After downloading Termux from the Google Play store, FDroid, and Github, I got the error
Unable to Install
Termux was unable to install the bootstrap packages.
Check your network connection and try again.
I looked through Github and found this this reply saying to try to connect to http://termux.net/bootstrap/ in a browser. I tried with the phone I'm trying to put Termux on (Galaxy s5 with Android 6.0.1) and got a response saying 'connection timed out'. I tried on my desktop which is on the same network, and got the same response. I made a simple python script using the requests module on a Replit server and got the same response with error 522.
It seems like the Termux.net website isnt working for some reason, maybe because of a WiFi setting that has to get changed? What else do I try?
Issue is that old links for bootstrap package for Android versions 5 and 6 are not available anymore, for example domain https://termux.net is down and you can not access it.
You can fix this issue by following this wiki:
https://github.com/termux/termux-app/wiki/Termux-on-android-5-or-6
You can install artifacts from this link:
https://github.com/termux/termux-app/actions/runs/2619084610
*Zipped APK file termux-app_v0.118.0+605dd6c-apt-android-5-github-debug_armeabi-v7a can be downloaded from this link:

*Note: Direct APK link will only work if you are signed in with your GitHub account
works great, just download the apk from link above and install

I would like to capture the traffic of the IONOS App (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oneandone.ciso.mobile.app.android&hl=de&gl=US).
The reason is simple: I need the API to configure my server and the support told me that i have to find it out by myself.
So I modified the apk and after the login it crashed, never had this behaviour before...
I tried to install the original apk file and it also crashed. (adb install <name.spk>)
(yes, i turned of signature verification for apps installed via usb.)
Any ideas how I could figure out the reason the this issue?
Other apks I could install this way without any problems.
Thanks for your help

I have had a problem on Android Marshmallow (6.0) installing an apk from Google Chrome on the device. I have a Lollipop device (5~) that allows install, however the Marshmallow device just states "Cannot open file". I have no problem using Appgyver's supersonic package tool but with Ionic Package it won't allow me to install from an apk.
I've done some research and found that by using an alternative browser on the device such as firefox or by using a third party file manager I am able to install the apk. The article below suggests Google Chrome is now locking out app installs not on the play store but I'm doubtful of this theory due to being able to install other apk's ok.
Frostwire Article for workaround
This has been a common workaround used by other reports of a similar issue online and does work for my case. Unfortunately this is an effort required by the customer that is damaging to the ease of access to the application.
It seems to be an issue exclusive to Android 6.0 (not exclusively Ionic package built apk's). This being said as I am able to build an apk and install from Chrome using Appgyvers 'Supersonic' services using the same device so I'm lead to believe there is indeed a solution to the problem.
Be aware that I am using Ionic package to build a "release" version and customers cannot have "developer mode" turned on. As well as this I have "allow untrusted sources option" engaged.
Does anyone have any insight on this problem?
So I discovered the problem. It appears firefox and older versions of Chrome are far less picky with Content-Type headers on file downloads for apk's. The App was being downloaded with the content-type head of application/octet-stream. Firefox (Android 6) and Chrome (Android 5.1) took no notice of this when trying to figure out the file type and were happy enough installing.
However Chrome on Android 6.0 requires a content type of application/vnd.android.package-archive for it to discern the type of file it has downloaded.
Anyway I made that change on the download and it now works!
I have Jellybean 4.2.2 on my phone. (I haven't rooted my device)
I recently updated Google Maps but it wasn't working. So I uninstalled it and tried to do a new install. Every time I try to install it from Play Store, an error message is displayed saying the process could not be completed and the installation cancels after every 65% completion.
I even tried installing it on my phone via the .apk file but to no use. An error message was displayed saying package could not be parsed.
Please help me out, I have searched many forums but couldn't find a suitable solution to my problem.
Thanks in advance.
While downloading from play store make sure you have a good speed internet connection.
You may get the Error "There is a Problem Parsing the Package" Due to following Reasons:
The Downloaded .apk file is Currupted or not fully downloaded
You might have turned off “Allow installation of apps from Unknown Sources”
If the App is not Compatible with the Hardware or the Version of OS you are using.
You may be able to fix the problem trying any of the steps described below:
1. Allowing Installation from Unknown Sources:
- Go to your Device Setting Menu
- Scroll down and Click on Applications
- Now Check the Box of Unknown Sources to allow installation of non Market Applications
After Completing the Above Simple steps you may now try and install the app.
2.Inspect Your APK File:
If the Above Fix do not work then you may inspect the apk file. Check that the file is Fully downloaded and is not Corrupted.
If you have downloaded the apk file from any other place rather then Google play store then Make sure you download it from Google play store this time and try to install it.
3.App is not Compatible with your Device or OS:
If you are still not able to Get rid of the error then it clearly indicates that the file that you have downloaded is not Compatible with your Device hardware or Operating System.
I am making an app which makes reference to Linphone app. I am sending an intent from a service in linphone to my app.
I installed Linphone on emulator (Android as well as Google API); but it installs erroneously and doesn't start. Logcat shows Cannot start linphone error. Because of this, my app couldn't get installed. I get foll. error and installation stops:
Installation error: INSTALL_FAILED_MISSING_SHARED_LIBRARY
So I installed Linphone on a device (Beetel android pad) and it works fine. After this, when I try to install my app, it fails to install. I am suspecting that it's the same problem as that in emulator. What can be the problem n how to solve it?
I have included <uses-library android:name="org.linphone" /> in manifest file.
I checked on the net, but I found results which mainly talked about apps using Google Maps and people advised to use Google API Emulator. I tried that but it didn't help me as anyway I am not using any Google API/service.
Any help in solving this problem or giving some direction towards it will be really appreciated.
Thanks,
Sagar.
run android.exe or android.sh utility this will bring up the program to install android SDk. Go to third party add-ons and select Google Api's. After they have been deployed/installed. Please make sure to re-start adb. If you are prompted for a restart of adb. Please say yes.
I am not sure with the ans. BUt I got it from a link, where the problem is same as u have mentioned here.
getting error msg install failed missing shared library
I have developed an application using Android SDK 1.5, application works well on Android Simulator.
Now, I am trying to install application on actual device. I don't have the Android device. So, I am going by OTA way.
For this, I have generated the self sign keystore using keytool utility.
And, using Eclipse's "Eclipse Signed Application package.." option I have generated the signed .apk file and moved it to my web server.
Also, i added MIME type on web server for .apk.
But, when I am trying to download and install the same application on device, application get downloaded and it also prompts for permission. After thag when I click on "Install", it fails with error Application Install Unsuccefull.
Interestingly, I test this url on simulator browser, and it worked perfectly well and application get installed successfully.
Even, I checked that, SDCard is there on device. Settings -> Applications and "Unknown sources" option is alos checked.
Am I clear to you all?
Any Idea what may be going wrong here?
Thanks and appreciate your response,
S.Satheesh
What happens if connect the phone via a USB cable and install the application using the adb install command? Testing this will allow you to determine if the problem is with the package or the over the air update.
Also, you could try running adb logcat to view the logs from your phone after the failed install as this should show you what the problem is.
