Chat box Dialog style Android - android

I am developing a simple chat app. I am using Text View to display messages. It all works fine. I need to add a little arrow like we get in dialog boxes.
This is what I am talking about. That little triangle shape
how can this be achieved???

You can use 9 patch image and set it as background of your message layout.

Adding image in a text field in flutter

I want to add images in a text field/text form field in flutter. Whenever the user clicks the first button in the bottom navigation bar, the app will ask to pick an image and the image will display in the text field.
Like this:-
How Can I add one? (I am not talking about emoji)
ANY HELP OR IDEA WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
You can use RichTextEditor using rich_text_view plugin to support stylized text. Another option here is by using flutter_markdown to render images from Markdown.

Android Custom Dialogue Box

Hi I want to make a custom dialogue box for my android application and want to populate it with buttons, check boxes and such kind of items.
I have followed the tutorial from android developers website, but that is not what I want, actually I want to customise the background and size of the dialogue box.
Please if any body could give me a head start, Plus I want to know when I design a background for that box, what dimensions and pixel numbers I use so that it may run the same in Galaxy Note, Galaxy S and tablets and other mobile phones running android.
Here is the picture of customised dialogue box. Like that I want to work out something.
Yes this is a good question. You must use a custom dialog with a transparent bg theme like these:
Dialog dialog = new Dialog(mContext, android.R.style.Theme_Translucent_NoTitleBar);
dialog.setContentView(R.layout.custom_dialog);
dialog.show();
where custom_dialog will be your XML for the dialog layout, and as far as dimensions go you should really test your app on a number of different screen resolution devices to ensure it displays as you want.
On occasion I have wanted to create a fully customized dialog such as the one you've shown.
When I had to do it, I fought for a while trying to make it a Dialog. In the end I found it was far easier to just wrap my dialog in its own activity, set it to theme transparent in the manifest, and make the layout xml file such that there was transparent space around the edges. That was the easiest way for me to get rid of all of the default dialog formatting (i.e. the frame that it comes in if you do it with the setContentView() route)
So while it is not technically a dialog any more, to the user it serves the same purpose.

Android code is needed smileys pop up window

I am developing a chat application. And i want to have pop up window with smileys in it so that when user clicks on one of smileys it will be inserted to edit text box.
Does anyone know sample code for it?
I wanted code for both pop up window and code to embbed smileys in an application.
(same as in case of yahoo which has smileys.how to code for it and how to store them in database and all)
Take a look at the PopupWindow. You'll want to use it in similar fashion to this tutorial here: http://www.mobilemancer.com/2011/01/08/popup-window-in-android/.
I would populate it with your drawable images, and then attach to each image you create a onClickListener that would insert the smiley into whatever text window your using.
I'm not an Android expert, and I'm still learning myself, but this is one approach I would investigate.

showing text and image both while displaying list of applications in android

i want to create a home screen application where the applications looks like carousel , and i am able to do it . The problem i am facing is that in my application only the applications icon are getting displayed the text is missing in it , where as my requirement is that i want to both the icon and text to be displayed together.
my application displays same as the above showing image.
i want text to be combined with it as above image.
please help me.
Thanks
datta
So the simplest thing to do would be to create a Compound Control. This compound control would essentially be a LinearLayout with both and ImageView and a TextView in it. Then, where ever you use a CarouselImageView in your code, just use your new compound control instead.

Button containing images and text

I have to create a small panel like thing with a border.
This should contain a text, an image that describes the text and a button.
On clicking that button I have to do some operations also.
Which widget is suitable for this?
Can anyone suggests any idea?
ImageButton is what I can think of. Try the ApiDemo sample application comes up with android sdk too. Another tool you might need is DroidDraw (Free android UI designer) and hierarchyviewer.bat(inside android sdk tools) can also help you if you want to know how the other developers use for such purpose.
I have assumed that you want to display button with images + Text,
You can do it with Button. There are 2 ways to do it(Button with Image and Text).
By xml, you can set
android:background attribute of
button and the text which you set,
will be appeared above the
background.
By code, You can use
setBackgroundDrawable() , it is
used to set the background of a
button.
and If you want to display panel(By clicking on the handle of that panel, it will comes up with the many items as home screen) , slidingDrawer widgets is the best solution.
