shouldOverrideUrlLoading Will Load "file:///" But Not "http://" URL Parameters - android

Works:
mWebView.setWebViewClient(new WebViewClient() {
#Override
public boolean shouldOverrideUrlLoading(WebView view, String url) {
view.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/www/css-js/app.css");
return true;
}
});
Doesn't Work:
mWebView.setWebViewClient(new WebViewClient() {
#Override
public boolean shouldOverrideUrlLoading(WebView view, String url) {
view.loadUrl("http://yahoo.com");
return true;
}
});


The problem is just that an infinite loop is being created. It re-overrides the new loadUrl each time. For example, this works without problems:
public boolean shouldOverrideUrlLoading(WebView view, String url)
{
if(!url.toLowerCase().contains("yahoo.com"))
{
view.loadUrl("http://yahoo.com");
return true;
}
return false;
}
Note that simply saving the last override URL and comparing with if(!url.equals(lastOverrideUrl)) will not work in this case (and many others), as the URL is automatically changed from "http://yahoo.com" to "http://www.yahoo.com/".

You must return true if you want to override loading URI or false instead.

Android WebView Links Does not Open

How can I click on a link that is provided in the WebView data that I load?
The WebView data that is load is in HTML format as:

If you do not override the method at all, all the links will be opened in your WebView.
If you want to open just some links in your app, you should do something like this:

No. Just return false if you need load this url or return true if that url must be not loaded. But if you want do work with url and load it after you must add view.loadUrl(changed_url) before return true;

shouldOverrideUrlLoading(WebView view, String url) is the method of WebViewClient.
If you want to use your custom WebViewClient then you can add view.loadUrl(url).
Here is an example of custom WebViewClient :

Don't navigate to other pages in WebView,disable links and references

I have a webView in Android, and I open a html webpage in it. But it's full of links and images, and when I click one of them, it loads in my webview. I want to disable this behaviour, so if I click on a link, don't load it. I've tried this solution and edited a bit for myselft, but not worked.

Example: If the user open in my webview the StackOverflow homepage and clicks on one of the links(like "Questions") then the webview should stay on the StackOverflow homepage.

You should save in a class variable your current url and check if it's the same with the loaded one. When the user clicks on a link the shouldOverrideUrlLoading is called and check the website.
Something like this:

Even I had been facing the same issue. I solved this issue like below
webView.setOnTouchListener(new View.OnTouchListener() {

public boolean onTouch(View v, MotionEvent event) {

With lambda expressions
webView.setOnTouchListener((v, event) -> true);

Note that the method signature changed in API 24.
For APIs earlier than 24 the second parameter is String and that signature is now deprecated.
For APIs 24 and later, the second parameter is WebResourceRequest.
If your app supports both pre and post API 24 and you want to disable all links you can use this:
