Android ListView items: image and text too small - android

I'm working on a ListView where each item has an image and some text. On my older phone, HTC Evo 4G, things came up exactly as expected. Image is nicely sized and text looks fine. Then I loaded the same app on my new phone, HTC One, and the images are so tiny they are useless. I know the HTC One has a significantly higher resolution, but I cannot figure out how to make each item in the ListView larger.
I'm not sure what to post, but I think the layout xml files are the issue.

So the app does this: It taps ebay for car data and presents the search results as line 1 with a picture, line 2 with the ebay item title. A hidden value is the URL so users can tap the ListView line and launch a web browser.

Looks like the wrap_content setting for the ImageView's layout_width and layout_height are the issue. When I switched that to numerical values, suddenly I saw it change size. Finally setting it to 100dp made the images viewable.
As an aside, I had a terrible time with ADS and the emulator. It consistently failed to re-load my updated app. Often complaining about the Package Manager and suggesting the some process was running. I little idea what was running and how to fix it. When I switched to loading the app straight to the phone, then it worked fine.
So, I think now I need to create a system that is proportional, and takes in to consideration the displaying devices resolution.

Problem is the Relative Layout width being wrap_content. Try changing that to match parent. then you would not have to go thru this ordeal

Making the Button's align_parentBottom = "true" when other view's height is not Zero

First the title may look senseless but I don't know how I describe my problem well in the title.
I have a Relative layout which has 2 buttons (Past games and Upcoming Games) and 2 listviews. Whenever a button is pressed the associated listview is collapsed (height will be zero) if it is already expanded or the reverse will happen. ( i used this solution)
Problem:
Everything is fine when I run it on a 5-inch screen phone. Please see the following picture:

But if I run it on a 10-inch tablet it looks like this:

The same will happen when it will run on less than 5-inch phone.
My questions
Do I need to make another layout for the tablet? like in the layout-large folder?
or I can use some event(s) in Jave file that dynamically set the buttons align parent bottom property when the listview is not collapsed.
or it can be fixed in my current XML

Android random user interface behavior

Okay I have a full week of frustration behind me, it is the third time that the layout behaves random.
For example:

produces a result where the listview is displayed on top of the textview (making both items unreadable). The code down here produces the desired result, the listview is rendered under the textview. It is not the eclipse graphical editor, but it happens on a real phone as well. Note that the only difference between the two snippets is the id of the TextView.

Earlier this week I had a fight with the layout of four togglebuttons which (all!!) changed size, text align on the button, and even location when I clicked one, while the on and off text was exactly the same. Please tell me I am doing something wrong and android is not broken.
In the example on the top, your ListView's layout_below still refers to #id/textView1 which doesn't exist. It does, however, in your example at the bottom, so the bottom is working. FYI, instead of #+id/textView1 you should use #id\textView1 in the layout_below.

Android ScrollView is not working

This is my .xml file where I have used two scrollview,in Input Edittext and onether in output TextView. What is wrong here...It is not working in android device.
Another problem is that when I turn my device it only shows the input text area. The output text area goes down.I want to see the half screen of input and half screen of output area.
How to fix it??

Try setting layout_weight=1 and layout_height=0dp for the two scroll views instead of their
contents.
What is wrong here...It is not working in android device.
That's pretty vague. What were your expectations? What isn't working? In other words, please be a little more specific.
However, based on the layout code given, here are some recommendations:
Avoid hardcoding the size of views. You cannot make assumptions about screen size with the large variety of screen sizes, densities and devices out there. Also, even if you're able to make the layout look nice in portrait mode, it'll probably be not even close to that in landscape.
If you're going to put just a single View in a ScrollView, there's no need to wrap it in a ViewGroup container; just set the View directly, without nesting it again and added an extra layer of complexity to the view hierarchy.
There's no need to wrap a TextView or EditText with a ScrollView, as both views are scrollable by itself.
Regarding your second question: you can prevent Android from extracting all UI components when there's little layout estate left with the keyboard popped up. You'll need to set the IME_FLAG_NO_EXTRACT_UI flag on the EditText, or in xml: android:imeOptions="flagNoExtractUi".
I do like to point out that there's a reason Android has this behaviour by default. In most cases it hardly makes sense to force a tiny part of the UI to be visible, even more as whatever is being typed by the user is probably what really matters.

Android View background layout problem

I am trying to use a empty View to indicate the color for each item in a ListView.
The idea is that the rowColor View is just a 3dp wide line that should automatically size to the height of secondLine and thirdLine (note that all of the content is set in code including the background color of rowColor and that firstLine and thirdLine are often set to GONE).
It shows up perfectly in Eclipse's Graphical Layout but the rowColor does not show up at all on my phone (running 2.3.3) and all the views are stacked. Any idea how to fix it?
The following code for the list_row was adopted from here. I've provided all the code that I would think works based on that layout, but not even close. Does that layout still work?

I tested your layout in several emulators (from 2.1 to 2.3.3) and it works fine, with or without setting the first TextView visibility to View.GONE.
It must be either a problem in your code elsewhere or a glitch of your specific device.
As a workaround, you can use:
android:layout_height="0dp"
for your rowColor View. Since you are already defining the position of the top and bottom limits with android:layout_below="#id/firstLine" and android:layout_alignParentBottom="true", the actual value of layout_height is irrelevant.
I ran into this recently, and I found that a View with no content apart from a background color will not appear in a RelativeLayout.
If you can, try converting your layout to a LinearLayout. This seems to work for me.

Button text appears vertical

My project was working fine, when suddenly the text on my buttons was being displayed vertically. By which I mean instead of map_infobutton displaying

with the f and o beyond the bounds of the button, even though I have specified height=wrap_content in the TableLayout containing the buttons.
It appears fine in the Layout tab in eclipse, and only appears vertical in the emulator (not tried on target hardware)
getPaddingLeft for one of the buttons returns 11 at various points in the code. Not sure where it gets that from, but the spacing looks bigger than that anyway. I did have three buttons and took one away, but the problem existed with both two and three buttons.

Any ideas? Also if you have any comments on how I'm creating the layout, as I'm new to this and it seems like there are a lot of options available, but I'm trying to make it as simple as possible.
I had a similar problem.
I see that you have multiple buttons that you want to have the same width, so you specify the button's width as "0px" and the weight as "1". This is exactly what I did.
When I set the button text within the XML file, things look fine. However, I have one button that changes is text depending on whether a process is running or not. In my case, it is similar to the situation where a button toggles from "Start..." to "Stop..." After the text changes, it prints vertically and only the top one or two letters of each button are shown.
After reading your post, it occurred to me that, perhaps, the text was being set before the button width had been determined, and then not updated once the button width changes according to the "weight".
I modified it such that in each button, it now reads:
android:layout_width="fill_parent" instead of "0px"
In theory, this should have the same effect. However, in practice, the button width is adjusted before the text is updated. The behaviour is now correct.
