android action bar customize icons - android

I want to create Action Bar like this
I saw in Dev guide that Action bar icon should be in specific size
is it possible ?
and also is it possible to add item in action bar with no clickable indication ?

i understand your concerns about the action bar icons' size, i had the same, until i discovered this http://android-ui-utils.googlecode.com/hg/asset-studio/dist/index.html
it's a tool which re-size icons for your whatever you want to add to your app, it also provides few ready cliparts that are ready for use, you just have to click download .zip and you'll get it.
Have fun developing your action bar.

//use your custom xml view to show your customize icons
View actionBarView = getLayoutInflater().inflate(R.layout.action_bar_custom_view, null);
actionBar.setCustomView(actionBarView);
actionBar.setDisplayOptions(ActionBar.DISPLAY_SHOW_CUSTOM);

Yes can do it. But it is good to stick to the icon sizes recommended. As working along with UI guidelines go a long way.
To make your left icon no-clickable, try setHomeButtonEnabled. Since this api is available only on ICS and above and in previous versions icon is enabled by default. So you might have an active icon which does nothing. (Well you can live with this limitation as there are not many 3.x devices)
Custom view is your view so its your wish to make it clickable or not. To add custom view,
mActionBar = getActionBar();
mActionBar.setDisplayShowTitleEnabled(false); // if you dont want title
mActionBar.setDisplayOptions(ActionBar.DISPLAY_SHOW_CUSTOM,
ActionBar.DISPLAY_SHOW_CUSTOM);
mActionBar.setCustomView(R.layout.action_bar_custom_view);

center align icons in titanium action bar for android

Is there any possible way to center align the action item icons that are shown in action bar of titanium app for android. I have searched a lot of places for this solution but had no luck. I want the action bar to look like the below image. Also tell me the way to not show app title in the action bar.
This is not a Titanium issue.
As you can read in Google's documentation, you won't be able to center anything in the ActionBar. Default (and expected) behaviour is to align action icons on the right (or left if reversed).
I don't recommend it, as it goes against Google's guidelines, but you will be able to center icons if you create a fake ActionBar:
- Remove native ActionBar from any window in your app
- Create a Titanium View that mimics the ActionBar
- Add icons and bind click events.
That's it, you are done.

Designing action Bar in android or make it alone

how to make the bar in the top of the picture (see the link) (drawerbutton,"mes cercles",picture_pen)? by customizing the action bar or i make it manually?

The ActionBar in that screenshot is custom-made. It is not built using Android's ActionBar controls. It appears that it was created using a RelativeLayout with a custom background, 1 button on each side and text in the middle of the layout. You can do this as well, however, it is considered best-practice to use Android's ActionBar, which can be themed partially. (Background, text color, buttons, logo, etc...)
Since Android's ActionBar is relatively new, you should use ActionBarSherlock, which adds compatibility to Android 2.x.

You can customize the actionbar in android to a very good extent , give it a solid / gradient background , customize the font face , add buttons , event give to different round corner values, also tabs are available , i suggest that method so you don't need plug-ins

Android - Action Bar Style

I want to show Action Bar like below.
I have already used this library clickhere
But it takes only two icons on Action Bar. If I add four items, then last two are shown me like menu. I want all in Action bar same as image above.
Is it possible? if yes, then HOW? Can I change Action Bar color or its default style available in Device?
Thanks in Advance.
I recommend you use this:
http://jgilfelt.github.com/android-actionbarstylegenerator/
to style your ActionBar.
If you want all the 4 icons to be there, just add this attribute to all the menu items:
android:showAsAction="always"
hello try this library
it sure help you And you may have to add you own logic to handle this in below 2.3 Android OS and above 3.0 Android OS.
there is many demo sample available like below :
There is no way you can be sure of the number of icons displayed in the action bar. There is a large varierty of Android devices out there and they all have different screen sizes. That's why you have to prioritize the actions available in a menu : the most important will be displayed as actions in the action bars and the others will be displayed in the "menu" : the action overflow.
You should think of actions in a functional way, not a graphical way.
With ref to Image that you attached you should decide which design pattern you want to use in your application, there are many UI patterns available for mobiles, tablets. The image you attached looks like Side Navigation UI pattern. It's better you decide which UI pattern perfect for your app.. then start implementing it with custom action bar libs (if you want action bar in less than Android 3.0 ver) or any other.

ActionBarSherlock wrong tabs position on android 2.2.2

I'm having serious problems getting tabs in actionbarsherlock below main action bar tabs to work in an app that runs from Android 2.2 up and looks like Android 4. (see link)
Tabs position
Have you tried running the official Demos app of ActionBar Sherlock? (https://github.com/downloads/JakeWharton/ActionBarSherlock/ActionBarSherlock-Sample-Demos-4.2.0.apk) It should contain a demo for the actionbar with Tabs.
If that works on Android 2.2 then you know the problem is in your code and you can check the Demos source code to see what you are doing differently (https://github.com/JakeWharton/ActionBarSherlock/tree/master/samples).
It's usual behavior of action bar (actionbarsherlock just simulate it). Use
ActionBar act = getSupportActionBar();
act.setStackedBackgroundDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.mytab_base_t));
to avoid white color in top bar (this option you can't access from any theme item yet). You can also monitor action bar height to change custom view of tabs on-fly, but you can't change action bar behavior, forget it. Otherwise please use PagerTitleStrip against action bar tabs.

How can I customize the app icon & label which appear in the action bar in android 3.0 honeycomb

When we develop applications on android 3.0 then by default the application's icon & the label appear on the action bar on Left hand side.
I want to display a different image on the action bar as well as I want a different customized text on it. How can I do it ?
//use your custom xml view here
View actionBarView = getLayoutInflater().inflate(R.layout.action_bar_custom_view, null);
actionBar.setCustomView(actionBarView);
actionBar.setDisplayOptions(ActionBar.DISPLAY_SHOW_CUSTOM);
If you want to change the action bar logo just add the following code in your manifest file
android:logo="#drawable/youriconimage"
Hope it will help you.
