I search a tutorial for learn how to send data from an android application (simple form - application builded with jquery-mobile) to my website under cakephp. I see the JSONP technology, this is the good way, no ? or there is more solutions ?
JSONP is one way to achive Cross-Domain resource sharing. It is easy on server side just wrap your JSON response with
callback(<-JSON->)
and on client side have unction named callback that take json in argument.
You can also simply change server config to allow all origin so that you won't run into CDRS.

I'm new to android, I'm trying to build an android app that is a front for a web portal. For example, Airbnb. They have a website, but they also have an android app that, using it's own layout, will show listings from their website.
There are many websites that teach how to or even directly convert your website to android apps. However, this will result in an app that loads too slowly and is unresponsive due to CPU usage.
Could anyone share any tutorial/guide to learn how to do this myself?

To actually load data from a web server you're gonna need and API which usually delivers the proper date using JSON or XML format so that you can properly parse and display that data. Building this API is in it self a complete course on its own.
But connecting to and requesting data from the API is usually done using some networking libraries. These are some of the better know libraries for this purpose.
OkHttp: A complete library with a set of tools for handling network connections and HTTP requests.
RetroFit:Type-safe HTTP client for Android and Java by Square, Inc. which is built on top of OkHttp.
Async-Http-Client:
The Async Http Client library's purpose is to allow Java applications
to easily execute HTTP requests and asynchronously process the HTTP
responses. The library also supports the WebSocket Protocol. The Async

you would have to write an API/Web service or use if already exits to fetch data from web server. Basically the concept is that, the website itself must be pulling data from some database, so write an API which would fetch the data from same API and return JSON data and consume the API from your android app.

You can write WebService, in programming it generally refers to a web page(ex. Airbnb), that can be called from your android application which can pass in data to it, or receive data from it.
WebService is basically like a 'method' or 'function' in a normal programming language; except you're calling it over the internet.
The first thing is you have to create a Web Service. The Web Service will be your "bridge" to consume the data from other Website like airbnb or others and return the data to your android through json format for example.
You can create a Web Service using many languages like C#, Java, PHP, etc. I would like to recommend you to use the language that you know the most.

I have a web written in Django framework and created Rest Framework for the API.
I am required to write an android application based on the Django framework (Android and Django newbie).
However I do not know how to pass the data from android (user input) into database MYSQL through Django Rest Framework. I done a lot of research in past 2 weeks, but still I cannot see any solution (text tutorial, video tutorial, code example) related to this issue.
Note: I will not using any PHP script and looking forward integrate with Django Rest Framework.

#chan-hau-yeen, you will want to look at something like Retrofit2 for Android to handle the network post to your Django backend. You can create json objects to post to your backend. Then with django you can accept the json and handle it there.
Once you have created api end points using DRF with data in json . You can use volley library for handling network calls .

Im building this app (using Unity3d) for a city hall and I need to split the content from the actual app since content must be easily changeable without having to update the app itself.
I want to host the content on a server and use http get/post messages to retrieve the data. I also need to have a web editor (kinda like a CMS) so that the client can change the content himself.
In the editor I would just have a list of "rooms", where each "room" would be one of three types (i.e. text screen, slideshow or audio). Depending on what type the room is, different parameters should be visible and editable.
What language you suggest I write the server in? (the server that the app would contact in order to obtain the up-to-date content) Python i'm guessing here?
What would be the easiest way to build the browser editor? Javascript and django?
If you know Python already and don't want to have to support maintaining a web server for your client it would probably be easy to host the web portion of your app on Google's App Engine. It's relatively easy to use App Engine to serve a simple a web form where the client could edit content and upload binaries. The form could be built using Jinja or Django-style templates, and the data would be written to App Engine's datastore. (also, it's easy to restrict access to the form to app administrators to prevent accidental/malicious edits)
Then the Unity app would query a page on the App Engine server to see if there's new content using the WWW object. The server would make a quick memcache/datastore query and return a JSON response telling Unity if there's more stuff to download or not.
I've done all of this in past projects, so I'm sure it's workable, and a lot of relevant code can be found in App Engine's tutorials and via some light Googling.
I would also look at Wordpress as a CMS. You can create custom forms for different post types. Each "room" type could also be a category type and have custom fields for data to be inputed.
There are loads of plugins to get up and running without too much coding. But you can also dig in and customize with some PHP coding.
The great thing about Wordpress is that media handling, Database interface, user management, privilege and editorial controls, to hand off to a client, are all there. There are loads of tutorials and documentation to get the platform to work for your needs.
Android get connected easily with cloud server.I don't know about others. You can connect using JSON and PHP for this.

This may not be the type of question I am supposed to ask here but I don't have anywhere else to go. I want to make an android application which gets feed from a web-server and displays in the application. It will be kind of a newspaper app. I have done my share of work: I know android application developemnt: have made some apps. Also, I have an idea of UI: a listview with the feeds and then on selecting an element I will open another activity with the complete feed. What I wanted to know is:
How to set-up a server for this?
How to request?
Can I set-up a free server?
I dont want to use GCM as I don't think it allows sending pictures. Plus it allows small data to be sent. Also, I have no knowledge about the 3rd party server I may need to create for this.
I would want to post both text and photos (combined makes a post, total of around 10 posts) from the server. Please dont close as not a question. Any link, tutorial will be highly appreciated. For server side coding, I know php, .net. I have never coded in java for a server, but I can learn it.
Please follow following steps to get your project done.
Set up any php or Java or .Net Server (If you are aware of any of these web technologies)
After you set up server you need to make web service which will work as mediator to transfer data between your server and mobile.
Webservice response will be either in JSON or XML
Generate response according to your need and parse them on android side.
Display in listview :) :)
You can use JBOSS for your server, and do a Java Server with Webservices.
In your webservices you'll have a service that get all the feeds, and maybe another that request the complete feed...
Your "language" between the Android app and the Server, you can use XML with SOAP (ksoap2 for Android), or you can try JSON (I never used, but I will 'cause we goona need use in my service).
You can try find another free server side, but I think the SOAP is important in most of the servers to "talk" with your app.

You're on the solid ground starting out using JSON as the interchange between the two.
Alot of popular mobile apps like Twitter and Foursquare have restful APIs set up to interact with their mobile clients by exchanging HTTP requests that contain data formatted as JSON. Most of the communication between the two can be accomplished with HTTP requests using the standard GET and POST methods.
A good place to start would be setting up some server endpoints that output this data and then setting up your android app to request and parse this data just like a browser would. You just need to set the appropriate mimetypes on your server end (application/json).
Most modern server-side languages have implemented modules/functions that can take their native data structures and approximate them in serialized JSON (PHP's json_encode(), python's json.dumps() etc) These can be used to output data from within the app or database to your mobile client where it can be interpreted and used in the Java environment there.
To pass back JSON you need to set the mime type (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/477816/the-right-json-content-type), which is application/json.
If you are passing back JSON or XML then the client just needs to make the appropriate http call, most likely GET, perhaps POST, to actually retrieve the information.
