Android Eclipse Program Error - android

I just created a new Android project in Eclipse IDE, clicked on finish, and before even running project can see error symbol on project folder in eclipse IDE. If I expand folders, I don't see any red cross mark on any of files, can you please help me out. If I run as android project it says "Your project contains error(s), please fix them before using your application" . I am puzzled, it was a fresh project. Tried deleting and creating another project , restarting eclipse. Nothing works. Can you please help me out. Thank you for reading my post.

Lots of times Eclipse will fail to build Android projects properly. This might be eclipse.. it might be Eclipse's Android plugin. I'm not really sure. The way I get around it is by selecting from the menu Project > Clean... > Select the project giving you problems and hit ok. This will clear all built files and force it to rebuild, often fixing the problem.

There is a problem with the project itself, like the classpath or something. Go to Window > Show View > Problems (you may have to choose Other..., if so you will find it in the General section). In the Problems view it should give you more info. If you still can't figure it out post what the text from the Problem view.

Adt eclipse phantom error

I was developing a simple app and eclipse says that i cannot run the app because there are errors. I try to find that error, but everything is perfect! Its a simple app(a counter)...
Please Help!

[I cannot post images because of my low reputation(this is my third question)]
EDIT:
There is nothing wrong and it does not report any bug. When i click "RUN" it just says "Your project contain error(s), Please fix them before running your application".
Let's try to make a full clean of your project.
Right click your project name. Android Tools > Fix Project Properties. If you have multiple Library Projects linked to this project, follow the same step with them first.
Hit the top menu Project > Clean. Select the radio button Clean all projects and hit OK.
You should leave Eclipse doing its job (depending on the amount of projects and files, it may take a while). If this doesn't work, follow the same process, but as a third step, close Eclipse and restart it right after you hit the OK button. Eclipse is powerful, but a silly IDE sometimes.
If the problem is there after restarting, and you have some libraries attached, check inside the Project build paths (right click the project name, Project Properties > Java Build Path) have the proper JARs, only once, and before any Android Library

Android development - The "R cannot be resolved into a variable" error -- tried everything, no luck

I'm trying to learn how to develop an Android App from scratch using Eclipse, but I keep running into the "R cannot be resolved into a variable" error. I tried everything from completely removing Eclipse and downloading it again, to deleting my project and workspace and starting over, but I just cannot get away from this error. The thing is, it's coming up without me even doing anything. I just start a new Android project and it opens with this error so I can't move forward in learning this stuff.
Any ideas on what I can do? Keep in mind I'm at the absolute beginning of learning how to work with Eclipse, so if you have a possible solution, I'd really appreciate a step-by-step answer.
Thank you!
EDIT: As it turns out, I didn't have any of the build-tools installed. I remember installing them but I have no idea what happened and they were just not listed as installed. After re-installing, I'm good to go. Thanks for the help everyone!
Right click on your project and clean it, if there are any errors it will prompt you or else the R.java file will be created in your gen folder and imported in your project.
If there is any problem with the xml file in android, then R.java won't be generated. Please make sure that you don't have any error in xml file, then clean the project by clicking clean button in "Project" option and click "Build Project", Build Automatically is not selected. This should solve your problem. Best of luck.
You have updated the android sdk but not updated the adt to match with it.
You can update the adt from here
You might need to update the software source for your adt update
Go to eclipse > help > Check for updates.
It should list the latest update of adt. If it is not working try this
go to eclipse > help > Install new software
Click on add
add this url : https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/
give it any name.
It will list the updates available- which should ideally be adt 20.xx
Eclipse will restart and hopefully everything should work fine for you.
Try to fix all error in your XML file. Look drawable, layout and other res folders closely for any error.
If it does not fix your problem then try

Android development with Eclipse clean and build

Hi can anybody help me with the Eclipse SDK. I have cleaned my Android project then suddenly all of my Java class is in red and I can't build it, all of the references like the
the R has a red mark in it and before I cleaned it, the R was in blue. It always does this when I clean the project and sometimes build it.
setContentView(R.layout.id);
I tried to delete the gen folder then clean it again with the auto build uncheck then build it again then clean it again.
I also tried closing the Eclipse SDK and then opening and cleaning it again but to no avail.
I tried everything with this one can anybody help me? and thanks! Also can anybody recommend a good SDK for making android projects because Eclipse really sucks and thanks again!
If everything was fine before the clean, then the errors may happen because the generated classes (R, that is) has not yet been generated but eclipse already started to validate your classes.
You probably need to refresh after a little bit, or, if you set eclipse to auto-build sources, just wait a bit longer. Repeated 'refresh' (F5) often help also in this case.
As for alternative IDE: You could try android studio or the intellij IDEA community edition.
Hey add this in your imports and check if it works...
import yourPackage.R;
Update :
1) Go to your sdk manager.
2) If there is a build tools update or install then please update or install it.
3) Restart the eclipse..
4) Enjoy.........
When you clean, you'll get errors on everything referencing R as it doesn't exist. It needs to be rebuilt by Eclipse (in the Project meun, there should be an option for "Build Automatically"). Just give it a couple of minutes after cleaning and it should resolve itself.
(You can follow the progress in the bottom right corner of Eclipse "Building workspace...")
delete the imported R file and try again..

Problems after updating to Android SDK 20 in Eclipse

I updated tools in my Eclipse first by going to Help->Check For Updates and installing everything i that it suggested. Then by going to Window->Android SDK Manager and updating multiple things including my SDK version.
After I have finished my update all my Android projects got a nice red box with an x inside it. I explored the projects and noticed that none of them had any errors inside the project just the project itself had the error icon. I searched online and i found that other people had similar problems. So i thought i found the solution. Alas after cleaning and building the project I got additional error icons next to multiple java files in my projects. Eclipse cannot locate the automatically generated R files when it tries to import them and all the imports are selected red.
I tried deleting the whole content of .android directory (starting with specific few files then the whole content) but that did not bring desired results.
So i have deleted the newly generated files and restored all the old ones.
When I clean and build the projects again all the errors disappear but only until I try to run the project again and then same error appears:
Your project contains error(s), please fix it before running it.
I have also found a related question. It claims that there must be a problem with my xml files. I did not modify any of my xml files since updating the tools so I dont know what could cause them to have errors.
Any ideas as to what is going on??
I've found that eclipse is now picking up errors that it didn't pick up before, because they updated lint, you may have to check all your files and see if there is an error because of this, if it doesn't work try removing Android from the build and reattach it, clean the project, build project, make sure the activities are using the right R files and check what lint says, its like a little square with a tick in it I think.
I had exactly the same problem, solved by removing any imports of R in my code and then cleaning the project
Strangest thing just happened. Even though I have done this 2 times before I have again deleted all my files in .android folder exited my Eclipse and opened it back up again. All the errors were gone and most of my projects work correctly. I have spend a lot of time on this problem and i dont know how it got resolved but Im glad its working again.

Android error message when I run a new project

When I create a new project and run it I get an error message popup that says
Your project contains error(s), please fix them before running your application.
There is no problem with the code since it is a fresh project. I am new to Android and am working on Eclipse.
I do not know how I can solve this. Any help will be appreciated. I also tried to clean the project then recompile it but the error still recurs.
If you go to the windows menu, select show view, problems, it should take you to the problems view (it's usually at the bottom). That should have any errors listed in it.
It's also worth checking to make sure you don't have any open source files from other projects and that all files for the project you're working on are saved, as sometimes this can confuse eclipse.
