I am trying to make a custom shaped linearlayout like below
I am trying to make only one side curved. Tried with corner radius but it doesn't give the same look as above.

I think vector drawables are the most perfect solution for this. Use below vector as background to get custom shaped bottom curved layout.

Sure. You can add a border to any layout you want. Basically, you need to create a custom drawable and add it as a background to your layout. example:

I'm able to draw border to a linear layout, but it is getting drawn on all sides. I want to restrict it to right side only, like you do in CSS (border-right:1px solid red;).

As many including me wanted to have a one side border with transparent background, I have implemented a BorderDrawable which could give me borders with different size and color in the same way as we use css. But this could not be used via xml. For supporting XML, I have added a BorderFrameLayout in which your layout can be wrapped.

There is no mention about nine-patch files here. Yes, you have to create the file, however it's quite easy job and it's really "cross-version and transparency supporting" solution. If the file is placed to the drawable-nodpi directory, it works px based, and in the drawable-mdpi works approximately as dp base (thanks to resample).

Looks great in a light backgrounded layout..
By my way of thinking, it already has rounded corners.
In case you want them more rounded, you will need to:
Clone all of the nine-patch PNG images that make up an EditText background (found in your SDK)
Modify each to have more rounded corners
Clone the XML StateListDrawable resource that combines those EditText backgrounds into a single Drawable, and modify it to point to your more-rounded nine-patch PNG files
Use that new StateListDrawable as the background for your EditText widget
Just to add to the other answers, I found that the simplest solution to achieve the rounded corners was to set the following as a background to your Edittext.

With the Material Components Library you can use the MaterialShapeDrawable to draw custom shapes.
With a EditText you can do:

Then create a MaterialShapeDrawable:

If you want only corner should curve not whole end, then use below code.
