Google Play Console - Search terms for play store - android

I submitted my first Flutter app to the Google Play Store using the Play Console. The app has been approved, but if I try to search by it's name "Roster Me On", it doesn't find it. But if I search by typing "rostermeon" it finds the app.
How do I set search terms for my app. Is this done in the Play Console or in my Flutter project?

Since the search term is not configurable, it mostly depends on how you build your store listing page. There are some recommendations that you can do, some from the official docs:
Use strong assets, including your app title, description, icon, feature graphic, screenshots, and video with high repetition of your keywords
Provide accurate categorization to help Google Play promote your app properly
Test different keywords for your listing page
Customize store listings and tailor your marketing messages to highlight key features and keywords for your app
Localize your app store listing for users in different markets around the world
Check out this official Q&A from Google. I'm sure it will help you a lot to boost your app's attention

Other people can correct me if I'm wrong.
This has nothing to do with your flutter code or on the Play console. This is how the Play console search algorithm works. Since you just launched your app and I assume it's not having a lot of traction, it is hard to get listed, given that your app name is ambiguous.
When you give the query Roast Me On, it has 3 words. Thus it's open to a lot of combinations of search results. But if you search roastmeon it's one word and it obviously has lower combinations to go through.
To improve this odd, Promote this app on social media. Ask people to rate it. The more traction your app gets, it is easy for you to get listed in search results. Also, add relevant keywords and use high-quality assets. The more Professional your app looks, it is definitely an advantage.

How do I find my app in Google Play?

After a long time in Beta, my app is now ready for publishing. I published it about an hour ago. It is named Colors, a very short and often used name. So that is also the title in Google Play. But now when I search for Colors my App isn't shown when I search for Colors (not in all findings (about 100)). It is there because when I also search with the developer name it comes up at place 8 or so. What to do now? Change the name or add something in it?
What would you suggest?
Here are the steps to find your app:
Go to the app console at https://play.google.com/apps/publish
Choose your app
Hover the icon with the "I" letter in the circle beside your app name
Click "View in the Play Store"
Note, that your app needs to be published (as on the attached screen).
Moreover, your app may not be published immediately and probably you need to wait about a few hours until your app will be officialy available in Google Play Store.
It may be not so easy to find your app via search if it has popular or common name. I such case, Google algorithms may adjust search results depending on a different criteria. When your app is new, it may not be recognizable in the beginning.
Firstly: If you published your app a short time ago, it is going to rank lower in searches. Give it a while, because the search feature is like google: It shows the most popular links with the same name first. It is the same thing with apps: The most popular with a given name rank first. FOr new apps, even when searching that name, similar names will rank higher because your app is newer.
Writing
pub:[Your Dev Name Here]
(without the brackets)
will show only the apps published by you. No space between : and the first letter in the developer name.
TL:DR;
The more downloads your app gets, the higher it will rank in searches. Changing the app name is not a good idea, as you will then take another long while to rank in the search for the new app name. Maintain the current name, make it good so it drives installs and it will rank higher eventually
NOTE
It takes hour before the app shows in the search results. Meaning as you posted your app one hour ago, it will not rank for another day or so(in my experience). Getting it on top when there are many apps with similar names is even harder. But what you are experiencing is the time between your app being published and it showing in the search results.
No One knows search algorithm parameters except people at Google.
But there are a lot of articles with suggestions, and what parameters influence to the position in Google Play. First of all this is popularity of your app, its score, etc. So changing app name won't affect, while you have few downloads.
For instance, I uploaded an app, named TurtleInfo. I haven't seen apps with the same name, but as soon as my app is too specific and has less than 50 downloads, Google Play search displays my app on position about 20. The apps, that goes before, just different games about Turtles, that has much more downloads than mine.
So if you wanna see your app first in search result on Google Play, you have to make it high-quality and really popular!

write your package name in front of id. and you'll get your app

App not showing in Google Play Store

I just uploaded my app to Android Play store. The problem now is when I search it at google play store, other app with similar name will pop on top of my app and I need to keep scroling until i found my app.
My I know why will this happen? Is it because of My app is a new app so need wait more download and review? or I have to implement "App indexing" "I search from google" to allow user to search my app easily on google play store?
Google wont push your app to the top until you've had more reviews and downloads than your competitors. There are a few things you can do to try and improve your position.
Try get a more unique name for your App.
Get as many friends and family members you can to download and review your app.
Use the name a few times in the description of your app.
Improve the text in your app description and info sections on the listing.
Give it some time.
App positioning in Goolge play store is a fine art, indeed there are many factors that can improve your apps position in the list. Below are a number of ways to improve your listing:
A full and comprehensive store listing
Regular and frequent application updates also promote your listing
SEO best practices
Rating and reviews always help too!
There're two possibilities.
One big posibility, the name for your app has keywords which are very competitive in play store. You need first to do some app search optimization.
There’s the second possibility that the app that you’re trying to search for is not compatible with your device. That is why it is not showing up in your device..
However, when you look upon the desktop site, it is visible.
Also, remember that It takes a while to appear on the play store and get ranked in search if you just uploaded it. Apart from that, you may also have poor search ranking if people tend to uninstall it, or you may not be searching for the right term.
You can rank good with these tips
Give it some time and perform ASO (APP Store Optimization)
Promote your application across different platforms like Blogs, youtube, Facebook pages.
Use ad services like google ads or Facebook ads to gain organic users.
I published an application with a unique name "Home Workout without Equipment" one month back and It's ranked with the help of ASO and proper keywords. It has 1000+ reviews and 50,000+ downloads in a short period of time.
So remember….
(Formula for my success)
[ASO + App Markeetring + Reviews = App Ranking]2
ASO+ AM+ R = AR
Play store rank apps on top based on good ASO and deep links associated with apps along with downloads and reviews. (Always remember to gain organic users)

Android App name conflict

I am about to launch an android app and I have decided the name "Math addict" for it.
The problem is -
There is a website named mathaddict.com which has their software called Math addict but I couldn't find copyright documents on their website.
An app exists on Apple App store with the exact same name.
But there is no app with such name on Google Play as of now. Moreover I haven't copied anything from any lf these apps/softwares.
Is it advisable to use this name for my app? My apps have been suspended on Google Play in the past and hence I am little more apprensive this time.
Please suggest what can be done.
I also suggest you jse a different name, let's assume someone search's Math addict in google it is highly possible that the web site you mentionned and the app from app store will be shown at first so yours will be the last except if you do some good work on keywords optimisation,
You instead use something like Math addict app , mathapp, appmath
IANAL. As long as you are not trying to impersonate these other products, you should be fine. However, in the extreme case this can quickly lead to some ugly court battles if your app is in competition with these other websites and products. Assuming that you are a single developer, you probably don't have to worry about this. However, if you have a large success, then you might need to be concerned. The legal battles between Apple Computers and Apple Music are quite famous for fighting over the legal right to a name.
I really don't think you need to be worried about the legalities here. On the other hand, you want your app to be found and not to be confused with other similar apps. At this point, I think differentiating yourself from the competition is probably a much higher concern.
According to Google Play policy:
Impersonation or Deceptive Behavior: Don't pretend to be someone else,
and don't represent that your app is authorized by or produced by
another company or organization if that is not the case. Products or
the ads they contain also must not mimic functionality or warnings
from the operating system or other apps. Products must not contain
false or misleading information in any content, title, icon,
description, or screenshots. Developers must not divert users or
provide links to any other site that mimics or passes itself off as
another app or service. Apps must not have names or icons that appear
confusingly similar to existing products, or to apps supplied with the
device (such as Camera, Gallery or Messaging).

So I will highly suggest you to select a different name for safety.

Can't find app in store without quotations around app name or remove space between names

I recently upload my app to the Google Play Store. I'm able to view my app in store by clicking from the developer's console. However, when I try to search the app myself by typing the name of the app it won't show up. I know this question has been raised many times, but I didn't really find a solution for this problem. The name of the app is called "Auto Reply Text Message".
I guess what I want to ask is that if it is possible to allow the user to find the app without putting the quotations around the name or removing all the spaces between?
Thank you in advanced.
so I called Google yesterday, and below are their response:
"
Thank you for your reply and your question about Google Play search.
When searching on Google Play, application search works across title, publisher and app descriptions. It's not easy to refine the search results appropriately when it comes to generic words that may also happen to be brand names or titles. For example, when a user searches for "Color Game", it's difficult to tell if the user is searching for an app named "Color Game" or for a game about colors. Because of this, we cannot guarantee that every app will display in search results for its name.
Please note, we show a limited number of search results in Google Play to ensure the best user experience. If your app's search rank for a specific term is too low, your app will not display in results. Keep in mind, however, that your app is always available by direct link (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cle.app.auto.reply.text.message), which you can share with users as you actively market your app. You can also recommend users search for your app’s name in quotes (i.e. "app name") to have our search engine look for that exact combination of words.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. If you have additional questions, please let me know.
"
So basically it has to do with their searching algorithm. I guess if your app has been downloaded for many times and becomes a popular app, Google will make your app a special case for searching and allow other people to search for your app without the quotations.
Thank you andrew for helping.

Searching my application published on Google Play

There is the following strange problem: I've published some app on Google Play, for example "My Horse" (2 words in name). But if I search my app as "My Horse" I can't find it! If I use "myhorse" (as a single word) all is good. As I know I use "My Horse" in all settings in the developer's console and Android string resources. How can I fix it?
Unlike iOS in android you have no control over the keywords, just make sure your app description contain the keywords and the Console Search engine will take care of everything magically.
If you recently submitted your app, then give it time, it will show in your search results.
In addition to #meda points, I would say The ranking algorithm doesn't order the results only by app names, it also includes app ratings, relevant keywords in your description ,number of downloads, Star rating, Speed of downloads vs release date and probably some other stuff.
