Android: How do I show 2 notifications in a row - android

The method bellow is being called twice with a different name parameter but only 1 notification appears on my device (the last one). I thought that putting an unique request mode parameter inside PendingIntent.getActivity() with name.hashCode() would work but that didn't solve the problem. So how can I alter this method to make my device show 2 notifications in a row instead of just the last one?

The first parameter to notify() is the ID of the notification. That needs to be different if you want different Notifications to appear on the screen. If you call notify() twice with the same ID, the Notification is replaced, not added.

I think you need NotificationCompat from the Support library, you can use this code to generate a notification, adapt it as you need

Android Phonegap GCM Multiple Notification

I am using Phonegap with GCM plugin to show GCM notification.
I am able to display notification correctly but I am not able to show multiple notification. I tried Notification passes old Intent Extras but No results yet.
Please help.

If you mean that the last notification overrides the previous one, and you wish to change it, you need to change the following :
notificationManager.notify(0, notification);
Use a different id (instead of 0) for each notification and you'll see all of them.
However, you might want to reconsider whether it's such a good idea to show multiple notifications for the same app. I would find that annoying as a user of your app.

Single line notification that is shown across the status bar?

just a simple question: How to make the single-line notification that will disappear after a short time.

This is called the "ticker" and it is shown briefly by the status bar if you set the tickerText property of your Notification.
See setTickerText.
You can use AlarmManager to invoke after a short time, say 5 seconds.
Also you can use a service, which gets launched, when first time the notification appears and it could cancel the notification after some time.
here you can cancel Notification using,
NotificationManager notificationManager = (NotificationManager) getSystemService(Context.NOTIFICATION_SERVICE);
notificationManager.cancel(NOTFICATION_ID);

Notification throwing intents without it's extras

I am trying to launch an intent from a notification, but for a reason I don't know the extra is not always sent with the intent.
This is where I create the intent :

In the DataAppTabs class I overrided onCreate() and onNewIntent(). When the notification appears, if I click on it it opens the correct Activity (DataAppTabs, which is a TabActivity), it triggers onCreate or onNewIntent if the activity was already started, but the extra "REQUEST" is not always set (getExtras() is sometimes null).
I have found the same question here with answers telling me I had to use the "FLAG_ACTIVITY_SINGLE_TOP" flag, but it still doesn't work all the time and I am not able to reproduce the problem every time.
Is it something I did wrong ?

Android Notification intent to clear it self

I have read many examples of how to create notification messages.
What i wanted to achieve, is because the notification will be executed by a widget, i would like
the notification intent when clicked to clear it self when the user clicks on it.I do not have an activity to return to.
The notification for my purposes will just plainly notify, nothing else.
So what would be the code of an intent that just clear/cancel itself.
The code below is an activity launched by a button(button code not included) the notification will be fired up by a background service.

Check out FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL
Bit to be bitwise-ored into the flags field that should be set if the notification should be canceled when it is clicked by the user.
EDIT :
notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL;
Set the flags in notification.flags instead of notification.defaults.
Example:
notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_ONLY_ALERT_ONCE | Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL;
If you're using NotificationCompat.Builder (a part of android.support.v4) then simply call its object's method setAutoCancel
NotificationCompat.Builder builder = new NotificationCompat.Builder(context);
builder.setAutoCancel(true);
Some guys were reporting that setAutoCancel() did not work for them, so you may try this way as well
builder.build().flags |= Notification.FLAG_AUTO_CANCEL;
The only way I can see of doing this is to have your Notification's Intent point to a background Service. When this Service is launched, it would clear the given Notification using NotificationManager.cancel(int id). The Service would then stop itself. It's not pretty, and would not be easy to implement, but I can't find any other way of doing it.

Often you might want to direct the user to the relevant content and so might replace 'new Intent()' with something else.
