Is there any way to get the download count of your own Android application via an API?
Play Store doesn't seem to have an API, so I'm guessing it will be a hacky solution.
I couldn't find any vanilla code / API's for this, so I ended up using the AppFigures API. They have free accounts where you can track up to 5 apps.

How do I get the amount of steps the user has taken outside of an android application? Preferably using the google fit api to get the steps.
All i know is that the steps would have to be fetched in a Service or a BroadcastReceiver, but i don't know how. Does anyone know of some documentation or code that could help?
If you know a way to accomplish this without google fit that would work to.
I don't think you can take out Android apps out of the equation because Google Fit API is part of Goolge Play Services which is found on Android devices. So to work with Google Fit, you need to develop apps for Android phones. This is found in the Get Started guide of the Google Fit API.
To know about counting steps, check this documentation and a related SO post Android 4.4 Step Detector and Counter talking about counting steps using sensor of the android device (w/o Google Fit).
I have been struggling for many weeks to get the sample code at REST Android Quickstart to work properly, but I get a 403 error which I can't seem to fix as I cannot find the Drive SDK within the Developer Console to activate it for my app.
Now I am wondering if there is an alternative to using the REST method to achieve my original goal of creating an app that can create and edit text files within a users personal Google Drive account - NOT the Drive space allocated to the app itself - which I believe is a limitation of the Google Drive API (unless I'm mistaken)? Many thanks in advance.
I'm working on a mobile app project that uses Google Places APIs and have some questions:
From my research in Google documentation, they allow FREE and UNLIMITED use of their Google Places API data when used by Android devices. Currently, my development team is accessing Google Places Web Services API for all API calls. For the Android devices, should I have them change to use Google Places API for Android in order to take advantage of this?
I read in Google's API policy that they may allow for caching of API data (with limitations - i.e. you must refresh every 30 days, etc) if you want to increase performance of your code and/or use in offline mode, etc. However, it says you must get their permission for caching from Google. I cannot find how or where to request this permission. Would be helpful if you can point me in the right direction with a form or a link or something.
Appreciate any help. Thanks.
In my android application, I want to show list of applications made by a specific company and exist in play store. But I am not finding any api to perform search with some keyword.
Any web APIs are available for searching on Google Play store?
what all ways are possible to solve this problem.
There's an unofficial API for Google Play Apps, try checking this out:
https://code.google.com/p/android-market-api/
Another option is also 42matters.com Google Play Store Android API where you can fetch all the data you are searching for.
Access to the data is not free, but you can try the API with a 14 days free trial
Does anyone know if Amazon has an open API for their Android AppStore?
Full disclosure: My team builds the Amazon Appstore SDK. Even though I work for A2Z, any opinions stated are my own, not my employer's.
As of the time of this answer, Amazon has a private beta for the In-App Purchase API. If you want access to the API, please fill out the form at:
http://developer.amazon.com/
You have to create an account to access the request form.
The current offerings for Developers that want to integrate Amazon into Applications can be found here. I have not seen a API for the Android App, or any other mobile App for that matter. Which would lead me to believe that they dont provide an API for that. I would suggest that you use the Web Service API, that may be able to work for you depending on what you are trying to do.
