My spinner isn't visible while using an imageview - android

I have a TabView in android. The first tab has an Image and a Spinner. The Spinner is a simple list that shows up in the first tab if there is no image, but disappears when the Image is there.
Update:
I've figured out that the imageView is 'pushing' the spinner out of the frame. I just needed to make my image a "background view"
Thanks for the help

keep the spinner inside a Layout (ex. FrameLayout) and set the image as background for that Layout.

It seems that you are using
LinearLayout
as base Layout which hosts ImageView and Spinner.
the default orientation of LinearLayout is horizontal..
change it to vertical just by adding
android:orientation="vertical"
to <LinearLayout > tag

ListView. Hot to highlight whole listview item when touching on it

There is ListView with items which contains TextView.
When you are touching listview item and hold the finger on it, listview item is highlighted a little.
But if textview contains just a few letters - not all row is highlighted.
Is any simple solution (some xml property, etc) to highlight whole row?
Hi Set This Code In Your Xml Of ListView
=================================
<ListView android:id="#+id/list1"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"/>
you try to make listview width android:layout_width="fill_parent" .And also if u are using custom adapter for (images and text) -make layout width size-fill parent or match parent
Set android:layout_width attribute of parent Layout tag to fill_Parent for in xml for Listview.

how to make the change the background when ListView is Scroll up

i am trying to implement ListView. Problem is that when i am showing items of list less that the scree size the remaining is showing black. I want to set any image so that when items are less than screen size then background should be a picture
put your <ListView /> inside <LinearLayout/> ,
add background to Linear layout, with LL Height as match_parent and hieght of Listview as wrap_content
I have not done this myself, but this is what I think should work.
Place the image in /res/drawable
Then add these lines to activity in manifest or to parent layout of ListView
android:scaleType="fitCenter"
android:background="#drawable/image_name"
Let me know how that goes.

Android: ListView xml layout not showing background image when scrolled

I have an Activity with a ListView, I set the background image to the view programatically.
When I scroll down my list, the background image turns to white ( because my theme is Theme.Light.NoTitleBar).
How can I make it scroll with the blue background intact?
If the above point works, how can I change the text color of ListView to white instead of black?
Normal ListView
Scrolling ListView
Pressing ListView item
Use the attribute android:cacheColorHint="#000000" in ListView Tag
Regarding make TextView's color black or white, you can refer here to make a custom TextView for your ListView row, The extra work you have to do is just add another attribut inside TextView tag like this
android:textColor="#FFF" //or #FFFFFF for white
add a attribute on the ListView Tag
android:cacheColorHint="#00000000"// setting as a transparent color
This is due because of an optimization. To remove this, just set the cacheColorHint of your listView to transparent, like this: android:cacheColorHint="#00000000"

You can Wrap that ListView inside on LinearLayout having same background and then remove ListView's Background that should work fine. :)
Please check this answer. I have got the same issue and it is fixed by putting view = null in adapter side.

backgrounds in listview

i have a listview with a bunch of items in it, each item has its own background, the problem is that if i only have one item in a list, the rest of the "empty" slots of the list is black. I tried applying a background around the listview and also on the view that sorrounds it (relativeView) and i get a strange margin around the whole list like the picture at the bottom. The question i have is, how can i remove the actual "borders" around the list so it still fills upp its parent ? .
Remove any padding you may have used in your XML layout file.
Try putting in the following code in the listview's layout:
android:cacheColorHint="#00000000"
Change your listview height like this android:layout_height="fill_parent"
use android:fadingEdge="none" in listview in layout

Displaying popup images on button click

My query is, How can I display the messages corresponding to the rounded buttons and the table row , when I click on the rounded button with question mark.
I know, I have to use listener for the ? button , but what should I do in listener exactly, such that when I click, it shows those alerts(images) and when I click again, it disappears.
For this UI, I have used Relative layout as was suggested here -- Aligning components at desired positions -- and it worked perfect for me.
So, do I need to change my base layout altogether for accomplishing this?
You can use a FrameLayout as the base for your ui layout and then add an ImageView overlay. For example:
<FrameLayout
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:id="#+id/MainFrame"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent">
<!-- Put your normal layout stuff here -->
</FrameLayout>
Then in your code you can create the ImageView and add it to the MainFrame and it will overlay your UI, like this:
FrameLayout mainFrame = (FrameLayout)findViewById(R.id.MainFrame);
ImageView overlay = new ImageView(this);
overlay.setImageBitmap(BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.overlay));
mainFrame.addView(overlay);
Then later you can call:
mainFrame.removeView(overlay);
to have it go away.
