ImageView will not show up - android

In OnCreate:
svMaster = (ScrollView) findViewById(R.id.scroller); //Only layout in XML file
svMaster.setVerticalFadingEdgeEnabled(false);
Display display = ((WindowManager)getSystemService(Context.WINDOW_SERVICE)).getDefaultDisplay();
height = display.getHeight();
...
initializeGUI();
svMaster.removeAllViews();
svMaster.addView(llMaster);
In initializeGUI():
llMaster = new LinearLayout(this); //Only direct child of scrollview
LinearLayout llFirstScreen = new LinearLayout(this); //First layout added to llMaster;
//It's size is that of one screen
LinearLayout.LayoutParams lpMaster = new LinearLayout.LayoutParams
(LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT);
LinearLayout.LayoutParams lpFirstScreen = new LinearLayout.LayoutParams
(LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, height);
llMaster.setLayoutParams(lpMaster);
llMaster.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL);
llFirstScreen.setLayoutParams(lpFirstScreen);
llFirstScreen.setBackgroundResource(R.color.blue2);
llFirstScreen.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL);
Here's my code pertaining to the ImageView:
ImageView ivWeather = new ImageView(this);
LinearLayout.LayoutParams ivWeatherParams = new LinearLayout.LayoutParams
(Scale(80), Scale(80);
ivWeather.setImageResource(R.drawable.sunny);
Log.d("ImageView loading?", "I hope so");
ivWeather.setScaleType(ScaleType.FIT_XY);
ivWeather.setLayoutParams(ivWeatherParams);
ivWeather.setVisibility(View.VISIBLE); //This is code I tried
ivWeather.setFocusable(true); //when it wouldn't show up
ivWeather.setFocusableInTouchMode(true); //...
ivWeather.invalidate(); //...
...
llFirstScreen.addView(ivWeather);
Log.d("ImageView loading?", "I hope so");
llMaster.addView(llFirstScreen);
...
I have added TextViews with no problem to llFirstScreen, and I am wondering why ImageView
won't show up. I tried even adjusting llFirstScreen's height to WRAP_CONTENT instead of the screen's height. All that did was shrink the layout to the two TextViews. It's as if it never added the ImageView. The Logs I put in check out, so I know the code is running.
Am I missing anything?

Have you tried changing your LinearLayout.LayoutParams from Scale(80), Scale(80) to something like LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT or something? I've never seen Scale(int) used. If that is a custom method can you post it?

Have an ImageView with a default height, change height when an image is put into it

So I am making an app that holds multiple user-chosen pictures. I have default ImageViews with pre-set heights of 300dp. I want this height to change to wrap_content once an image has been placed into the ImageView. The only way I know to do this is to remove the image from the layout and then re-add it with a new LayoutParams, but this messes up the order of the other views in my layout. Can I change the height without removing it?
Essentially:
LinearLayout mainLayout = (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.mainLayout);
final float scale = getResources().getDisplayMetrics().density;
LinearLayout.LayoutParams mTestImgParams = new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(
LinearLayout.LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT,
(int) Math.ceil(scale * 300)
);
final ImageView createdView = new ImageView(this);
mainLayout.addView(createdView, mTestImgParams);
//onLongClick listener, get picture, set the picture into the imageview, etc.
I somehow want to change the
(int) Math.ceil(scale*300)
to
LinearLayout.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT
without removing and re-adding the ImageView, and only after the image has been placed. Help please.
You could try to get the current layout params and change it.
LinearLayout.LayoutParams params = (LinearLayout.LayoutParams) createdView.getLayoutParams();
params.height = LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT;
createdView.setLayoutParams(params);

Programmatically LinearLayout Weight

I'm trying to develop similar to grid but using LinearLayout. I would like to have 3 images and exact bottom text after images in single row.
What I have tried:
LinearLayout layout = new LinearLayout(context);
layout.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL);
ImageView icon = new ImageView(context);
Item item = getItem(page, index);
Log.e("tag", item.getDrawable());
imageLoader.displayImage(item.getDrawable(), icon, R.drawable.ic_launcher);
icon.setPadding(15, 15, 15, 15);
layout.addView(icon);
TextView label = new TextView(context);
label.setTag("text");
label.setText(item.getName());
label.setTextColor(Color.BLACK);
label.setGravity(Gravity.TOP | Gravity.CENTER_HORIZONTAL);
label.setLayoutParams(new LayoutParams(LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT));
layout.setLayoutParams(new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT));
layout.setWeightSum(3f);
layout.addView(label);
I've a view method which returns Viewso I return return layout; at the end of the method.
Here I 've given weight 3 button this is not working for me. And code show more then 3 images in row with text but would like to have weight 3 images and bottom text .
LinearLayout.LayoutParams param = new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(
LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT,
LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, 1.0f);
or
LinearLayout.LayoutParams params = new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(
LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT);
params.weight = 1.0f;
Button button = new Button(this);
button.setLayoutParams(params);
I would define a TableLayout with as many TableRows as you need. On each of those TableRows, I'd add a LinearLayout with VERTICAL orientation consisting of the two Views you need: ImageView and TextView.
This is the LinearLayout where you should set a weight of 1 (to all of them). You will have to get the screen's width and see whether the new LinearLayout to be added still fits the current row. If not, simply start a new TableRow.
To get the width of the screen you can use this:
final Display display = getWindowManager().getDefaultDisplay();
final Point size = new Point();
display.getSize(size);
final WindowManager.LayoutParams params = getWindow().getAttributes();
The screen's width might be accessed via the params.width attribute, just compare it with your LinearLayout's .getWidth() method and keep an incremental account (a float) of the current TableRow's width to help you determine if the current item should be placed in an existing row or a new one.
Programmtically setting Linear Layout weight
LinearLayout.LayoutParams param = new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, 1.0f);

Adding images to one line in layout with ratio

I am doing an android app that have images which are located besides each other,
every image has its own width, I want to add these images in one line to fit the screen width,
with the same ratio for every one
I wrote code to add this images but still to know how to set the width programmatically
ImageView view = new ImageView(this);
view.setImageResource(R.drawable.a1);
ImageView view1 = new ImageView(this);
view1.setImageResource(R.drawable.a2);
ImageView view2 = new ImageView(this);
view2.setImageResource(R.drawable.a3);
LinearLayout my_root = (LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.root_layout);
LinearLayout child = new LinearLayout(this);
child.setOrientation(LinearLayout.HORIZONTAL);
child.addView(view);
child.addView(view1);
child.addView(view2);
my_root.addView(child);
only image 1 and 2 appear but the third didn't appear because the width of screen finished
Any help !!
Thank you :)
You must need to use weight parameter to do this.
Try below code:
ImageView view = new ImageView(this);
view.setImageResource(R.drawable.a1);
view.setLayoutParams(new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, 1f));
ImageView view1 = new ImageView(this);
view1.setImageResource(R.drawable.a2);
view1.setLayoutParams(new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, 1f));
ImageView view2 = new ImageView(this);
view2.setImageResource(R.drawable.a3);
view2.setLayoutParams(new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, 1f));
Use Layout Parameters to set height and Width of views at runtime.
like this
LinearLayout.LayoutParams layoutParams = new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(50, 50);
view .setLayoutParams(layoutParams);

Android. How to move the imageview(set position/margin) when it is created

I want to put some images in an area at the application start.
As the number of images is not a fixed amount, so I have to create images dynamically.
I want to set the position/margin of every images while they're created for good balance.
I have tried follows, but there is no efficacy.
・After Created, use imageview.layout().
・Use LayoutParams.margins().
・Use AsyncTask to set margins.
・activity.runOnUiThread().
This is the code:
// After access server, if needed then add a imageview to the 'c_box'
// c_box: the parent that imageview to add.
FrameLayout c_box = (FrameLayout) findViewById(R.id.c_box);
MarginLayoutParams mlp = new MarginLayoutParams(LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT);
ImageView img1 = new ImageView(this);
img1.setImageResource(R.drawable.c_file);
img1.setLayoutParams(params);
img1.setLongClickable(true);
img1.setId(img_id);
c_box.addView(img1);
img1.setOnTouchListener(listener);
**// it's possible to set the position by layout or margin?
img1.layout(100, 100, 200, 200);**
I don't know where to call the invalidate() method.
// After access server, if needed then add a imageview to the 'c_box'
// c_box: the parent that imageview to add.
FrameLayout c_box = (FrameLayout) findViewById(R.id.c_box);
MarginLayoutParams mlp = new MarginLayoutParams(LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT);
mlp.setMargins(100, 100, 200, 200);
ImageView img1 = new ImageView(this);
img1.setImageResource(R.drawable.c_file);
img1.setLayoutParams(mlp);
img1.setLongClickable(true);
img1.setId(img_id);
c_box.addView(img1);
img1.setOnTouchListener(listener);
Finally I found the point:
FrameLayout.LayoutParams params = new FrameLayout.LayoutParams(
LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT,
Gravity.NO_GRAVITY);
the 3rd param(Gravity.NO_GRAVITY) that I missed. use it you can position views at anywhere with setting width/height.
You could use MarginLayoutParams
MarginLayoutParams mlp = (MarginLayoutParams) yourImageViewHere.getLayoutParams();
mlp.setMargins(leftMargin, topMargin, rightMargin, bottomMargin);//all in pixels
yourImageViewHere.setLayoutParams(mlp);
To set your margins dynamically.

Setting relative layout parameters

So I'm trying to add an imageview to my current xml design - and its working decently. Now my main problem is that I cant seem to find a way to set the attributes for the image like where it needs to be displayed etc.
RelativeLayout mRelativeLayout = (RelativeLayout) findViewById(R.id.board);
ImageView i = new ImageView(this);
i.setImageResource(R.drawable.blue_1);
i.setAdjustViewBounds(true);
mRelativeLayout.addView(i);
setContentView(mRelativeLayout);
I tried messing around with setlayoutparams but got absolutely no clue what to do with it.
You actually have to use the class LayoutParams to do that efficiently and easily :
RelativeLayout mRelativeLayout = (RelativeLayout) findViewById(R.id.board);
ImageView i = new ImageView(this);
RelativeLayout.LayoutParams params = new RelativeLayout.LayoutParams(40, 40);
params.leftMargin = 25;
params.topMargin = 25;
i.setImageResource(R.drawable.icon);
i.setAdjustViewBounds(true);
mRelativeLayout.addView(i, params);
This works for me and put my icon in the top left corner of the screen with the specified margin to the sides of the screen.
Does that help?
