Android 4.2 Daydream when not docked or charging - android

Android 4.2 has a new 'interactive screensaver' option called Daydream which works when your device is either docked or charging or both.
I want to enable this feature ALWAYS, so it works even when the device is NOT docked or charging.
Anyone know how to do this?

You just defined what a daydream is. And you want to do something outside of it's definition. So I would say don't use a Daydream then.
Just make a full screen activity, or a live wallpaper, or install it as an app launcher and just take over the desktop.

SOTI MobiControl Kiosk Mode

We are trying to use the Kiosk mode feature of SOTI MobiControl to run our application on a kiosk. We are currently testing on a Zebra TC52 (an Android device) until we get our Elo kiosks.
We’ve set up a profile for our app that uses the Lockdown configuration. It “kind of” works, but isn’t quite doing what we expect.
When we power on the machine, it comes up in the normal startup screen. If I swipe up, then it takes us to our app screen. However, the status bar is showing, and can be pulled down.
However, if I click on the Home button, then the status bar goes away, and we’re closer to where we wanted to be. There is still a back button at the bottom of the screen.
We were hoping:
That when the machine starts, it would immediately go to our app screen, instead of requiring someone to swipe up to get the app to start.
That there would be no status bar, or bottom icons.
This app will be customer facing, so we want our app, and only our app, to ever show on the screen.
I’m not sure if any of these limitations are specifically because we’re using a TC52 instead of an actual kiosk device, but to my mind, they’re both just Android devices.
I have included screen shots of our configuration and the results on the device.
Can anyone see anything we are missing? Or are we expecting too much from the SOTI configuration for kiosks?
at least to disable the Lock Screen you can use the free Zebra StageNow tool (https://www.zebra.com/de/de/support-downloads/software/utilities/stagenow.html).
You can create a lot of device specific setting, just check https://techdocs.zebra.com/mx/ for the setting to disable the swipe lock screen.
in StageNow you can, after finish the Profile, export the Config for MDM
(upper right corner)
In Soti Mobicontrol u can use a script within Packages, Filesync, or direct on Device
mxconfig /sdcard/yoursetting.xm
to import the Setting to the Devices.
Depending on your Soti MC Version there are also some Settings available in the Lockdown Setting Profile to disable the Notification Bar, maybe also u can find some other usefull Settings in the MX Matrix..

Android Wear Emulator and ambient mode

How can I test ambient mode in Android Wear emulator?
I need to see how does my app render on different watches while in ambient mode.
Seems ambient mode is different on Moto 360 and Sony Smartwatch 3.
To test Ambient Mode in an emulator, you need to do the following:
In the Emulator, Go to settings and Turn ON "Always-on Screen: ON".
While emulator window is active Press "F7" (F7 emulates the power button) then press the power button to turn on ambient mode.
Hope this helps.
On recent Wear emulators you can just press the power button in the associated control panel. The power button within the emulator frame acts as a press on the main button, eg opening the list of apps.
Not your main question but hopefully this helps you in regards to the differences you're seeing between the Moto 360 and SmartWatch 3 ambient modes:
I believe what you're referring to is ambient mode versus low-bit ambient mode. Google covers some of it in their developer documentation but it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere else. I did a huge write-up for the community based on my own research since I was frustrated with the lack of info (it's mostly written from a consumer perspective though):
http://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidWear/comments/2qb3ia/clarifying_ambient_modes_everything_you_could/
The latest Wear emulator lets you click in the top of the emulator window to toggle between full power and ambient modes (the shaded section in the screenshot).

How to maintain Galaxy S2 screen active (Android OS)?

In Samsung Galaxy S2, where can I find the option to keep screen active? I've already searched through Menu->Configuration->Application->Development (and every other menu), but the Development option is missing in Application view (the view is a kind of application manager, not option settings).
I know that there is a lot of issues about keeping the amoled display active (i.e. pixel burn), but I'm in really need of this feature, as it is becoming very anoying to tap my device screen every time it is close to turn inactive.
Bellow is my Setting->Developer Options screen-shot:
Special Note: I've ready somewhere that the manufacturers had removed the option to keep screen active. Is this a true information?
Thanks in advance!
Try Setting the value programmatically using below code
Settings.System.putInt(getActivity().getContentResolver(),Settings.System.STAY_ON_WHILE_PLUGGED_IN,(BatteryManager.BATTERY_PLUGGED_AC | BatteryManager.BATTERY_PLUGGED_USB));

Android custom home for tablet

I would like to design a home screen only with my apps icon so that user will not be able to access anything else. Can I do that ?
Yes, it is possible to create a home screen application.
If yes, how ??
There is a Home sample app in your Android SDK installation (assuming you installed the samples from the SDK Manager). It largely boils down to having an activity with an <intent-filter> using CATEGORY_HOME.
Note that the user who installs your app will have the option of choosing between your home screen and the built-in one. Even if they make your home screen the default one, they will still be able to revert that decision by removing your app:
by booting in safe mode
via the Android SDK (e.g., adb uninstall)
by getting into Settings through notifications and the like
possibly other means
For ur knowledge lot many thing are diff for honeycomb.
For your knowledge, nothing changed in this area with Android 3.0.

Android: launching flash app as a screensaver

i am new to android development and had question regarding custom screen saver.
The requirement is for a tablet which will always be plugged in so battery life wouldn't be
an issue. The required app should behave as a screensaver in that during inactivity, the tablet should launch this app which contains a flash file that displays a series of images and video. When activity is resumed then the tablet takes the user back to the program they were using.
Can this be done via an app without requiring any hacks?
cheers,
abhi
There is no concept of a "screensaver" in Android.
There is the lock screen, which can be modified via custom firmware, though AFAIK it is implemented in Java as part of the OS and therefore could not be replaced via a Flash APK.
