Android Webview with child at bottom

I've been searching both Google and stackoverflow for a while now and haven't found anything answering my question.
I'm wondering about putting a LinearLayout (with no specific known height in pixels) at the bottom of a WebView. This LinearLayout will later be populated with a fragment containing comments for the article displayed in the WebView.
The issue of the problem is that the WebView is almost always larger than the screen so the user has to scroll to read the full article. At the bottom of the scrolling I want the CommentsFragment to be inserted (through the LinearLayout, it takes a few parameters so it can't be loaded directly from the XML).
I've tried a bunch of solutions but all of them make the LinearLayout stick to the bottom of the layout the all time, not on the bottom of the WebView.
My current code is the following, of course not working:

got it working after a few rounds. The solution was using a ScrollView then inside that a relativelayout mirroring #Karan_rana's answer.

If you want to put the comments fragment below web view then you can try as following and tell me if it works for you

Hi currently i am really struggling to get a nice layout for my android app.
Im planing on making a view with a header and a footer that surround a scrollview ive tried lots of situations but all the my bottom bar dissapears from my scrollview.

How to place both listview and textview in one page in android?

I am displaying a TextView and below that a ListView in one page. My code is:

Here I am displaying the ListView data dynamically....but in my emulator it is displaying a TextView at the top and then the ListView with scroll...It is not expanding the list and instead it is scrolling with the content which is generated dynamically...Please tell me how to expand the entire ListView....

so that you can't get the TextView.

I suggest you use "match_parent" instand of "fill_parent"
this WAS CHANGED in the SDK level 8...

OK, now you use the RelativeLayout install of the LinearLayout
So you should add the relationship with your views in your layout.
You can layout as this:

The RelativeLayout does not have the attr "orientation" and "layout_weight". So I don't suggest you to use this layout, It can't be fixed with the screen height in that way.

Further more, what do you want to layout your views?

This is a part of my work. List view will appear in the middle of your screen and what ever u need at the top, put it in place of header() and things that u need in bottom of the screen , put it in place of footer(). U can use relative layout instead of the linear layout

I don't know what is meaning of expanding meaning here, but listView in scroll view dont behave normally. To resolve this issue you need to implement list view outside of scrollview.

I don't quite understand what you mean, but if you want to have the textView scroll with the content of the listView, you need to add it as a header in your listView.
Moreover, it is not a good idea to put a listview in a scrollview, the listview being scrollable, it messes with the scrollview mechanism.

You can NEVER ever place a listview in the SCrollView.It wont behave properly.Instead of it try using LinearLayout TextView ListView < /Linearlayout>

creating a custom search in android (inserting a search widget in the layout)

How can I create a custom search within my android app layout?
I am able to use the search dialog that appears at the top of the activity window but I would like something similar to the image here:

Android - How to display an ImageView as a header in a listactivity?

I'm trying to display an image before the list in a listactivity.
If I put an ImageView before the ListView, then only the list is displayed... still quite an android n00b so any pointers appreciated :)
