Computer Vision and AR libraries availabe for Android? - android

I am starting out as an Android Developer, and I would like to know if there are any Computer vision libraries or Augmented Reality libraries for the Android SDK, as I am planning to use these libraries for a mobile app.
I have read that if I download the NDK, I might be able to "import/use" the C openCV, and ARtoolkit libraries, but I am wondering if this is possible, or if there is a better and easier way of using these tools.
Android apps are programmed in Java, yet OpenCV & ARtoolkit use C/C++. Is there any way to use these libraries?

There are a number of wrappers for OpenCV available. For Java you might check JavaCV out.
To my knowledge, there is GSoC activity on AR with OpenCV on Android, but they seem to use C++.

Qualcomm is working on an Augmented Library for Android. As was mentioned opencv is also an option.

The simplest solution is to create a Vision layer, then use launcher creator for Android to create a layer launching app.

You can code in Java using OpenCV4Android, the official Android port of OpenCV. If you want to use native C++ OpenCV code, check out the Android NDK instead.

There's a new option for CV on Android, the Google Mobile Vision API. The API is exposed through com.google.android.gms.vision and lets you detect various types of objects (faces, barcodes, and facial features) given an arbitrary image bitmap.
In addition, Google provides the Cardboard VR library and a Unity plugin to make it easier for you to develop VR applications - such applications could include AR based on Mobile Vision if you integrated the phone's camera.

Now Google offers us 2 powerful SDKs: ARCore and ML Kit.
ARCore API has such important features as Augmented Images, Augmented Faces and Cloud Anchors. It supports Kotlin/Java languages, debugging apps on Emulator (AVD) and physically based rendering (PBR) with a help of Sceneform.
ML Kit API brings Google’s machine learning expertise to mobile developers in a powerful and easy-to-use package. Although ML Kit is still in beta stage it allows you to work with such important features as: Image Labelling, Text Recognition, Face Detection, Barcode Scanning, and Landmark Detection.

I have explore an ARCore demo provided by Google which allows transferring the AR objects between Android & iOS devices.
How to achieve such things on iOS.
I have tried with Google's ARCore library and one ref. application "Just a line".
I think it's possible by using - ARKit (iOS), WebRTC & AR-Rendering.

How to add Models in Camera View in Android Studio?

I'm developing Augmented Reality base Application in android.
In which I want to add model or image when camera view open.
How can I do that with Android Studio?
I know there are libraries like vuforia but I don't want to use library.
Do you want image recognition or just to place an image in an AR scene?
ARCore by Google supports augmented reality and allows you to orient the device in the world, but does not yet support image recognition, so no detecting an image. To do image recognition, you'll need to use an external library/service (like Vuforia which you mentioned above).
If you want to use iOS, ARKit 1.5 (coming out in iOS 11.3) will support Image Detection.

You can use Unity very easily. you'll need to download the package 'Vuforia' for using AR with Unity. Read up on Vuforia's documentation pages. For android applications, you can download Android's SDK for AR, and for apple use the Apple ARKit.

daydream controller support for android vr app built with android studio

I am using Android Studio to build a Android vr app with Google DayDream android vr sdk.
I would like my users to be able to interact with the vr environment with their controllers that come with the vr headset.
But when I looked at the official documentation, I noticed that the controller support seems to be available only for Unity and Unreal. So I am wondering if I am still able to display a controller 3D model and its laser visualization with only the Android sdk.

If not, is it recommended that I use Unity for my Android vr app development.
I would recommend using the C++ version of the of the arm model that is included as part of Unreal. The arm model has no dependencies on Unreal code, so you should be able to integrate it into your app. If you are currently writing a java only app, this would require you to use the android NDK. Alternatively, you could look at porting the code to Java.
The arm model will only give you the position/orientation for the controller. If you do this, you will still need to render the controller and laser yourself in your application. You can pull the art assets from Unreal or Unity to do this.
Daydream development in Unity is fully supported, but you'll have to decide for yourself what is the best platform to use for your needs based on what type of development environment you prefer.

AR marker detection in android

I am developing an android application in which the AR Marker is detected using camera and compared with existing markers if the match found respective video is fetched and played in android. Is there is inbuilt SDK or API is there? Guide how to implement it?
