Remove Category bar in PreferenceScreen - android

How do you remove the category bar that displays in the PreferenceScreen? I have my own custom view for that, so I want to get rid of it altogether.

Would this help? Android – Hidding the status and title bar of your application

Customize Navigation Drawer Action Bar (App Compact) in android

I want to customize navigation drawer app compact action bar, I want to remove app icon from that and want to make its title center in action bar.
I have applied all solutions , but nothing is working with all the conditions.
Please give me some clue for applying it correctly
You should creat a customize action bar. Then, if you want you can add a button that can open and close your drawerlayout.
I have solved my problem. As mentioned, I have two problems, and I solved that in following way :
1) For making title centre, we need to make custom layout of action bar, and need to remove action bar title.
2) for remove app icon from action bar, we need to set android:icon property of that activity in manifest with transparent image or colour.

Two menus in android

I want to have two menus in my android app. First one is search icon in ActionBar (at the top) and second is a TextView and pop up item at the bottom. How to achieve it? I tried android:uiOptions="splitActionBarWhenNarrow" but it moves all the menu items to bottom. Please help!
Android has not made this possible on purpose, the action bar at the bottom (called the split action bar) only has the purpose of giving extra room for actions if it is necessary (hence the uiOptions name "splitActionBarWhenNarrow").
You could still get the desired result by manually creating a split action bar by adding a LinearLayout at the bottom of your View, and using a PopupMenu for the menu.

Using the Spinner as view-switching controller at Action Bar

I would like to use the Spinner as view-switching controller at Action Bar in my Android app, just like the native mail app (see part #2 at Android Common App UI).
So far I have managed putting the Spinner in the action bar and populating it with array of strings (see screen shot here) by looking at the example code at Android Developers.
My questions are:
How can I hide the activity name "MyAcitivity" from the action bar so the Spinner gets more place?
How can I make Spinner displaying two lines, one for the title and other for subtitle? Just like in the native mail app.
Why is the item text in the Spinner black and not white as the rest of the text in action bar?
I'm developing for Android version 4.0 and later.

Call setDisplayShowTitleEnabled(false) on the ActionBar for this activity.

Create layouts that have more than one line in them that you use with your SpinnerAdapter.
Why is the item text in the Spinner black and not white as the rest of the text in action bar?
Probably you need to use getThemedContext() on ActionBar to get the Context to use with your SpinnerAdapter constructor.
1.How can I hide the activity name "MyAcitivity" from the action bar so the Spinner gets more place?
in order to remove this title you should edit the activity tag in manifast to android:label=" "
do this in every activity you wish for
3.Why is the item text in the Spinner black and not white as the rest of the text in action bar?
you can create style for the text color like theme.holo.light and apply this theme to your activity
1) How can I hide the activity name "MyAcitivity" from the action bar so the Spinner gets more place?
If you are using a standard theme, you can just look for the "noTitleBar" version and add it
android:theme="#android:style/Theme.Light.NoTitleBar"
FYI: check this link, it contains more detailed info
2) How can I make Spinner displaying two lines, one for the title and other for subtitle? Just like in the native mail app
I really dont get what you wanna do. If u need a text above and one below a spinning icon, you can just create a linear layout (a vertical one) adding inside of it the 3 elements
3) Why is the item text in the Spinner black and not white as the rest of the text in action bar?
You can modify every element in your layout by editing the style you are using.
FYI: basic theme in android

Android Action Bar : App Icon & Title

Is it possible to use fragment tabs on action bar with the Theme.Holo.NoActionBar theme?
I mean... I already use this theme on my layouts but apparently it is overriden since the fragments have to show up in the action bar?
What I wanted to achieve is to actually get rid of the Title and App Icon over the fragment tabs. Something similar to the Google Music app.
Is this possible?

Try calling setDisplayShowHomeEnabled(false) and setDisplayShowTitleEnabled(false) on your ActionBar, and leave the theme alone.
You can style the action bar based on your needs. I'm quite certain you can also remove the app icon and title from there. Using a NoActionbar theme by default and then recreating the action bar on your own kinda defeats the purpose of the action bar. I suggest you use a theme with action bar and then style the bar according to your needs. This page has a decent implementation.

how to set android default title bar at Bottom with image on it?

how to set android default title bar at Bottom with image on it ?
I don't think it's possible, because I never saw something like this. But I would suggest to hide the default title bar and the make your own title bar which can be displayed at the bottom. That shouldn't be too difficult.
