I cannot get the Theme.Dialog activity to get smaller.
The problem is that i want half the hight only.

This will do what you want. Be aware that you'll get the full window height so dividing with 2 wont make it exactly half the size. I tried your layout dividing with 3 and it looks good.

Actually I only want the dialog to span over the full width of the screen, not the height. If I would use a additional PreferenceFragment (as the DialogPreference is already embedded in a PreferenceFragment ) the "Dialog" (aka Fragment) would take the complete width and height (i guess).
I already implemented a solution without a DialogPrefrence, that works but is not exactly elegant
using just a normal EditTextPreference

But as I have a lot of preferences which will display dialogs the code for the dialog creation and display bloads the SettingsFragment and makes it nearly unreadable. Therefore I thought it would be a nice solution to put the responsibility of displaying the dialog and handling the preference values to the Preference and the XML layout.
Unfortunately I got stuck with the "full width issue" mentioned above.
Note: fixed the code of getDialog as I tested different versions (also in combination with the xml theme set)
Finally I did find a solution for this problem:

Wait, you're not looking for the bog-standard 'Pref settings user options appear in a dialog' thing are you? That's almost definitely already done in AndroidStudio's add activity...> Settings Activity in boiler plate, check it out, or look for sample settings apps
Anyway, I do actually have a fullscreen dialog in my app, although it purposely doesn't fill the full screen, and I actually use an activity with some fragments now instead.
Personally I think this is what your problem is, I remember having this exact issue when I first needed a dialog like this. You should just use activities and have up navigation (if you want a full screen "popup" type thing you could use the Navigation pattern that makes the home/up button an 'X' instead of a '<');
Or anything else, you don't need to have a dialog explicitly, and if you do then extend activity or dialog and get what you want.

I have an OnClickListener that listens to Button A clicks. I also have 2 TextViews below the Button.
I want that on every click on Button A, the 2 TextViews will switch their places between them, like this:

This should work.
Toggling behavior can be achieved by this application. For example:
ViewGroup textHolder = (ViewGroup) findViewById(R.id.text_holder);
textHolder.getChildAt(0).bringToFront();
ViewGroup.getChildAt(0) always returns the first child of the ViewGroup. So everytime you call bringToFront on the first child will be bring to front.
All previous answers do not work because you use a relative layout where a linear layout will suffice.
If you have to go RelativeLayout, do the following in your click listener

my problem is this, using TextViewEx (https://github.com/bluejamesbond/TextJustify-Android) class texts to justify my android application works fine until the text over a carriage return appear \ n, when this happens the text is cut losing asin several lines of this, I need a solution to justify text without html injection, to change the font size if the application is open from mobile or from a tablet, if know what the problem is and can help me I thank you.

You can add buttons in cameraoverlay layout which is in layout folder and you can initialize buttons in initAR function which is in mainactivity.

I just used created by first Dialog using DialogFragment.
Everything works great except I can't get the Dialog to wrap it's layout.
My layout has the height of all elements to wrap_content.
In MyFragmentDialog I can't even find a method that would imply that it can be used to set the height of the FragmentDialog. What am I missing? How do I make a DialogFragment fit it's content?

It turns out to be an issue with LinearLayout despite setting a height on it, in DialogFragment it seems to be taking more space than I want it to. I switched layout to be a RelativeLayout the content Dialog seems to resize to fit the content.
You can make it work with all kind of layout in adding the size of the layout in the onResume of your dialogFragment :

I took a leap into the Dialog api so I am certainly not sure but you could try to call getWindow on the dialog and then call setLayout(width, height)

I don't see the top portion of your LinearLayout tag, but I've seen cases where all that was needed was the
android:orientation="vertical"
XML attribute. It can cause a headache but is fortunately easy to fix.
