I have the need to add the support for a DSL(domain-specific language) to the android studio. What I want to achieve is an extension recognized and syntax highlighting and at the moment of the creation of the new project set up the necessary files for the environment.
Looking around the web I haven't found a good way to do this. I have thought about some solutions but I can't figure out if these are realizable.
Solution 1:
Modify the standard Android project wizard maybe adding a checkbox that set up the environment for the type of language like the image below.

I think this is probably unachievable.
Solution 2:
Once I created my default Android project add in the right mouse button click menu an option to set up the environment for the project.
Solution 3:
Create a custom wizard project setup just for my language.
I don't know if it's possible to do a similar thing in Android Studio. Any help is appreciated

I'm encountering problem with Android studio formatting and the use case is:
Using Android studio 1.5.1 with my custom code style defined. Right click on a package and "Reformat code...", Check only on "Include subdirectories" and click Run. It gives me one-line changes in three classes. After that, if I repeat the same procedure, I get more changes in these three classes. After that, if I repeat the same procedure, I get even more formatting changes (using Github for Windows to see the changes).
How is that possible? Is someone experiencing the same problem?
i have an existing project on others pc, however, when i move the project files into another computer, the project itself unable to show the drag and drop view in the xaml file, it show the code view instead of drag and drop, how should i do to make let me see the designer view??
Are you using the Core Framework of xamarin or Xamarin Forms ? (I'm asking because you are talking about xaml files instead of xml)
If you are using the Core Framework juste have a look to this link coming from the xamarin documentation :
https://developer.xamarin.com/guides/android/user_interface/designer_overview/designer_walkthrough/
One last thing, instead of copying the files use a version management tools if is not the case (like github or bitbucket)
The installed Android SDK is probably too old. Consider updating it.
I'm not sure if its the right title but ill explain what i mean.
I'm making more than one android application, but they have the same structure
sliding menu , list view , about me , costume dialog with (copy, share, like)
with some modifications in the styles (colors, backgrounds , fonts , menu strings )
my qustion is : is there any way to use the structure as library or implemntation or anu other way
insted of coping the same codes in every projects ?
Basically what you want to do is to create an Android library. Just develop it like a normal application, with Activities and layout.
Please follow this tutorial to set up your project. http://www.vogella.com/tutorials/AndroidLibraryProjects/article.html
When you'll create a new project with the given library, all your code will be silently included and you'll get access to your Activities and even to your R class.
Try Android studio - Official IDE for android development. Simple to use.
There is an option to save your project as template. Tools > Save project as template
For eclipse I think you need to write plugin https://stackoverflow.com/a/4992150/3020568
Hello i am trying to create a android app and I need some help to start, i would like to know if there is some software which i can use to create all the buttons and other stuff connected with the user interface on xml .
thanks in advance.
There is no way to auto- design the desired layout, u can drag the view in layout editor for the ease , so that the xml declaration is half done.
Then you explicitly need to design and align the layout item as required.
You can follow the link here http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/layout-objects.html
If you are using eclipse then it provides the drag and drop options for creating UI in xml.
You can also take the help of DroidDraw software to generate the XML.
Yes, you can do that.
Assuming that you already have Eclipse IDE, navigate to:
/src/res/layout/main.xml
and switch to Graphical Layout (you can find it just below your XML code editor. Note that you might need to adjust something else, so you need to go back to XML editor anyway :)
Only 2 development softwares are popularly used for android development these are as follows,
Google Eclipse IDE & Intellij Android Studio
above both these softwares are good for android application development.
i personally suggest you to prefer Eclipse IDE for development of android application that will help you to provide all possible solutions
I'm working with Eclipse Helios on Android app and found that when constructing UI I'm not able to use common Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V. Using RMB+Paste works fine. However I'm also not able to paste using Eclipse menu -> Edit, where "Paste" is just disabled.
Please advice..
I'm also developing in Eclipse Helios, i just use RMB+Coby and RMB+Paste ?
But when you should paste something in again, you need to RMB the view where the copied items should go..
Does that work for you ?
