Option to "build signed apk" missing - android

After updating my Android Studio to the latest version, I can no longer find the option to build signed apk.
I have tried installing beta and canary builds of Android Studio but they do not seem to carry the option either. Can someone help me figure out how to generate signed apks?

I've tried re-installing Android SDK Build Tools but that didn't work for me. But I managed to see the option by ensuring that the project is opened in the Android directory instead of the project root.

Try Invalidate restart
Goto File > Invalidate Caches/Restart
If you still face the problem then you have to reinstall the android studio not the build.
Delete the android studio folder from users or where you have given the path while installing.then open the android studio and it will automatically start installing

I solved this issue by deleting and re-downloading Android SDK Build-Tools. Posting this here in case anyone else is facing this issue.

Quick fix is go to File->project Structure->build variants,in build types choose the build you want Debug or Release,scroll down and add a key to Manifest Placeholders apply the changes and click OK,i hope you'll find Generate signed bundle/APK options under build,i don't know if it's the right way to do,it's a rough guess.

Following solution worked for me.
After lot of research, I found this reference. https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/build-tools.
Here as mentioned, we need to specify android build tool version in app\build.gradle file.
android {
buildToolsVersion "29.0.2"
}

I initially had problem with node on my project so I added this on terminal:
sudo ln -s "$(which node)" /usr/local/bin/node
Then on File > Sync Project with Gradle File System.
After this it showed on the Build menu.
Maybe, after this you can also do: File > Invalidate Chaches / Restart....

Just open your project in Android Studio and click where shown below.
After that, the option will become available.

In my case the problem was in build.gradle, verify if you have specify :
apply plugin: 'com.android.application'

You have to connect a testing device or create a new virtual device (if you actually have not).

My problem was also around the Android SDK Build-Tools, but the reinstall was not solving the issue.
I had to look at the logfile and find out, that I was using a platform version which wasn't installed. When I selected the particular verision in the SDK installer, everything started working again.

I had the same problem, open your project directly on android folder

No builders are available to build a model of type 'org.jetbrains.plugins.gradle.model.internal.DummyModel'

After upgrading Android Studio to 4.0 version and in "gradle-wrapper.properties" :
distributionUrl=https://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-6.1.1-all.zip
I am getting the following error in Android Studio while syncing:
No builders are available to build a model of type 'org.jetbrains.plugins.gradle.model.internal.DummyModel'.
and unable to create or run the app build.
This can be one solution. I tried Copy and Cut everything in the setting.gradle file located in the project directory then SYNC project after Gradle is complete. Later paste the content back to the file and SYNC again. This not worked for me but for others, it worked.
Another solution is to downgrade the android studio to v 3.6.3 download by clicking here. You can follow these steps to downgrade the android studio. This solution worked for me and now I can build and run the application successfully.
I solved it by navigating to the Project settings in the settings.gradle file and COPY and CUT everything then SYNC the project after gradle is complete PASTE back the content you had copied and SYNC again.
This worked for me
Still not worked
Please use different gradle version.
ie case gradle-wrapper.properties. Instead of your version
distributionUrl=https://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-*.*.*-all.zip
update with
distributionUrl=https\://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-5.6.4-all.zip
Thanks
I tried all the solutions above but I didn't succeed so I uninstall android studio and then installed it again and saw all the problems solved and I have no problem . so I recommend you reinstall the program as a last step .
REINSTALL

Please configure Android SDK

I am getting this error:
Please configure Android SDK
Onclick of configure i getting one popup
After changing Build Tool Version on the pop screen
26.0.1 changed into 26.0.3 // else selected the highest available version
then click OK started working for me...
(or)
Simply Restart Andoid Studio File->Invalidate Caches and restart
FIX FOR 3.1.2 OR NEWER VERSIONS
I faced the same issue on Android studio 3.1.2, but a simple Sync didn't work for me.The solution was a bit different:
I go to
File -> Invalidate Caches -> Invalidate
File -> Close Project.
Remove the project from the Android Studio project selector window.
Quit from Android Studio(X)
Start Android studio and open project again
I consumed a few hours to fix this issue:
First Click 'Sync' gradle
Then clean and rebuild the application
And invalidate and restart
You can close this project first.
Then DELETE ALL temp file and generated file,
including .gradle, .idea, build in your project's root directory and also build in app path.
Finally, restart your project, problem should be solved. Good Luck !
After executing these two adb commands, it also works fine for me.
(1) adb kill-server
(2) adb start-server
I had the same issue and tried all of the above and it did not help.
I ended up closing everything and rebooting my Mac.
Reopened Android Studio and it was back to normal :)
In build.gradle (Module: app) I changed "compileSdkVersion 23" to 26
Then it works.
Maybe also work for you.
For me solution was to sync project with gradle files.

Cannot run my app, asking to select Android SDK

Today I've installed Android Studio Canary 1
Now I cannot run my app. This following dialog appears.
I've already set the right SDK location through File-> Project Structure-> Android SDK location.
Expecting your help to solve this problem.
Warning Dialog image:
Go to project structure settings and set Source Compatibility and Target Compatibility to your current java development kit version:
Just you need to sync your project file with your gradle file.
File -> Sync Project with Gradle Files
I tried every answer in this post but my problem only got resolved when I made these steps:
File -> Close project -> Remove project -> Open existing project (same
project)
Maybe this will save a morning to another person with the same bug.
EDIT
This happened to me a lot on a MacBook. After I posted this answer it just kept happening so what I did was:
uninstall the Android Studio version I had from the App Store;
download the desktop stable version from Android Studio website;
start using the desktop version of Android Studio.
Never happened again.
Sometimes the SDK path will be incorrectly configured. You would need to fix it.
To Settings/Preferences( command + , on mac).
Search for SDK
Under Android SDK, click on edit and point it the root of sdk directory on your file system. (If ther is no SDk installed then install in from the below list).
i suggest you go to build.gradle and sync again.
Or Tools -> Android -> Sync Project with Gradle Files (Android 3+)
You need to insall SDK api 19 check this out.
https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platforms
Go to sdk manager and install sdk according to your device and check your device api. Example if your device is jellybean then install api 19 sdk.
Go to Tools> Android > SDK Manager and make sure you have selected default Setting under System Setting. In this image I have selected Android 7.1.1 as default SDK
Just click on the button ..."Sync Project with gradle file"
Error will be remove
I had the same problem and what it worked for me was just sync with gradle.
I just did what I've found in this similar question:
How do I "select Android SDK" in Android Studio?
The original answer:
go to build.gradle and click sync now. Then it worked.
Update :
File -> Sync Project with Gradle Files (Android Studio 3.1.1)
Tools -> Android -> Sync Project with Gradle Files (Android Studio
3.0.1) Or You can click on the icon from the toolbar.
Sync Project Icon
This answer may not help works for later version as Android studio Team work on making the tool more better, the way to sync may be
different in the next version of Android Studio.
COMMON WAY that may helps is try to sync project and then Invalidate
Caches and Restart Android Studio.
Solution for Android Studio 3.1.2
Before that, by the way, I had invalidated cache and restarted too, but it didn't work.
Please, try and let us know.
P.S.
I had this problem after I imported a project from Git, just in case someone would like to replicate.

Android Studio : Unable to delete original file

I'm very new to android and I just recently cloned an Android project.
When Android Studios performs the indexing once opening the project, i get this error all the time.
this is the error I get from Android Studio.
Error:(89, 0) Failed to delete original file 'C:\Users\myname\AppData\Local\Temp\gradle_download8065263342645015068bin'
after copy to 'C:\Users\myname\.gradle\caches\modules-2\files-2.1\com.android.tools.build\gradle\1.5.0\1c3d2b23212349ffbe6479fcb04732c5cddaf98b\gradle-1.5.0.pom'
Open File
Try the next step to "Refresh" your IDE (android studio)
Choose File | Invalidate Caches/Restart.
Another possible cause is the Anti-virus. It may block Gradle or Java
There can be multiple reasons for this error but are usually linked to Rights. I solved this by following these 2 different steps at different times.
Run Android Studio as Administrator
Check if the your project folder is read-only ? If yes, remove the read-only attribute from Folder Properties.
If Invalidate Caches/Restart doesn't work, change your GRADLE BUILD TOOL to any lower Version, or different Version untill it works
For me I got the error for Gragle 2.2.3, but fixed when I changed to 2.1.3, you can try with different newer versions from here Gradle Build Tools
I was able to solve my issue by disabling the Instant Run feature of android studio.

Android studio AssertionError: Don't invoke waitForSmartMode from inside read action in dumb mode

I have been facing this problem since i updated to Android Studio 2.1 RC . A quick google search shows that the problem is being faced by developers using Android Studio 2.1. The issue appeared in April and a solution have not been found yet.
I had the same issue. I fixed it with:
1. Build, Clean project.
2. Build, Build APK.
3. Build, Generate Signed APK
I ended up needing to delete the projects cache directory. You can just delete the .gradle directory so that it can be regenerated.
