I found out that someone has copied my app name, and also almost all its functions!
Now, my app has not a lot of downloads, but however this makes me really angry! is there something i can do to remove it from the google play store?
yes i know that marketing works like that, but its name is exactly the same of mine...
this is my app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrMr.funny.metronome&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5tck1yLmZ1bm55Lm1ldHJvbm9tZSJd

I would like to report my experience. I was looking for an app to look for an Italian tax information about vehicles, I found some and all of them sucked a lot. So I decided to write down another better one. Now it's the most downloaded one (among them) and it provides more functionalities and is more appealing.
So, why someone else shouldn't try to improve what you offer? That's simple market.

There is nothing you can do within the Play Store.
The only way you could block another app with the same name and functions would be (in US) if you had a trademark registered on the name, or a patent registered for the functionality.
There is nothing within the the 'Terms of Service' of the store that would prohibit someone from copying your app (or functionality) - or any recourse for you to get it removed.
You can try to effect the other app (give it one star reviews, leave a comment in the ratings saying "this is just a copy of the better app named...", etc).
Bottom line you have no recourse to have the app removed - sorry.

I have uploaded an Android App on Google Play Store and with a search today i can see this: http://www.androidappsgame.com/library-quiz/el
How come that my android app is uploaded to androidappsgame.com without my permission?
Any ideas?
This may or may not help, but make sure to check that first box in your console
The app is NOT on that store. That store is an aggregate site that grabs info from Google Play and makes it searchable. And it's not a very good one at that.
For the record, all of my apps are there too. I just looked. Even my newest ones are there.
You don't need to worry about anyone taking your app from Play and making it available elsewhere. It's just not gonna happen. And even if it did, 99% of devices out there have the system secured so you can't install stuff like that anyway.

I am about to put my first application on the playstore.I want to ask ..How to make sure that my application is not banned from the Playstore? Also,If my application gets banned does it mean my account on the playstore permanently suspended,What about other applications if I somebody has and he gets his application banned.I have a religious application in which I have put an image which I did't draw my self but clicked it from a picture I have in my home.I could't find a similar image in the top google results.I think I am infringing a copyright law of the person who would have created that image and got it printed and sold the copies physically and I have made an electronic copy of that. Please put some light on my doubts..Thank you..
I think I can give you some guidelines that will come close. 1. follow the play store rules to the letter; 2. don't breach copyright or even come close to looking as if you will. You would fall foul of number 2 based on your own admission. Remove the picture or get permission from the copyright owner and follow their requirements (on acknowledging copyright) to the letter.
I have difficulty believing that the success or otherwise of your app is hinging on a single picture. I'd just find a replacement. iStockphoto or similar? Quick trip to local religeous establishment?
You can look at Google Play's terms of service to determine if it will or won't be banned. Based on what you have said, it seems unlikely.
Comply with this and you'll be perfectly fine.

I had uploaded my app on google play yesterday, today if I search for my app's title in google play, my app appears after 80 to 100 apps??
Why is it so, any suggestions ???
Regards
Thats because of your app name, rating, #downloads.
1. Make sure your name is not used by others or at least not too often
2. Make sure you receive as much stars / ratings as possible (ask users to rate inapp). The better/more rankings you app has the more its likely that your app will be displayed first
3. The downloadcounter also affects the sorting.
It is possible that the name you gave to ur app can be common and app appearing in the market is shown by default according to their tag.try to give uniqueness to ur app and than try.It also depend on the number of times downloaded by users, likes, comments made on them,etc,etc... As the rates of your app increases it will automatically be up in chart.
the ratings are based on popularity, no of hits etc. You should also try to promote your app.
The documentation talks about it.
Preparing promotional materials.
To fully leverage the marketing and publicity capabilities of Google
Play, you need to create promotional materials for your application,
such as screenshots, videos, graphics, and promotional text.

I published the below android app in the market 2 days ago. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.whatappnext.topmusicvideos.
Even if i search by the exact app name the app is not appearing in the first page of Google play page. However when i search for other apps they appear as the first result in the Google play page when i search using the exact app name. Am i missing something. Kindly help me figure out if i am doing something wrong.
Well, I just understood that you are asking for the bad ranking of your app in the search results.
The ranking algorithm doesn't order the results only by app names, it also includes app ratings, number of downloads, and probably some other stuff. The app name and description are used to filter the results and remove irrelevant ones, but I'm not even sure if they are used to order the results.
In fact, it is probably a bad idea to use three very common keywords as your app title. Google tries very hard to downrank this kind of titles, because they try to order the apps by quality rather than keywords.
It would be too easy to make a poor app and appear first in the search results just because the other ones don't use the right keywords. I don't say that your app is bad, but google algorithm might think so.
It may take some time for your app to get indexed in the search results. The site updates their listings in a few days. Wait for sometime and it will appear.
I found it by application package name and even by application's name :)

How do you improve the position of an app in Android Market search results? The apps don't seem to be sorted on downloads.
Edit: The scope of this question is limited to working with the Android Market search engine, of which there's little or no information. I changed the title to make it clearer.
:-)
Make an app everyone wants, that gets high user ratings and lots of downloads
Update your app frequently, since it shows up at the top in the "Just in"-tab on every update
Use your Social Media Network (Create Facebook groups, start promoting smart on Twitter). Set up a user wiki where everyone can add content, discuss your app and get a real buzz around it.
Buy Google listings
Create a Blog discussing the app and its outstanding performance
EDIT: Almost forgot: Your app should be free, with a possibility to go pro (= paid).
I would add to the answers:
make your app in a way that can be extended with plugins by 3rd party coders, that means they create and submit their apps to the Market as extensions to your app, and that will raise the results
