Problem installing Android USB driver on Galaxy SII - android

I want to install the Android USB driver for my Galaxy SII on a Windows 7 Enterprise x64 SP1 machine.
My phone is detected and listed in the device manager as "Other devices" and the status is "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)".
As I want to install the USB driver I choose "Update driver" and browse to the directory containing the driver, and here's the problem. Windows doesn't find anything, it just says
Windows was unable to install your
SAMSUNG_Android
Windows could not find driver software
for your device.
I can't remember ever having such problem with this... I have set the phone to "USB-troubleshooting" (or what the correct term is in English..) and the drivers previously installed for using it as a mass-storage-device are unistalled.
If anyone knows a solution to this problem and could forward it to me I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you!

Try to install the driver from Kies, maybe...

Sometimes the Kies reinstallation itself does not help (as happened in my case). I was not able to Update drivers via Device Manager either. Following procedure worked for me (WinXP Prof SP3 32-bit):
I disconnected the phone.
I uninstalled Kies and removed all drivers related to phone with use of USBDeview
I installed Kies
I loaded Kies
I selected “Tools > Troubleshoot connection error” to force drivers install and waited, operation took several minutes
I connected phone in MTP mode (USB Debug mode was off). Windows installed some drivers automatically.
I disconnected phone and reconnected it with USB Debug mode on. Windows installed more drivers automatically (including Samsung Android ADB Interface)
I restarted the computer.
It seems it is vital not to plug the phone in before Kies installation is finished.

I've tried both JohnyCash and Phils answers, but still didn't manage to fix the problem. After couple lost hours, here is how I fixed it:
Go to device manager, select GT I9100 from the list, right click > properties, select Update driver, then Browse my computer for software, then Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, select SAMSUNG Electronics Co., Ltd. > SAMSUNG Android ADB Interface, and install it.
adb was able to see the device after this, finally!

1) Enable USB debugging on your device.
2) Connect your device with a USB cable to your computer. Your Windows OS (vista or win7) will automatically install the required drivers.
3) You can check of the device is connected by executing adb devices from your windows command prompt. It should list the serial no. of your device.

Windows 7 for a Moto G and Samsung make sure USB debugging is disabled. Plug phone in USB. Windows will connect and install a driver to access phone.
Disconnect phone from USB. Enable USB debugging in developer options.
Connect USB again. No Windows installs ADB drivers. All shoulld work.

Enable usb debugging in developer options in phone.
Connect the phone to Computer.
Install the driver Samsung USB driver from the following site.
http://developer.samsung.com/technical-doc/view.do?v=T000000117
This will solve the issue.

This error may occur due to ADB driver is not installed on your machine.
Install pdanet+ software for ADB drivers and it will help definitely.

Eclipse Kepler does not allow debugging on Samsung Galaxy S4

I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 (Jelly Bean 4.3) as my debug target, and I've done the preliminary steps already:
Tapped 7 times on the "Build Number" under "My Device" to enable developer menu
Enabled USB Debugging from the device
Unchecked the "Verify apps via USB" to make sure my app is not blocked
Downloaded the OEM driver for Samsung from Samsung Andorid USB Driver for Windows
Installed the driver successfully.
When I connect my device via USB, Eclipse sees my device but does not allow me to debug on it.
Can someone help me?
If you're developing Android on Windows, then Windows may have allow you to "see" your device. But to connect to your Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505, you may need to install the Samsung USB drivers for mobile devices v1.5.33.0, which can be found here.
After installation, you may need to restart your computer. Once the computer has restarted, start a command prompt and navigate to \android-sdk\platform-tools. Then, type each command below in succession:
adb kill-server
adb start-server
adb devices
The last command will tell you whether you are truly connected to your device and the device is ready for debugging in Eclipse.

USB Debugging not working, adb ignores Nexus 7

For several weeks, I was able to connect my Nexus 7 2 to my computer running Windows 7, and Eclipse would recognize it, allowing me to run apps on it. The device also showed up when I ran the adb devices command. Every time I plugged the Nexus 7 into the computer, the tablet asked if I wanted to allow USB debugging at that time. (Oddly, it never asked me whether I wanted to always allow it from that computer, but I didn't care.)
I recently updated the tablet to Android 4.4.2. I also updated the Android SDKs through the Android SDK manager. Now, when I plug the tablet in, I do not get prompt about USB debugging on the tablet, and neither Eclipse nor adb can see that it is there.
Here is a list of things I tried to do, gathering ideas from various forums around the web.
Re-download the Asus drivers for the Nexus 7 and update the driver. However, Windows does not even recognize this as the right drivers for this device.
Turn USB Debugging off and on on the tablet, and also revoke all USB debugging permissions.
Change the connection mode from media device to camera
Switch the runtime from Dalvik to ART
Type adb kill-server followed by adb start-server in the command line
Delete eclipse and all the Android SDK and download them all over again
None of this worked. Any other ideas on what to try?
It turns out that the Nexus 7 definitely needs the Google USB Driver. Finding, downloading, and installing this driver worked perfectly.
Because Google's Android OEM drivers page does not include the Nexus 7 in its list of devices that need the Google USB driver, I had been trying the driver from Asus, which did not work. I did not try the Google USB driver because for some reason my SDK manager said it had downloaded the driver, but the driver was not to be found.
Finally I found I could download the Google USB driver from this page, which clarifies that all Google Nexus devices need this driver. Now I have successfully re-connected the tablet to ADB.
I submitted a documentation bug report to Google here in hopes that the OEM drivers page can be updated to reflect that all Google Nexus devices need the Google USB driver.
Nexus 7 tablet with Android 4.4.4. Settings > Storage > USB Computer Condition.
Two checkboxes: MTP and PTP. Uncheck both.
With your phone disconnected
In windows explorer - right click computer, go to manage, in computer management find and uinstall device driver (under Android device)
Download new drivers from http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html#top
Connect the phone, windows will try to install new drivers, install drivers manually with drivers downloaded as above
The above worked for me
For me, after updating to Android 4.4.2, it was critical that I connected the device as a Camera (PTP) rather than as a Media Device (MTP). Previously, before the update, I was able to connect as a Media Device (MTP).
The problem is that you have not all needed drivers (PC can recognise your phone like usb device but debugging would not work). I solved this problem in Android 4.4.4 by uncheking all items (MTP, PTP, UMS) from menu: storage->USB computer connections and than tick 'Media device(MTP). Now all works fine.
thank you Arthur, I found Nexus 7 tab not working even after unchecking or checking. Problem solved by unchecking USB Debugging (under developer options).. settings>Developer option> USB debugging. then check (put tick the MTP device):.storage->USB computer connections and than tick 'Media device(MTP)
Complete checklist:
Enable debugging onto the device
Select USB Connection as PTP (camera)
Install the driver from http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
Before you try anything, make sure you update your Build related tools using your Android SDK Manager. Your adb might be outdated.

Eclipse DDMS not recognising my Nexus phone

Eclipse DDMS Not recognising my Nexus (samsung)phone .I had install usb drivers externally as well as from device manager. also had conneceted device by usb cable in debug mode still it is not able to recognise in DDMS.please help what to do .Thanks In Advance.
I had a similar problem with another phone using Win7 x64. You should check first if all drivers are installed correctly.
Control Panel -> Device Management and check if there's something wrong.
If you use Win7 x64 try to reboot your system and start Window without using Driver signature.
Hope this help you
Install Usb drivers from this site
Samsung Galaxy Nexus usb Drivers
also it gives all samsung phone usb drivers.
1)Go to this site
2)Go to the manuals and downloads

Drivers got installed successfully and still device is not recognized by DDMS? Here is what worked for me. https://stackoverflow.com/a/32519507/1567675

Can't download android app from eclipse to my device

I'm trying to run an android app from eclipse on my device (moto droid2). I've followed all the instructions I can find to set up both the device and my computer (Win7) so that I can run the app on my device. I'm not getting the option to download to the device.
I found Installing the USB Driver, but there is no "Devices" section. There is a "Device Manager", but no "Android Phone" in the right pane. In the "Other devices" section there is a "Motorola ADB Interface". I went through "Update Driver Software". I selected "\extras\google\usb_driver" in the path, but it said it failed to update the driver.
On the phone, I turned on "Unknown Sources" in Application settings, and enabled USB Debugging.
I connected the phone to my computer with my usb cable. If I look in Windows Explorer, I can see the files from the phone.
In the Run Configuration, I set the Target Selection Mode to Manual. I ran the application, but it never gave me the option to install on the device.
I must be missing something.
Try changing your device to "charge only" mode, so your sd card isn't mounted as a drive to your machine.
adb kill-server
adb start-server
adb devices
If that still doesn't work, it could be:
a faulty cable
you may need to download manufacturer specific drivers for your device.
Those drivers at d.android.com are only for Google devices (Nexus 1, Nexus S, etc.) You will need to install the drivers for your device from the device mfg's website. Can't paste links yet but did you install drivers from Moto's web site?
Have you installed the usb driver for this device,
I had issues with a HTC Desire HD connecting to ADB but after installing the HTC drivers in windows 7 worked fine.

I hope this helps.
Some Moto phone has specific control customization for USB connection management, set it to Portal & Tools seems to help ADB recognize your phone.
A similar discussion posted at Android Developer mailing list here.
A step-by-step setup with screenshots can be found here
Hope that helps.
