I have a button on a relative layout that hugs the buttom of the parent, but since there is not much above the button, the height of it is massive and extends to the object above it. What kind of code can I use to make sure the button stays at a normal height while still hugging the bottom of the parent?

I cant move any elements in the layout (android studio) for some reason..
I searched alot and nothing worked with me.
All text views or buttons (all elements) stays top-left and I cant move them or even resize them...
Whats the solution for that?
And if I tried to resize the button it fills up the whole screen.

This is happening as you have used constraint layout in your XML file.
and the constraints as you have given in your file that makes your elements stay up at the top left.
Solution 1:
When you give start to start constraint to the parent and end to end constraint to the parent it makes your view to stick to the both side of the screen.
Even if you have given your view's height and width to wrap content it will be considered as match parent.

as This will make your view to stretch to the both side of the screen and will take whole space horizontally.
all you need to do is remove the constraints mentioned below:
if you want to let your view to stick to the left side of the screen-
Remove EndtoEndof = parent constraint
if you want to let your view to stick to the right side of the screen-
Remove StarttoStartof = parent constraint
The issue with resizing the button is that you have given the constraints to the view to stick to bottom and top of the screen so it will take up whole screen vertically.
if you want to make your button to stay to the bottom
Remove toptotopof = parent
if you want to make your button to stay to the top
Remove bottomtoBottomof= parent
all you need is to understand how constraint layout works .

What's the best approach to have a layout with the following:
Spinner (default height)
WebView (all the space between the two views (Spinner and Button))
Button (default height)
How is it possible to specify the height of the WebView to take all the space between the two (i.e. if they are resized later, the WebView will automatically be adjusted).

Use a RelativeLayout as the parent layout. Align the Spinner to the top of the parent. Align the Button to the bottom of the parent. For the WebView, set the height as match_parent and then use the android:layout_below and android:layout_above attributes to make sure that it always lies between the two views.
(I would've given the code but I don't want to. You might just copy paste with zero learning.)
I've got next problem.
There is ImageView and button panel below it. I want ImageView to be as large as it needs, but if there is no enough space button panel should be present on screen and Imageview should be shrinked. What is the best solution for that?

What does android:layout_weight mean?
In case there is only 2 views in one layout (ie. Imageview and button) you can put both view in linearlayout and give value 1 for imageview weight layout (and doesn't give any value for the button)
My android page has 10 EditText and 10 TextView. but there is no space in my screen in the Graphical Layout. i just added 5 only. im using Scroll layout. how to add additional 5 items in the screen without reducing the items height. Is there any coding here.?

You can add multiple items inside a LinearLayout. Since ScrollView is scrollable it won't affect the dimensions of the Views inside. You can add as many views as you need without worrying about screen size or View size..
You should add a LinearLayout as the only child inside your ScrollView. Then get a reference to that LinearLayout :
mLayout=(LinearLayout)findViewById(R.id.myLayout);
and then add Views dynamically from code using :
EditText et=new EditText(...);
//....
mLayout.addView(et);
A ScrollView can have only one direct child, so you need to put all the other Views in a Layout, such as LinearLayout and put that layout in ScrollView
Make your ScrollView's height as match_parent and the inner LinearLayout's height as wrap_content. The LinearLayout will stretch according to the number of children inside it and if the height exceeds the height of the ScrollView, the overflow can be seen by scrolling. If the ScrollView and inner Layout both have same height or if ScrollView have larger height than inner Layout, the scrolling won't happen for obvious reason.
Is there a way to declare a row of buttons in XML so that all the buttons have the same width, which is equal to the wrap_content width of the widest button? I'm familiar with the trick of setting all the widths to 0 and assign them all a weight of 1, but that won't work if the parent layout width is set to wrap_content. I don't want to set the parent width to fill_parent because I don't want the buttons stretched more than necessary.
The only way I can think of doing this is in code (either with onMeasure logic in each button that communicates with the other buttons or with a custom layout class).
I think you'd have to do this in code.
Creating a custom layout class would be the way to go. Override onMeasure() and make it look something like this:
Call setLayoutParams on all children to set their layout_widths to WRAP_CONTENT.
Call super.onMeasure()
Iterate child views to find the one with the biggest getMeasuredWidth().
Iterate all other child views calling setLayoutParams() with the widest pixel width.
Call super.onMeasure() again. :)
That should work but I won't stake my reputation on it... happy to help you further if it doesn't.
To get the buttons in a row in the XML you need to add the buttons with in a LinearLayout and change the orietnation to horizontal i.e.

android:layout_height="wrap_content"
</LinearLayout>
As for getting the widest button and changing all the other buttons to match I am not sure as a guess you would have to have some sort of method within your activity to get the widest button and then programaticaly set all the other buttons to be the same.
Just find out what your widest button is, but it in a view with a horizontal width to match, and then use layout_width="match_parent" or "fill_parent" in < 2.3.
It'll make them all use the width assigned.
If you want to do it programatically, you need to iterate over all the sections, find the max, than iterate again and set it.
