I have several problems with google play apps testing.
I have a beta user group with 100 users.
In the process given from google, I must add all users to a group, and then, when user receive a mail, he click a blue button "Become a tester"
I have 2 problems in this step.
I don't have a way to know who clicked this button and who didn't click, so I really don't have control of who has the correct version
After clicking blue button, when user has 2 google accounts, it fails, even if the user choose the correct email. I was able to pass this step by deleting an account, download app, and re-add the account. It seems like a bug to me.
So basically, I have a lot of trouble with all this process.
Is there any way to get it work better, or should I just buy an external service?
1. I don't have a way to know who clicked this button and who didn't click, so I really don't have control of who has the correct version
Well it is true that you don't get a "notification" per say saying that the user clicked the blue button. But you can always look up the developer console to see who has downloaded the app based on versions, devices etc etc.
2. After clicking blue button, when user has 2 google accounts, it fails, even if the user choose the correct email. I was able to pass this step by deleting an account, download app, and re-add the account. It seems like a bug to me. So basically, I have a lot of trouble with all this process.
I never experienced that when i was added to a beta testing group. I actually had 3 accounts on my phone at that time and was still able to install the beta app without any issues.

I integrated the In-app Review provided by Google. I followed the documentation exactly as it is written. I hosted the app on Play store for testing, the prompt shows up the first time correctly. But when I click on Not now or Cancel, the prompt didn't show up again on that device.
I tried every possible way of re-installing or by clear cache but no luck.
Can anyone tell me is it the default behavior of In-App review prompt and when it will be visible next in this scenario?
To provide a great user experience, Google Play enforces a time-bound quota on how often a user can be shown the review dialog. Because of this quota, calling the launchReviewFlow method more than once during a short period of time (for example, less than a month) might not always display a dialog.
Because the quota is subject to change, it's important to apply your own logic and target the best possible moment to request a review. For example, you should not have a call-to-action option (such as a button) to trigger the API, as a user might have already hit their quota and the flow won’t be shown, presenting a broken experience to the user. For this use case, redirect the user to the Play Store instead.
Note: The specific value of the quota is an implementation detail, and it can be changed by Google Play without any notice.

I've written to Google Play's support about this issue. At first the flatly denied it, but after I submitted screenshots, database logs, etc... they said they were "looking into it."
Basically every time I submit my app to Google Play... the word "Text" is inserted into almost every EditText field. This includes, Comments, Editable profile fields, etc...
According to the screenshots this appears to be caused by Google Play's automated testing. I've verified that the IP address of the poster does indeed belong to Google.
I've never seen anything like this in over 30 years of programming and I'm at a bit of a loss for what to do... It happens ONLY when I submit an app update to Google Play.
There's really nowhere else I could think of to ask. Has anyone ever SEEN anything like this? How can I prevent this from happening?
When you upload your app, it goes through the Pre-Launch Testing, where it will use test devices to automatically click/type/use your app and try to find bugs and see whether it will crash anywhere.
If you don't want this:
Go to your app in the Google Play Console
Click Release Management on the left
Click Pre-Launch Report
Click the settings tab
Disable it
I am working on an app that needs to update a Facebook user's status using a custom composer in an Android app. Also, I would like to get the user's videos to show them inside the app itself. I believe I'll need the following permissions to achieve the desired features.
publish_actions
user_videos
To get those permissions, I need to submit my app for review. I have prepared the required stuff for that such as, steps to reproduce and screencast of mobile app, to give an idea of the features working. Facebook also requires the APK to be uploaded along with the submission. But, the problem is I don't have the required permissions for now, so how will I demonstrate the exact feature up and running in the Android app? Without the APK, I won't get the app reviewed.
Is there any way to get the required permissions for some users, so that I'll be able to demonstrate in the screencast? Please help.
PS: I tried to add some Test Users but they don't seem working fine.
Follow these simple steps to submit.
1.Open your app in facebook console account.
2.Go to App Review,in app Review click the button Start a submission.
3.On Left List of Items will be displayed.
4.Select Items for Review
5.You have to Add Notes for Each Permission(Add the text to explain why u need that particular permission or add a video clip or
Screenshots.
*NOTE*:--make your note in such a way that they can understand your requirement clearly, otherwise they are not going to approve it.
6.AtLast Press the Save Button for submission.
Guys You need to wait for minimum 1-2 days to get approval.
You will get Alert in the Alert Tab on Facebook Console account of your app,
once you will get the approval, then good to go.
Hope it will help someone.
One of my apps been in the market for 3 weeks now. Got a few good ratings, but one of the ratings I got is a 1. Unfortunately the user didn't leave any review so I got no way of telling why is she/he dissatisfied as such.
Is there a way that I can find what device/android version etc...they're using?
FYI, In the developer console, I can't find any details of this rating under "Ratings & Reviews". I am only able to see information on the ones with reviews.
I have an an analytics event triggered when the user clicks the rate button but of course no information about the rating itself.
The latest 1 star ratings from my apps say "good app thank you" and "can't download it". Apparently the first user tapped on the wrong button and the other has a bad network connection and wasn't able to download the app from the store.
As you can see, you shouldn't worry about low ratings until you get more detailed reviews (you will get some eventually).
Hi i am trying to upload my Android app in the private channel of the Google Play store, this will be first app for our organization. We didn't upload any apps yet but we are trying to upload our first app in private Channel. I didn't find how to get start with Google play private channel. I go through this distribute android apps in your organization but am a bit confuse about what the first step is. Can anybody tell me how to get started?
My first step is through this screen. So where is "Click More controls > Other Google Services, click filter to open the filter pane, and deselect the Show top featured services checkbox"..
Maybe it's too late, but I just did it for the first time now, and I can guide you :)
I aggree with you : Google support is a bit confusing.
First of all, from the main dashboard, go to Apps, then Additional Google services. Then, at the top right of the screen, click the second button (a kind of filter icon), between "+" and "?", and uncheck in the left panel that appears "Show top featured services".
Then, on the same screen, scroll and make sure Google Play Developer Console and Google Play for work are activated.
Once done, go back to the main dashboard, and then go to Device Management. On the next screen click Mobile on the left panel.
There, click Device management settings and check Allow users to access Google Play Private Channel if you want your users are just able to download app, or the second checkbox (update Goole Play Private Channel) if you want they can upload custom apps too.
You can set this property for your whole domain, or for each "organizationnal unit", as Google says.
Then, you have to create an Android dev account with one of your Google Apps account. I mean : if you had a personnal dev account (with a gmail address, or anything else, you won't be able to be a dev in your organization), so beware !
The publication process will be the same, except one thing : in the "pricing/availability" menu in the Dev console, you will have to check a tiny checkbox just after the amazing list of countries, to warn Google you want this app to be just visible for users of your GApp domain.
An other pretty cool feature that may be relevant in this usecase is Android For Work, coupled with Google Play For Work. I can help you too about it, but it's another subject :)
Google has provided step by step instructions of doing this. We can create users in the private domain and assign different privileges to the users, based on which, they can just download the app or upload apps to the private channel. The following link gives detailed information on this.
