App Annie is not only a great tool to do market research and validate your app idea, it's also very useful to track your app downloads, revenue and usage. You can also track the performance of your ad campaigns.

How can I get my App in the similar apps category at google play store?

I have published my contacts backup app at google play store. I have also run campaigns on adwords, But its still not getting any handsome user, I want to be the app in similar apps when anyone explores the relevant apps on play store, any solution, or how the google algos work to get the app in similar apps..
Google uses the information you supply when publishing your app to the Play Store to determine how it will be displayed. If you enlist your app as a productivity app on the play store, then your app is most likely to be displayed to a user who is browsing productivity apps.
Providing a category alone isn't enough for your app to be listed in similar apps section. There is only space for a few apps so Google tries to only list the most popular and apps that are in-demand. The app-ranking algorithm works very similar to the page-ranking algorithm used on Google. Several factors are taken into consideration, a few of which are how many downloads your app have and also how stable it is.

Share internal Android App release with anyone?

It's my first time publishing an Android App to the Play Store.
I'm faced with the following situation:
My app is currently in a pre-release state with some minor bugs. I would like to provide a download link in a cold email-campaign to a portion of my clients (around 100 testers) to collaborate on the product. Obviously I don't know all of their Google Account emails and it would be impractical to reach to every single one of them.
Is there a way to invite the testers to my internal testing track with just a download link? I don't mind if the testers share the link in their company ...
And is there ideally a way for me to see, which Google Accounts used that download link?
Thanks in advance.

Unpublished app from google play store it available in other sites / play store

I released an app in the Google Play Store. After a few months I unpublished that app. The problem now is that the same app is available in some other sites / Play Store. When I search the app name in Google, I can see the app and I can download it. The app is still unpublished in the app store.
How to solve this problem? Unpublished app cannot see any where.
ask the site owner to take down your application. The will. But it will appear later. So basically there is no solution for your problem but ask site owner to take down the apk.
This site are doing fake advertistment for you!
They are saying, that your app has more then 50.000 downloads and so on.
It´s just at the beginning, later if you register your app on this site, you have to pay for the fake download values.
PS:
https://mobiles10.info/app/riftboy-dexter/de.hhn.laborgames.coffegame.riftboydexter/
This is a game, which i create with some students during my studies...
I'm sure, we have only 5 downloads, but this site says:
Average rating for Riftboy Dexter Game is 4.1/5 from total 137 user votes.
..
So don´t care about it.

Is there any way to download an app beyond Play Store?

I've published an app and I have a theoric doubt. In my google play administrator page, it shows me that my app was downloaded by 18 devices, but when I look at the google analytics, on the same period, I have over 100 devices.
I've looked for other links on Google, but every link that I found redirects to Google Play, so Google Play should count it. Is there any way to download the app from google play, and then, get the apk?
The funniest part is that I didn't spread this app and when I look at the place of the users, it's from India, Sudan, etc..(I'm from Brazil, the other side of the world)..
Yes there is a way. Apk can be downloaded from Google Play and than shared as file somewhere else. These downloaded apks are disributed commonly in these countries like India etc.
For example there is an extension to it for chrome https://lekensteyn.nl/apk-downloader/.
So I would say your Google Analytics data are valid.
Is there any way to download the app from google play, and then, get the apk?
Sure. Copying the APK off of a device is not that difficult. In addition, software pirates bulk download pretty much everything uploaded to the Play Store and make it available from their own sites.

Usage statitics of Google Play: phone app VS website

I am considering hiring a graphic designer to create a high res (1 024 x 500) "promotional" image for my app.
From my experience (browsing through other apps), I noticed that this kind of image is only shown in full size on the web version of the Google Play store.
In order to get a better feeling of what the ROI could be, I would really like to know what percentage of app downloads is made through Google Play website (VS. through the regular Android mobile app).
Is this figure public ?
Did you manage to get some stats by tracking the download origin from your own apps ?
From my experience (application with 300 000 downloads), less than 5% of the downloads come from Google Play website. I don't know about public figures, I got this data by tracking the Google Play installation referrers (utm_source=google is Google Play website).
This doesn't give me an exact count, because there are installs without referrers, but it helps getting a general idea.
Of course, what is valid for my app is maybe not for you. I'd say that the more people can find your Google Play page from Google search using keywords, the more you'll have downloads from the webpage. Most people browse the app store directly from their device.
