Help creating an app with parsing - android

I'm working on my University thesis creating an android app. As I'm new in android development I would like to read your opinion on that.
I would like to create an app that has a home screen with n buttons. This will be the app for my uni forum. When I press the "announcement" button for example I want to get the announcements from my university site.
The problem is, that this site doesn't have a rss feed and but I want to see the announcements in the app and not with a WebView.
Could you please tell me what I have to search for? HTML parsing? Hope my question is understandable.

Extract html data after logging into website from android app

I recently started to learn to develop apps for android, but I'm stuck for quite a while on 1 problem:
I want to log from my app to a website (http://student.tu-sofia.bg/) and download some data from it, so I can use it later in my app. I have red different articles and tried different things but in the end nothing worked. The closest thing that I got as a result was receiving the source code of the login page( tried this Android: How to programatically login to website and retrieve data from it?)
Can someone tell my what I am doing wrong or give an advice how I should approach this ?

Deep Link to a Facebook Page

I am new to this Deep Linking stuff, so I would really appreciate your help.
I have a post on Facebook and i need it to point to a page.
BUT when I open the link on mobile, I need it to send me to the page i want people to like, but in the Facebook App on each phone (mainly iOS and Android).
I already tried fb://profile/[pageID] but it doesn't link to the specific page, just newsfeed, inside the app. Also tried fb://page/[pageID].
The good part is that it opens it in the Facebook app.
I feel that I am so close, but I don't really know what I'm doing wrong.
I would really appreciate your suggestions!
Thank you!
To deep link to a specific page, use fb://page/{page_id} for Android and fb://profile/{page_id} for iOS.
Tested on Facebook iOS v57.0 and Android v80.0.0.21.65.
Find your page ID using http://findmyfbid.com
if the page ID you used is a text format (fb://page/example) it will not work (i don't know why)
but if it is a long number it will work like for example fb://page/1111111111

slideshare in android app

I am new to Android and I am studying the possibility of including/embedding a slideshare slideshow (among other contents) into an Android app.
The idea would be receiving from the user the URL of the resource, such as:
And in certain section of the app display the slideshow mixed with other contents (text or whatever...)
I have been searching and the only option I saw (I insist I am really new to this...) would be making a webview for that activity... but... Is a webview fullscreen only? Can it be just part of an activty?
I hope I got to make myself understood... otherwise, let's try to clear it out and ask me whatever you may need to understand the question ;)
Thank you very much in advance,
Miguel
PS: I can accept other systems instead of slideshare, what i want is to embed an slideshow
Sounds like what you need is a WebView, just like you said. They can be non-fullscreen as well. Not sure how much this helps, but here's a tutorial on WebView's from the dev site:

displaying user info from website inside Android application

Hey I'm building an app that will allow a user to log into a site (mygranturismo.net) and then will display their personal info, (cars owned, trophies earned, level status, etc) in a layout on the screen. i need to be able to get this info and place certain bits right where i want, also some may be clickable links to other info inside the site. I don't want to simply link to the site, i want to access certain parts and display then in my custom app. an example would be the difference between twitter on Android vs twitter on a pc browser. Any help would be much appreciated.
It sounds like what you're describing is a native mobile application to work with an existing website that's not optimized for mobile. If you own the website, you can create private pages for simplified data retrieval. If it's a website that you don't own, you will need to read the raw HTML and extract the useful info from it. How you do it is up to you, but it will involve string searches and cut/paste of info from the HTML text. The danger in doing this is that if the website owner changes the layout of his pages it will probably break your application.
