"Encasing" a map in a FrameLayout in an android app - android

I'm trying to create a vertical LinearLayout of elements as follows:
A text view (weight 0.05)
A map (weight 0.85)
A horizontal layout of edit field and button
So far it seems OK, but now I'm trying to put the map within a FrameLayout so that I can append child views to it, but when I do so, the map no longer appears. Can anyone help?

The weights look fine, and it seems to be a problem with the layout heights and widths, but I can't see what is wrong.


Your fragment width and height are zero. Try to increase them.

I am trying to build a layout with a right arrow and a vertical line with 2 textviews to right of it.
This layout will be used in a RecyclerView

How do I make it visible in my device ?
The blue line is very big I tried wrap_content but still did not work

You can simply align your lineView upto the height of text views. otherwise it will grow upto the device height. Refer this sample.

This is how it looks like:
The problem is, I have to define a predefined height of the custom row i.e 170dp currently. I am facing 2 problems because of this:
1) If I open the application in a small screen or a tablet device. The custom row is looking ugly i.e I loose the circular shape of the ImageView.
2) The text doesn't remain at the centre if there is a slight change in the layout.

How to place imageView inside AutocompleteTextView

I am trying to align the ImageView inside the Autocomplete textView. I did this but the ImageView appears below the AutocomplteTextView. I changed the width of textView but same problem arises. I am looking for something like this:

This is because you have placed the imageView below the AutoCompleteTextView in the xml. You will have to create a custom dropdown layout for images to appear in it.

Imageview not centered in parent - Android

I'm trying to position the blue icon precisely in the center of the card, but for some reason the icon goes up to the top of the card.

I assume that in gridview item your parent is LinearLayout which can't be seen from your code snippet. If that's the case, in FrameLayout properties set the height to wrap_content

1. Remove FrameLayout and add its attributes to child RelativeLayout.
2. Use attribute android:src instead of app:srcCompat to set image on ImageView.

How to overlay image in layout in android

I have two image in layout .I want to show second image in bottom edge curve of first image .Can anybody tell how to do like overlay image

Use FrameLayout :

Use a RelativeLayout, simple put the second ImageView below the first ImageView. Then what you have to do is to set the marginTop attribute of the second image to a negative value, and this value is the overlaying size, like this android:layout_marginTop="-1dp".
