After a long time in Beta, my app is now ready for publishing. I published it about an hour ago. It is named Colors, a very short and often used name. So that is also the title in Google Play. But now when I search for Colors my App isn't shown when I search for Colors (not in all findings (about 100)). It is there because when I also search with the developer name it comes up at place 8 or so. What to do now? Change the name or add something in it?
What would you suggest?
Here are the steps to find your app:
Go to the app console at https://play.google.com/apps/publish
Choose your app
Hover the icon with the "I" letter in the circle beside your app name
Click "View in the Play Store"
Note, that your app needs to be published (as on the attached screen).
Moreover, your app may not be published immediately and probably you need to wait about a few hours until your app will be officialy available in Google Play Store.
It may be not so easy to find your app via search if it has popular or common name. I such case, Google algorithms may adjust search results depending on a different criteria. When your app is new, it may not be recognizable in the beginning.
Firstly: If you published your app a short time ago, it is going to rank lower in searches. Give it a while, because the search feature is like google: It shows the most popular links with the same name first. It is the same thing with apps: The most popular with a given name rank first. FOr new apps, even when searching that name, similar names will rank higher because your app is newer.
Writing
pub:[Your Dev Name Here]
(without the brackets)
will show only the apps published by you. No space between : and the first letter in the developer name.
TL:DR;
The more downloads your app gets, the higher it will rank in searches. Changing the app name is not a good idea, as you will then take another long while to rank in the search for the new app name. Maintain the current name, make it good so it drives installs and it will rank higher eventually
NOTE
It takes hour before the app shows in the search results. Meaning as you posted your app one hour ago, it will not rank for another day or so(in my experience). Getting it on top when there are many apps with similar names is even harder. But what you are experiencing is the time between your app being published and it showing in the search results.
No One knows search algorithm parameters except people at Google.
But there are a lot of articles with suggestions, and what parameters influence to the position in Google Play. First of all this is popularity of your app, its score, etc. So changing app name won't affect, while you have few downloads.
For instance, I uploaded an app, named TurtleInfo. I haven't seen apps with the same name, but as soon as my app is too specific and has less than 50 downloads, Google Play search displays my app on position about 20. The apps, that goes before, just different games about Turtles, that has much more downloads than mine.
So if you wanna see your app first in search result on Google Play, you have to make it high-quality and really popular!

write your package name in front of id. and you'll get your app

We have an app named "The Right Words". But it's package name is "ru.lextre.poetizr". Does it harm us when users search for our app in Play Store? I understand that the user-readable name is kinda generic, but at least it should appear quite high when searching for quoted string, shouldn't it? Right now, it appears somewhere in the middle of results, and if the search string is unquoted, it does not appear at all.
For example, The Real World app, which is also kinda generic, appears high in search for their name, despite having almost zero downloads.
Google Play makes it possible to search by package name. But I don't think it matters for search rankings.
If you have just released your app Google Play needs some time for indexing. But searching by package name works just after a new release.
Things that really matters are keywords in title and description, number of given user ratings and its score, amount of downloads and uninstalls.
I have uploaded an application in Google play. Application is available region specific. Application is uploaded in production with full-roll out.
In one of the device, application is visible and user installed it. After some X duration, same user in same device when he searches the application, application is not visible.
It's a strange behavior but why this behavior is seen?
Above scenario is searched in device Google play application only.
It might not always show if your app doesn't have enough unique keywords in the name. As stated in this thread, you can change your name in the Play Store Console and try some different combinations of words.
Also, there's possibility that your app that you're trying to search is not compatible with the device. This might be a reason why it is not showing up in your device. If you will sign into your Google account, then you click the install button (on the desktop site) it will show you the devices that are associated with that account asking with their compatibility. Google Play is not showing my app
It took almost couple of days for my app to show up. Just a small note, if you cannot find your app in the play store, try putting the name in double quotes like "Park The Car" or "Relationship Guru" and then search it. Even when Play store started showing my app, if I just search with the app name with no double quotes, I could not find it. I saw almost 500 apps and still I could not find my app. But on using double quotes, I got a perfect string match.
After 4 days app is still not indexed in Google Play search
Hope this helps!
Each time you release an app, the search ranking in the play store will be temporarily hit.
However, it will be restored within a day or two.
If your search visibility went out of ranking soon after the new update got to live in the play store, then there is nothing to worry about. It will be back soon.

I just uploaded my app to Android Play store. The problem now is when I search it at google play store, other app with similar name will pop on top of my app and I need to keep scroling until i found my app.
My I know why will this happen? Is it because of My app is a new app so need wait more download and review? or I have to implement "App indexing" "I search from google" to allow user to search my app easily on google play store?
Google wont push your app to the top until you've had more reviews and downloads than your competitors. There are a few things you can do to try and improve your position.
Try get a more unique name for your App.
Get as many friends and family members you can to download and review your app.
Use the name a few times in the description of your app.
Improve the text in your app description and info sections on the listing.
Give it some time.
App positioning in Goolge play store is a fine art, indeed there are many factors that can improve your apps position in the list. Below are a number of ways to improve your listing:
A full and comprehensive store listing
Regular and frequent application updates also promote your listing
SEO best practices
Rating and reviews always help too!
There're two possibilities.
One big posibility, the name for your app has keywords which are very competitive in play store. You need first to do some app search optimization.
There’s the second possibility that the app that you’re trying to search for is not compatible with your device. That is why it is not showing up in your device..
However, when you look upon the desktop site, it is visible.
Also, remember that It takes a while to appear on the play store and get ranked in search if you just uploaded it. Apart from that, you may also have poor search ranking if people tend to uninstall it, or you may not be searching for the right term.
You can rank good with these tips
Give it some time and perform ASO (APP Store Optimization)
Promote your application across different platforms like Blogs, youtube, Facebook pages.
Use ad services like google ads or Facebook ads to gain organic users.
I published an application with a unique name "Home Workout without Equipment" one month back and It's ranked with the help of ASO and proper keywords. It has 1000+ reviews and 50,000+ downloads in a short period of time.
So remember….
(Formula for my success)
[ASO + App Markeetring + Reviews = App Ranking]2
ASO+ AM+ R = AR
Play store rank apps on top based on good ASO and deep links associated with apps along with downloads and reviews. (Always remember to gain organic users)
I've just published my first Android app. While it is on the Play Store, I am unable to find it using the Title that I specified for it in the Developer Console ("Meal Timer"). In fact if I search for "Meal Timer" on Google Play none of the first page of results are actually called "Meal Timer".
On the other hand if I search for "Mealtimer" (without the space) I can find my app. "Mealtimer" is the name of the app in my Java package.
Why I am I unable to find my app by searching using its title?
Finding your application within the Play Store is completely down to the name of your app and how saturated the keywords your'e using are.
Lets say for instance your app is called "Wallpapers HD". There are hundreds of apps that have the keyword variation of "Wallpapers HD" in the name so when you release your app, the chances of that app being listed with very few downloads and ratings within the first page is extremly unlikely because there will be hundreds of other apps that have the same keywords and many more downloads and ratings giving that app more keyword strength.
Now lets say your app is called "Table Spoon Milkshake". Your app will be very more likely to be listed within the first page because not many apps would have those keywords in the title.
So you will need to wait until your app has more downloads and ratings so the keyword strength of your app will increase giving it more visiblity when you search for it.
Hope this helps you!
based on this video, i change my app title, keywords etc...but still can't get the app in play store search list https://play.google.com/store/... how to be discoverable if you just published a new app, if it is not on the search results...even if i type in the exact title of APP: "Allrecipes Healthy Food Recipe" or "Recipes from FoodTwitter" notice keyword "FoodTwitter" is pretty unique! but results are showing only top 300 recipe/recipes sites, but not mine. So, the point is...how new starters must tell users that there is a new app, if google store does not list them at all?
It takes a while untill you have enough downloads for google to shoot you higher up the list(if there is competision with the same/very similar app names) and if it is your first upload and there are no other with the same name, it takes a while untill the search connects that name with your app.
When I started out, my app was far down on the list, but a few weeks later it was at the top and I'm guessing because it got five stars by several people and got a load of downloads.
Google Play Store Visibility Algorythm works in mysterious ways so it is hard to give an exact answer without working at google with the play store, but it should still help you. Once your app is starting to generate downloads, the more it gets the higher it goes. It is a hard market because of the millions on millions of apps, so you just have to keep trying!
