I followed the hello world for the map view and all I get is a blank grid that I can zoom around in:
http://developer.android.com/guide/tutorials/views/hello-mapview.html
here is my android manifest
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
package="us.fubz.helloMap"
android:versionCode="1"
android:versionName="1.0" >
<uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="7" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/>
<application
android:icon="#drawable/ic_launcher"
android:label="#string/app_name">
<uses-library android:name="com.google.android.maps"/>
<activity
android:name=".helloMap"
android:label="#string/app_name" >
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
</intent-filter>
</activity>
</application>
</manifest>
I generated the Api-key from my C:\Users\fubz.android\debug.keystore
I am testing it on my original droid using eclipse.
I have no idea what I am doing wrong. I double checked my code with multiple sources and I still don't understand. I think the api key is wrong but know way to prove it or know how to get a new one.

I am getting error in android:icon="#drawable/ic_launcher"
what to do ??
I am new to android development.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
package="com.example.ledonoff"
android:versionCode="1"
android:versionName="1.0" >
<uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="15" />
<application
android:icon="#drawable/ic_launcher"
android:label="#string/app_name" >
<activity
android:name=".Led_bluetooth"
android:label="#string/app_name" >
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
</intent-filter>
</activity>
</application>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.BLUETOOTH" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.BLUETOOTH_ADMIN" />
</manifest>
I have seen various answers online, but not helped anyone.
Change it to:
android:icon="#mipmap/ic_launcher"
mipmap vs drawable folders
Change it as
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
package="com.example.ledonoff"
android:versionCode="1"
android:versionName="1.0" >
<uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="15" />
<application
android:icon="#mipmap/ic_launcher"
android:label="#string/app_name" >
<activity
android:name=".Led_bluetooth"
android:label="#string/app_name" >
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
</intent-filter>
</activity>
</application>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.BLUETOOTH" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.BLUETOOTH_ADMIN" />
</manifest>
Replacing Drwable with mipmap will solve your issue
<Application
...
android:icon="#drawable/ic_launcher" >
<!-- change ic_launcher to whatever your png is named --
you need to do a clean (eclipse -> project -> clean), but you'll know it was successful if a line like this appears in your /gen/R.java file:
public static final int ic_launcher = 0x...;
If it isn't, you can delete the R.java file and the ADT will immediately panic and rebuild it from scratch, incorporating your new drawables.
you have a issue with your drawable,some cases are:
1) image is not existing in drawable.
2) image name is not according to image naming conventions in android.
3) you can check if any issue with images by restarting your eclipse/studio then in console it shows the image having problem..
There is an Activity with data pulled from the remote API. The Manifest file looks like this
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
package="com.myapp.glass"
android:versionCode="1"
android:versionName="1.0">
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" />
<uses-permission android:name="com.google.android.glass.permission.DEVELOPMENT" />
<uses-sdk
android:minSdkVersion="15"
android:targetSdkVersion="15" />
<application
android:allowBackup="true"
android:icon="#drawable/ic_launcher"
android:label="#string/app_name"
android:theme="#style/AppTheme">
<activity
android:name=".MainActivity"
android:enabled="true"
android:label="#string/title_activity_main">
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="com.google.android.glass.action.VOICE_TRIGGER" />
</intent-filter>
<meta-data
android:name="com.google.android.glass.VoiceTrigger"
android:resource="#xml/voice_trigger_start" />
</activity>
</application>
</manifest>
The filevoice_trigger_start works and the command from it is properly detected.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<trigger command="LISTEN_TO" />
The app does not crash, it works Ok, but it does not appear in the Glass Launcher. Look at the images.
All other apps I instal via the Market are here.
Why?
PS. I install my demo app via the console. It's not live app.
LISTEN_TO is one of the existing commands. The expected behavior is you'll see "listen to" menu and when you tap, you'll see your app under that menu.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<trigger command="LISTEN_TO" />
If you want a custom command, try keyword.
voice_trigger_start.xml
<trigger keyword="#string/your_custom_command" />
Edit
Based on your comments, try adding this in your activity tag in your manifest.
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
</intent-filter>
You might need to reboot your Glass.
I'm trying to configure my app to program Chromecast featured button.
I'm reading all chromecast SDK and it says that i have to install Google Play Services.
I linked the library to my project, at the same workspace. I did it well because I have a new Android Dependencies library called google_play_services.jar
When I reach this point, I want to test if googlePlayServices are available, so I want to use:
GooglePlayServicesUtil.isGooglePlayServicesAvailable(getApplicationContext());
and print a Log with the result.
But the problem appeared here. When I run my app, it says that is not in my Android Manifest.
My Android Manifest has these lines already:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
package="com.example.chromecastAPP"
android:versionCode="1"
android:versionName="1.0" >
<uses-sdk
android:minSdkVersion="9"
android:targetSdkVersion="18" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/>
<meta-data
android:name="com.google.android.gms.version"
android:value="#integer/google_play_services_version" />
<application
android:allowBackup="true"
android:icon="#drawable/ic_launcher"
android:label="#string/app_name"
android:theme="#style/AppTheme" >
<activity
android:name="com.example.chromecastAPP.MainActivity"
android:label="#string/app_name" >
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
</intent-filter>
</activity>
</application>
</manifest>
Any different solution?
Thank you
Meta-data must be in application tags.
"Edit your application's AndroidManifest.xml file, and add the following declaration within the <application> element. This embeds the version of Google Play services that the app was compiled with." Look this link.
Try this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
package="com.example.chromecastAPP"
android:versionCode="1"
android:versionName="1.0" >
<uses-sdk
android:minSdkVersion="9"
android:targetSdkVersion="18" />
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/>
<application
android:allowBackup="true"
android:icon="#drawable/ic_launcher"
android:label="#string/app_name"
android:theme="#style/AppTheme" >
<activity
android:name="com.example.chromecastAPP.MainActivity"
android:label="#string/app_name" >
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
</intent-filter>
</activity>
<meta-data
android:name="com.google.android.gms.version"
android:value="#integer/google_play_services_version" />
</application>
</manifest>
I also Faced this problem. I just updated my SDK Google Play Service with its update Version and it worked for me...
Try it may be it works for you also..
I have just started Android Development, and I am trying to implement "Google Maps for Android API v2" in my app. I pretty much just want the map to show the device's location. So far, I can get the lat + long position, country, and city. Now, I just want to show that on a map. I am working in eclipse
So, I ran into an issue where I get a weird error that says
Error Parsing XML: Mismatched tag
I have been troubleshooting my code for the past 2 hours, and cannot find out how the tag could possibly be mismatched (it is the closing </application> tag)
Here is my complete code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
package="com.dd.splash"
android:versionCode="1"
android:versionName="1.0" >
<uses-sdk
android:minSdkVersion="18"
android:targetSdkVersion="18" />
<uses-feature
android:glEsVersion="0x00020000"
android:required="true"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE"/>
<uses-permission android:name="com.google.android.providers.gsf.permission.READ_GSERVICES"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION"/>
<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION"/>
<application
android:allowBackup="true"
android:icon="#drawable/ic_launcher"
android:label="#string/app_name"
android:theme="#style/AppTheme" >
<activity
android:name="com.dd.splash.MainActivity"
android:label="#string/app_name" >
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
</intent-filter>
</activity>
<activity
android:name=".myMainScreen"
android:label="#string/app_name" >
<intent-filter>
<action android:name="com.tutorial.CLEARSCREEN" />
<category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" />
</intent-filter>
</activity>
<activity android:name=".myMainScreen" android:label="#string/app_name"
android:theme="#android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar"></activity>
<meta-data
android:name="com.google.android.maps.v2.API_KEY"
android:value="KEY" />
</application>
</manifest>
Any help, or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thank you :)
I just found out how to fix this. You can automatically clean up all formatting and errors within eclipse, by going to Project > Clean... It's as simple as that :)
I have uploaded the android app in the android app store. The app is not visible from the mobile app store but from my browser it is visible.
The devices I have tried:
GT-S5360 (Samsung) gingerbread
A60 (Micromax) gingerbread
The AndroidManifest.xml code is
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"

android:versionName="1.0">

<application android:icon="#drawable/sitelogo"
android:label="#string/app_name">

<intent-filter>
<action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" />
<category
android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" />
</intent-filter>
</activity>
<activity android:name=".SecondActivity"

Please let me know what I am doing wrong here.
I'm not sure if this could cause a problem, but your uses-sdk is defined twice (with a different minSdkVersion). Try removing the second one.
