system displayed a white background navigation bar, so I had to add to the style setting in Styles.xml the following line:
<item name="android:navigationBarColor">#android:color/black</item>
However, I would love to do it programmatically. But I don't get it, as you can see here. I did a lot of research, a lot of Stackoverflow research, but nothing.
Could anyone try to help me?
Finally, I've found the solution, which can be read as an answer that I wrote here to my original question .
I use a Nexus 6P (Oreo) and a Pixel 2 (Pie). I've seen this behavior on both. I've even seen it once briefly for Google Maps.
Sometimes, instead of the actual app icon, I'll see the generic Android head on a green background. It happens in the app drawer, on the home screen, or in app switcher. It's random, rare and hard to reproduce, and it happens briefly. I might be scrolling through the app drawer, suddenly realize my app's icon was wrong, scroll back to look at it--and it looks right. But every other time I scroll through the app drawer the icon is fine.
I can't see anything wrong we're doing with our app icon, and it happens rarely. But today I saw it happen (briefly) for Google Maps, which makes me wonder if it's a Google bug.
Any more insight on this issue? Or if it is something I can control, what can I do to prevent it from happening?
Edit: managed to get a screenshot of it in action. In this case it's from the app switcher (ignore the colored background around the green icon). As I noted though, it can happen on the home screen or in the app drawer, and it's not always limited to my app. In this case, the next time I used the app switcher, the normal app icon appeared, so it's quite random.
Remove all-dpi xml file from res > mipmap > ic_launcher and res > mipmap > ic_launcher_round or create custom xml for your app icon. (I would just suggest removing it.)
Here's how you can make your own adaptive icon.
I have an app which does some really strange thing on Lollipop (never occured on other versions). Sometimes the screen textures just go crazy. It looks like this. In fact there should be pretty standard toolbar and list with two items in it (rows have Switch on the right side). Instead whole screen looks like a broken analog TV. There is not anything suspicious in the log. It is all OK when I restart the application. This bug occurs "randomly" in approximately 1 in 50 runs of the app.
Have you ever seen anything similar ? Can it be some bug in Android ?
I am developing an Application where I need to go completely full screen. In kitkat its very easy by using Immersive tag. But since not all devices support kitkat I need to take JB and ICS (atleast) into consideration.
Well although there is a way of hiding navigation bar and status bar in JB and ICS it becomes visible as soon as the user interacts. This certainly does not looks good. It also takes one extra touch.
I did a lot of searching on net and was surprised that there is no way we can achieve it. I was hoping to find some trick or hack but nothing.
I am pretty sure that before kitkat came there were games which used full screen so I guess there should be a way (like Temple Run and Andgry Birds). Can some one please guide me in correct direction.
P.S: I am looking solution for devices which are not rooted.
Thanks :)
Use a full screen theme, or set it from code as described here https://developer.android.com/training/system-ui/status.html
As I already pointed out in the comments, this will give you full screen. Not the immersive mode as seen on KitKat where the user can easily unhide the status bar. If you're going with the theme approach it's probably best to set a not full screen theme on API19+ (KitKat) and tell it to use Immersive mode from there on.
A friend has asked me if I can create an Android app that can change white to red/yellow or another colour in another app, so applying a tint to the screen for all apps until it's turned off.
I've no idea where to start on this, has anyone got knowledge of this?
Can someone point me in the right direction of some reading?
I don't think so you can do this until and unless all other apps are not having background with 100% transparent.
