Layout stays blank

I have added an ImageView and two TextFields to my Layout but when I look in the preview it just stays blank. It gives me the error "Rendering error". What can I do?

Change RealtiveLayout to RelativeLayout in your root Layout.

Imageview not centered in parent - Android

I'm trying to position the blue icon precisely in the center of the card, but for some reason the icon goes up to the top of the card.
Can someone tell me what's wrong?

I assume that in gridview item your parent is LinearLayout which can't be seen from your code snippet. If that's the case, in FrameLayout properties set the height to wrap_content

1. Remove FrameLayout and add its attributes to child RelativeLayout.

FYI, If you are using CardView as a container, then just put below LinearLayout inside your CardView.

I would suggest you to use relative layout . this will make your layout more flexible to edit. I have suggested a layout below , give it a try .

You have to use flowTextView jar to your project. Here you can find the jar:

Inside LinearLayout, place textview at the top to show the title. Make height wrap_content and width match_parent.
Below this, add linearlayout which contains textview and image. set orientation horizontal to inner liner layout.
For better placing you can always used relative layout. for example

What shall I do to make the horizontal line below the imageview,similar to that of my requirement(The image on the top)?
If I remove

then the line is not showing up.Also I understand that the margins occuring to the left and right of the horizontal line is due to android:layout_margin="10dp" within the imageview.But I cannot find a solution.

What I have done is to cut an image like this:
and set that image as the background of the relative layout within which my menu-icons resides.

You need to add the custom drawables for the shapes you desire for your views..and yes obviously this is a very generic way to do it. You obviously have to edit some properties or add some to suit your needs. The other way is to use LinearLayout and the android:layout_weight="1" property to make your imageviews similar in size.
