i am trying to add the google admob to my android application and for some reason its gave me a error and the aplication is cashing.

Your activity layout (activity_my.xml) does not contain an AdView view with id ad_view. That view is located in your fragment, which is not yet loaded when you start an activity.
You have 2 choices:
Transfer AdView code to your fragment's callback methods, e.g. onCreateView

I have an app that I desperately need to convert from using the old ActivityGroup class to Fragments. I'm not sure how to go about it though. Below is a sample of the code I use now. ... so basically when my app loads, I get my tabs at the bottom, my header at the top, and the "tab content" in the middle. In my Status activity, I can load another activity from it by using ...

In my current TabGroupActivity class, in the finishFromChild and startChildActivity methods, I am able to call setText on the txtViewHeading TextView element in my main activity layout. Which is the current activities "title". If there is more than 1 activity in the group, the back button shows the previous title. How can I duplicate this in the examples below? The main activity layout there is much different than mine.

There is one FragmentPagerAdapter defined as mTabGroupAdapter inside MainActivity that will add a different tabs inside a single Layout.
First we bind the mTabGroupAdapter to mViewPager.
TabLayout will act like a TabHost under which Tab will be added by FragmentPagerAdapter.
mViewPager is bind to the Tablayout.
Under MainActivity TabLayout will display the name of Tabs.

Than you need to create fragments which you'll use in your tabs instead of activities which you use for tabs. In this case this'll your Status Activity if i'm not wrong.

Edit: You'll no longer need TabHost and TabActivity any more. Your tab grup activity will be your ViewPager which handles screen changes and lifecycle of fragments inside. If you need to get this activity from fragments you can use getActivity() method and cast it to your activity and use it's public methods.
I'm at a complete loss.
I am trying to create a simple Tabbed Activity from the Android Studio wizard. If I run the project, the app hangs, and I get a thread exception error.

I just took the sample code shared by developer android site. I wanted to create a tabbed menu along with the option menu in the action bar. I want my activity to have the navigation tabs along with the action bar menu. I am not getting the action bar menu. Here are some things to try:
I assume that in your template_activity.xml you remembered to include the </menu> tag? (You might have only missed copying+pasting it into your question).
Try using this code in your activity:

Note: You may also have a possible typo in your getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.template_actvity, menu); line. Specifically, you misspelled "activity".

As for getting the "three dot" overflow button, I realize now that you are using a device with a built-in menu button. It is intentional that devices with these don't include the overflow buttons. However, if you still want to implement this, you can read more about it here.
I am fairly new to android programming but what I am trying to do seems fairly simple though. I have this setup with 4 different tabs in the action bar, the first should display a Fragment with the Google maps API and the others some other stuff i haven't done yet. Following some tutorials online I managed to get the functionality I wanted for the tabs and get the map to appear.
The app is working fine when changing from the initial tab with the map (tab 1) to any other, but when trying to come back it crashes. Weirdly enough when the map fragment is in one of the tabs it makes the second tab crash as well on some transitions, in the image bellow the transitions shown as blue arrows work fine, while the ones with yellow arrows make the app crash.

If I change the first tab fragment for one of the others all the transitions work fine again, therefore I think the problem must indeed be with the map fragment.

Well managed to solve this only by switching the position of the super call in the onDestroy() function. It seems I needed to first destroy or unassign the fragment from its parent to make it work. Heres the new onDestroy() code if anyone is still having the same problem:

I want to include Action Bar Tabs in my application and am working through a tutorial example to get my head round it all.
The tutorial has two tabs each with their own fragment so then when the tab is selected the correct fragment is shown...this seems to be the approach shown in all the examples I can find.
What I want to do however is to have each tab have their own instantiation of the Same fragment and to pass an argument to the Fragment so that the code can behave differently dependent on which tab is selected.

So what I would like to do would be to get rid of Fragment B completely and have both Station and Player tabs use Fragment A. Then within Fragment A put code that did one thing if it is for Station and something else if it is for Player. I've tried all sorts with trying to put an Args Bundle but I'm new to this and nothing I have tried has worked,
I now have a solution that works here.
The way that I have done it is to set a Tag on each of the Tabs as I set them up and then get the current Tab in my fragment and use it's tag.
Code changes are as follows:
In Activity, so that I am just using Fragment A:-
