Save Array Within Activity - android

I have an Activity which lets the user input names and the save them. Once the add Button is clicked the name gets added to the Array and also shown in a ListView with an option to remove a name.
My question is I am trying to get to the point where if the user leaves the Activity then comes back to the Activity the Array and ListView will have been saved so there is no need to input all the names again. At the moment once the Activity is left and then come back to the Array and ListView are empty.
As you can see at the bottom I have tried to use onSaveInstanceState and onRestoreInstanceState but can't get them to work can anyone expand on this code?

Have you try making your playerList as
static
it will solve your purpose

How to reload list view after delete all item?

I have a delete all button and everytime it delete all item in a listview, the listview won't road but stay the same, they will reload only when I create a new item or restart this activity. I have print a log on my code and it seems that the list view reload before the delete method called. my code is this:

The method deleteAll() deletes all the data in SQLite.
I wish to know how to reload listview after this method called, rather than reload before this method.
add the delete all method in your adapter. call the deleteAll method of your adapter whenever button was clicked. the deleteAll method would be like below:

and in your button click simply write this code:

I guess there is no need to initialize the customAdapter again in the button OnClick method. Also no need to setAdapter again.
Try to remove these lines in the onClick method.

Just add notifyDataSetChanged(); to your Adapter, inside a Listener. For example:

Listview not updating after arraylist is updated?

I've seen many other posts in this context, but none helped. Problem is when i click on the addField button, the listview inside dialog adds new view just once. But at other clicks it doesn't get updated though The adapter works correctly (I mean the getView is called and also the arrayList in the adapter is changed in size).
I've used notifyDataSetChanged() in the adapter class. No result! I used an instance of adpater class in activity and called myAdapter.notifyDataSetChanged(). No result!

I'm sorry i took everybody's time. The stupid problem was that my listview was inside a scrollview where it must not be! I hope this helps others who have the same issue!
Use the notifyDataSetChanged() every time the list is updated.
I had the same problem. I was facing with this problem when I wanted to update the listView after onDateChanged(). I resolved it with an extra ArrayList variable and an extra custom adapter in your case FieldAdapter variable.
Update your listView with a refresh adapter and array list variables after any operations. For example after button clicks.
1. Define a counter.
2. Check when the button is clicked, increase counter by one
3. Every time check the counter, if counter is greater than 1 it means the button is clicked more than once so update the list view with new variables (arrayList, FeildAdapter)
I recommend you to define the variables as a private class fields and name them such as refreshedArrayList and refreshedAdapter
Option
Try to use the ArrayAdapter. And don't create a new adapter every
time you click on the button.
only call the add(T o) function from the ArrayAdapter.
Other Option:
add a add function to your FieldAdapter in the add field adapter add the object to your arraylist and call notifiyDataSetChanged(the adapter has aslo one and the adapter notifies all his observers)
also don't create a new adapter every time you click the button.

Wrong ListView item is passed by the intent

I am using BackendLess backend service, but my prob is (i guess) more to android/java. So even if u are not familiar with BackendLess, i guess u can help, if u know of course :)
I have there a Fragment that calls and opens a DialogFragment with a ListView.
Using there an iterator to retrieve the data. It brings each column from the data table as an Array.
I set an onClickedItemListener that when item is clicked, it send the value to a TextView in the Fragment it was called from.
The data comes in the wrong order - didnt get how to do a sortBy, that connects to the bigger prob i have there -
There is a column there named "PropertyTypes". It holds 4 strings, which are coming out in the opposite order that i need. I want the "A" first, and get:
"D"
"C"
"B"
"A"
ok, so far no big deal, i guess can be sorted out with a sortBy that i just dont know how to do.
But... what happens is that it sends the wrong value to the TextView, meaning, for example, when i press "C" it set "A" on the TextView and so on, and, when i press the last one, in this case "A", the app is crashing...
What the hell is going on there?? :))

if with this you want to access a Context, you can use getActivity(). Fragment is not a Context
In setOnItemClickListener(this);, this refers to the current instance. With that line you are implying that this is also implementing the OnItemClickListener interface. Which is not true. You need yo add implement OnItemClickListener to your Fragment class.
getListAdapter():
instead of getListAdapter() you can use the ListView to retrieve the item at position, since you are already keeping a reference as member. Change

with

why do you need this line startActivity(getIntent());?

Moving Activity to another Activity when class extends ArrayAdapter

When I click the edit_remainder button I want to move my Activity to another Activity.
But where the class extends ArrayAdapter I don't understand how to move to another Activity.

If I understand correctly, you wish to transfer control to another activity when the user taps on a list item. You will need to issue an intent.

Are you create your own adapter(mylist)?
If yes then pass the intent in your main class from you call the mylist adapter.
