i want to create screen in android like the image below(click on the hyperlink) but i am not getting the idea that how to create this screen just provide me solution for my problem.click to see image
I agree with sahhhm on the ListView. In addition, to display the cinema info you will need a custom list-item view which is going to contain an image view to display the left-hand image, four different text views to display the text and another image view for the right-hand image. You'll also have to accommodate the location in a view and the control bar at the top is possibly a custom control displayed in an activity which has the attribute android:theme="#android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar" in the android manifest file so that the title bar is not shown.
You will want to take a look at ListView. Here are a couple of basic tutorials (Android Developer Tutorial and Android People Tutorial) that will help get you started. Afterwards, you should be able to search for and find more specific examples of what you want.

I am trying to buid an user interface to allow to present information to a user.
The information would be grouped in windows related to the category that might look kind of like this:
Crude drawing of the window
It should have a place to put a title, a button I can set to different options and an inner layout to display the information.
Is there a similar object I can use in android or how would I go about building one?
EDIT:
The final result for a phone should be something like Drawing of a phone
EDIT2: Since i feel like I wasnt clear enough in my question I changed the title. I know how to place a list of elements on the screen, what I wonder is how to make those elements be framed by a rectangle with rounded corners that has a field for the title and a customizable button
Look at ReyclerView for displaying a list of items.
Look at CardView for displaying each "window" item.
Look at the documentation for how to make a layout.
Can you please tell me how to make this type of pop up? I do not need to design own component in drawable. I don't have much knowledge in Android.
1) First there is Title with blue background .
2) Second there is scrolling list view (without image) and buy button (without image).
Is it possible?
I Googled it to find out if we can make own button like that with some style?
Here is my image
You have to use a Dialog/Pop up in combination with a ListView you have to google that up because its a complex theme.
good look
Start from http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/dialogs.html. You have to implement your own custom dialog layout, likely using a ListView (http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/layout/listview.html).
Hi I am developing an application that needs to display list of items. Clicking (or Tapping) on an item should display a description text of the item right below the item. I am talking about something like a vertical accordion.
I want them dynamically created (created in code rather than the XML). That part was completed with ease. I inflated multiple SlidingDrawer in a LinearLayout to accomplish it.
But the problem is only one SlidingDrawer is displayed in the activity. This was accomplished by giving fixed heights to SlidingDrawer. This approach will not hold as I mentioned above that the list of items is dynamically generated and also the area in the activity where the description of the item must come remains blank.
I am now looking for alternative views for accomplishing this. As I am a beginner in Android Development I cant find any that will work in android versions 2.3 and later.
You can always take a look at the SlidingMenu. The project can be found on GitHub. I guess you need to modify the behaviour a bit.
I am trying to make a really easy xml layout and I can't seem to get it to look the way I want.
I attached a picture of what I want it to look like:
Basically, I have a static background image in my imagebutton at the top. Below that I have a picture the user snapped in the Photo Box. I assume I need an image view for that, but would it be possible for me to instead pass the pic to the background of an image button too so I can make the size easier to manage?
Based on what the user chooses in the options before this layout, an option photo is shown based on what they select. The photo would display to the right of the centered image, if that option is selected.
Below that would be a centered text view, with another separate one below that. Finally, I would have two buttons on top of each other at the very bottom.
Could someone show me a good way to get this layout and also tell me if it is possible to take a picture that is snapped and make it the background of an image button - or if that is a bad idea?
Thanks so much!
Seems like for the most part, you just want a simple LinearLayout. For the part with the photo, you could use an embedded LinearLayout or RelativeLayout.
As for the picture - you can easily set the background of any view or view group to any image (any view has an option to set the drawable for the background).
The only thing you should consider - for the purposes of making the UI more intuitive - is to slightly modify the image for the different states (focused, selected, etc), so that the user gets visual feedback when selecting the button via the trackpad, or when clicking on the button. A "drawable" has built-in support for multiple images for each state.
I am not sure what the proper term is, but I am trying to add a "TitleBar" to the top of one of the windows in my App. Much like the Contacts App, I have several Tabs along the top of the screen. When you select an item from the list, it loads the next Activity, but that Activity no longer has the Tabs at the top of the screen.
I don't know if it is called a TitleBar or what. The Contacts App has this TitleBar along the top of the screen when you select a person from the list of Contacts.
I am trying to mimick the Grey Bar that says "George Washington"
The Contacts app is open source (as are most of the core Android system apps). I suggest checking it out and looking at the layout you want to emulate. In general, poking around a lot of that code is a good idea to get a handle on some best practices, or just to borrow a few tricks.
In this particular case, they're using a custom View called ContactHeaderWidget, which is actually a FrameLayout wrapping a TextView and Checkbox (styled to look like a star), along with the photo view (which has some special behavior to bind with the multiple contact source data on click and so on).
If you just want the look and not the functionality, though, just adding a LinearLayout with a GradientDrawable background containing an ImageView, a TextView, and a Checkbox styled as a star to your activity's layout should get you there a lot more easily without requiring custom widgets.
