Device File Explorer option missing in Flutter Android Studio
(10 answers)
Closed 2 years ago.
I'm a beginner developer and I use flutter, I wanted to download databases inside my app in the emulator within Android Studio.
But no matter where I search, I can't find the Device File Explorer in the android studio, the only thing I find about it is in settings and it's a completely blank page (there is only the path where to download things).
For Normal Android Development, it's easy. Just go to
View -> Tool Windows -> Device Manager
But in Flutter Development, it's a little bit tricky.
First you have to Configure your Android Development with Flutter to see the Device Manager option.
Steps:
Click on the bottom right option where it says Event Log and then Press Configure Now
Done!
No go to the same path again which was
View -> Tool Windows
and here you can see the Device Manager is visible now.
You can just use your real device to test and It will be better.
Just connect your mobile with usb to your computer.
turn on USB debugging in developer mode.
you will see a dialog box in mobile just allow and you are ready to use it.
Hope it will be helpful I suggest it coz once when I was trying my app in emulator it was working fine but when I have tested it on real device many things were not working and I have to start my project from scratch. So I suggest to test on real device and in addition you will easily get file explorer and more.
I'm following along with the tutorial provided by the Android Developers official site and using the help files in Android Studio, but I'm finding out of date screenshots and feeling very confused and a little frustrated.
I have a Pixel 2 connected via usb.
I've enabled developer mode on the device.
I've got it not sleeping when connected via USB.
I've enabled USB debugging in the Developer Options on the phone.
...I just need to figure out how to get my Mac to see it via Android Studio.
The tutorial alludes to a configuration screen that I don't see in studio. I see something similar but the device drop down is disabled.
Hit the sync button,
Wait for downloads(don't stop the hidden downloads)
Restart if necessary, wait for the first invocation to complete work.
Then enjoy your first app.
Happy coding :)
answer: hit the sync button (elephant/mouse looking icon with a diagonal arrow), wait for downloads, don't stop the hidden downloads, then restart if necessary, wait for first invocation to complete, ...then it will (hopefully) work.

Plug in your android device click on run button and then click on troubleshoot. This will open Assistant on right side of the application and follow the steps to restart ADB server.
Hope this will help you, pal.
If the other answers don't work, you may need to setup new rom. I had to do that for my Samsung tablet. I tried s8 and j7 too they didn't work as the others.
You may wanna take a look to https://forum.xda-developers.com/ for that.
Please Use the below link Install & Read Instructions. USB OEM DRIVERS.
and Restart Computer.

-try ADB Driver
link hope this will help.
When I run the android emulator it gets stuck on the android animation. After I have waited 1 hour it said "Proccess system is not responding". I've tried to delete it and create a new one but it didn't work. I want to start android developing but I'm about to give up because nothing works. Please help.
Thanks in advance.
Try re-installing the avd. or better still you can use an android device an Emulator, which is better and faster. to use an android device follow this steps.
1. Get an android device and a usb cable.
2. Go to settings on your android device and select developer options.
If your device does not have the developer options, goto about phone and click on Build number 7 times., go back to settings (Developer options would have appered by then)
select developer options, turn it on and enable debugging.
3. plug your device into your system.
4. your phone will notify you on access to degug.. Accept.
5. Close any avd you might have opened before..
6. Run your app..
You are good too go...The app should run on your android device..

I am trying to view a sample app on a real device (a ViewSonic G-tablet), but the device won't display in the "Choose a running Android device" area. The virtual devices show, but no real devices show (there is only one plugged in, the G-tablet). Some other information...
I am using a Mac with Eclipse SDK 3.7.1 w/Android
App is noted as debuggable in manifest file (android:debuggable="true")
G-Tablet is set to allow debugging
Device selection is set to manual in SDK
I CAN view files on G-Tablet using Finder
I have reviewed Android developer docs
I have searched a lot online for a fix, without success
Please also note...
There is NO option on G-tablet to allow "unknown sources". However, I have downloaded apps outside the customary channels (e.g. Firefox from the Firefox site) and it works fine.
I do NOT want to do anything to the G-tablet to void the warranty.
I have already checked for/installed updates using the Android SDK Manager.
The fixes I was able to find on StackOverflow related to this problem did not work for me. I am thinking the problem may be device specific. One fix discussed getting a driver for the device, but I couldn't find one.
Can anyone please help me figure out how to get the SDK to recognize my device? I'd appreciate any insight on this.
Can you export the app as an .apk and run that on your G-tablet?
also is the android:minSdkVersion set to a value lower than your G-tablet's version?
Found the answer after trying a zillion things. All that needed to be done to fix the problem was turn to OFF 'USB debugging' and then turn it right back on. I found the idea on this page... http://www.mobileread.mobi/forums/showthread.php?t=156247 . Hope that might save someone else hours of time.
