I am using Android studio on OSx 10.6.8.
When I run the app in emulator mode I get the following error
/Users/.../android-sdks/tools/emulator -avd AVD_for_Nexus_5_by_Google -netspeed full -netdelay none
dyld: Symbol not found: _NSWindowDidEnterFullScreenNotification
Referenced from: /Users/.../android-sdks/tools/emulator64-x86
Expected in: /System/Library/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/C/AppKit in /Users/.../android-sdks/tools/emulator64-x86
while there are no problem running on the real device.
Does anyone have any idea?
I had the same problem and it cropped up when I updated my SDK tools to version 24.1.2. This thread discusses the problem in more detail, but the gist is that the new SDK tools have OSX 10.8 as the minimum supported version.
I was running Android Studio on OSX 10.6.8 as you did and reinstalled the earlier version of the SDK tools (23.0.2) available here. That did the trick and I have my AVD up and running again.
Three options
In the SDK manager check you have the latest API version or at least the version you are targeting installed.
In the AVD create a new device edit your device with the CPU set to x86 instead of x86_64.
Go to file invalidate cache in androdi studio
Hope that helps.

I updated the Android Emulator in Android Studio. After the update i always get "The emulator process was killed" when i try to start an AVD.
I tried to start it from command line and get following error.
emulator: Android emulator version 30.5.3.0 (build_id 7196367) (CL:N/A)
dyld: Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/IOUSBHost.framework/Versions/A/IOUSBHost
Referenced from: /Users/NaoKreuzeder/Library/Android/sdk/emulator/qemu/darwin-x86_64/qemu-system-x86_64
Reason: image not found
Abort trap: 6
I searched for file "IOUSBHost.framework" on my mac. But could not find it.
How to solve this? Can someone point me in the right direction to find a solution?
I do not have a solution to provide, but I can confirm that the problem appears in the following configuration:
macos High Sierra (10.13.6),
AndroidStudio 4.1.3,
Android Emulator 30.5.3,
HAXM 7.6.5
I can also confirm that in newer version of macsos like Big Sure (11.2.3) with the same versions of development tools everything works fine, because the IOUSBHost.framework exists.
From Apple developer website https://developer.apple.com/documentation/iousbhost/iousbhostdevice we can see that the framework IOUSBHost is available from version macOS 10.15 and above.
My Mac is running Mojave and I ran into this problem after upgrading my Android Emulator version to v30.5.3 today. I downgraded my emulator version from v30.5.3 to v30.0.12 and that resolved the issue.
After i updated MacOS to Catalina (10.15.7) everything works fine now.
Looks like, newest version of Android Studio Emulator don´t work with older MacOS Versions.
This has been asked before but I cannot seem to find a solution that works.
I updated Android Studio to version 3.0.1
My Mac is running Sierra version 10.13.3
When I go to run an application in Android Studio I get the following pop up message:
Many of the solutions suggest to "Uninstall the current HAXM version" that I have in the SDK Manager by unchecking it and then installing it again. When I go there, however, there's nothing to uncheck because the new version was never installed:
When I try downloading the 6.2.1 version, it does not install. I get the following error:
Does anyone know how can I get this download properly? Thank you!
I'm having trouble with the Android emulator.
I am running on Windows 10, and here is my environment:
Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2017
Version 15.5.6
VisualStudio.15.Release/15.5.6+27130.2027
Microsoft .NET Framework
Version 4.7.02556
Xamarin 4.8.0.760 (fc93f3f5b)
Visual Studio extension to enable development for Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android.
Xamarin Designer 4.8.188 (c5813fa34)
Visual Studio extension to enable Xamarin Designer tools in Visual Studio.
Xamarin.Android SDK 8.1.5.0 (HEAD/75f8c6838)
Xamarin.Android Reference Assemblies and MSBuild support.
Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Mac SDK 11.6.1.4 (db807ec)
Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Mac Reference Assemblies and MSBuild support.
My Android SDK Platform looks like:
and the SDK Tools is:
In my emulator screen, no matter what device I choose, I get the error:
"No system images installed for this target".
I clearly have installed the Google ARM System Images.
I don't understand why I'm getting the error message.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Update 2
I would like to thank York Shen, and Jon Douglas for their help. The Device Emulator now works... well almost.
I installed the Intel HAXM Emulator Accelerator. My console script was:
I also selected the Accelerator from the SDK Tools:
When I try to define a new device using the Emulator Manager, I now get:
Obviously, I still have a problem with HAXM. By the way, if you tell me I have to change my computer's BIOS to make HAXM work, I will give up on Android.
I tried to run a default emulator, and it warned me that I could continue, but without any acceleration. A simulator appeared but my application did not run. My application only runs on iOS and UWP.
I'm going on five days in trying to get the Android Emulators to work. No cigar. I contrast this to my experience with the iOS Emulator. That one took me about 1/2 an hour to get running. It was very clean and simple. I'm thinking seriously about abandoning all software development for Android.
Why am I getting: “No system images installed for this target”
As #Jon Douglas said, you are using a deprecated version of the AVD Manager, you could refer to the docuemnt:
As of Android SDK Tools version 26.0.1, Google has removed support for their UI-based AVD and SDK managers in favor of their new CLI (Command Line Interface) tools.
You could refer to my answer for a more detailed answer about how to solve this issue:
Xamarin with Visual Studio not detecting CPU/ABI system image for emulator, even though system images are installed
Update:
If you use the Xamarin SDK Manager and Xamarin Android Device Manager, you need update to Android SDK Tools 26.0.1 and later (which is required for Android 8.0 Oreo development).
You could read this: Requirements. In your situation, upgrade your Android SDK Tools version to 26.1.1:
Update 2:
You need Installing the Xamarin Android Device Manager, then you could start the Device Manager by clicking Tools > Android Emulator Manager:
To help anyone scratching their heads as to why when they install a new version of Visual Studio 2017 the emulator looks different to York Shen above, its because Visual Studio didn't bundle the latest version of the AVD Manager into Visual Studio 15.6.6 (as of 23rd April)
I followed #York Shen - MSFT's answer until I hit a snag on the update of the Android SDK tools. I simply downloaded them from https://developer.android.com/studio/#downloads (Command line tools only, sdk-tools-windows-4333796.zip).
Copy the contents of the tools folder into C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\tools
After updating Android Studio to 2.0 l am getting this error unable to obtain debug bridge and Android Device Monitor does not open. Anyone faced this error before?
I just open sdk manager and installed all android sdk tools and done.
Check whether you need to install "Android Sdk Platform Tools" in the Android SDK Manager.
Somehow, after installing Android Studio from the bundle (for Linux) I lacked the "platform-tools" directory in "Android/Sdk", where the adb executable resides. Installing the platform tools helped. It was easier to find in the standalone sdk manager.
This is because you deleted the adb.exe (it might be your antivirus who deleted it),that resided in the platform tools in the android sdk folder.
What you need to do is to delete the current platform-tools in the sdk manager program and re install it all over again.
I installed the right sdk version that matched my virtual device android version
I am also running the same problem when update android studio from 1.4 to 1.5 stable version. When I run adb command from terminal then i found following error :
bash: ./adb: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error
After R&d I found that this error occurs due to unsupported architecture. In my case:
I am using ubuntu14.04 LTS 32-bit. I observed that after updation, lib folder under platform-tools converted to lib64. I think above error occurs due to 32-bit architecture because after updation 32-bit support removed.
For permanent solution upgrade you system to 64-bit architecture.
Quick solution is to replace the updated platform-tools folder with old one that containing the lib folder instead of lib64.
I think 32-bit architecture support for android development stopped by google for future releases. But I am not sure.
I am phase these error when updating Android-SDK Plateform-Tools 23.1 in Android SDK Manager
i am worked on ubuntu 14.04 [32bit] that is not supporting with Plateform-Tools 23.1 it is only supporting in 64bit Operating System architecture that's why downgrade my Plateform-tools 23.0
it works perfect...!!!
Go to: Android Studio Settings > Appearance & Behavior > System Settings > Android SDK:
If path for SDK are text in red, change to your SDK folder and click ***APPLY***
Open the standalone SDK manager and install the platform tools package.
After updating both Android Studio to 2.0 Preview 3b & Android SDK Tools to 25rc1, Android studio would encounter an error when starting a Android 6.0 emulator with Google services:
The error seem to indicate that HAXM is of the wrong version (1.1.1 v.s. 6.0.1), however in Settings->Android SDK->SDK Tools the most up-to-date Intel x86 Emulator Accelerator version is installed (i.e. 6.0.1), so the error message doesn't seem to be correct.
Here's the emulator setting:
Having the 6.0.1 installer downloaded is different from actually running the installer.
Go into your folder, to extras/intel/Hardware_Accelerated_Execution_Manager and execute the intelhaxm-android.exe installer.
The UI under SDK Tools is a bit confusing. When it says 6.0.1 is installed, it's really saying that it downloaded the HAXM 6.0.1 installer. You still need to run the installer to install it.
Or, you can just download and install it manually from here.
