I have a small app that periodically needs a table row added to the tablelayout. Per the getChildCount() method the row is being added but it doesn't display. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

i've tried tbl.RequestLayout() and tbl.Invalidate() but no help. The table is wrapped in a scrollview which is my best guess as to where the problem is. I've been tinkering with this for several hours so a nudge in the right direction sure would be helpful

Have you run the code for adding a row in your TableLayout? I've simulated adding a row on a click of a Button and I get a awkward Divide by 0 exception.
Anyway, change the LayoutParams of the enclosing Linearlayout to TableRow.LayoutParams(its parent is the TableRow):
TableRow.LayoutParams lp = new TableRow.LayoutParams(
TableRow.LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT,
TableRow.LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, 1.0f);
ll.setId(1589);
ll.setLayoutParams(lp)
Also, if this doesn't solve the problem, try to add:
android:fillViewport="true"
to the ScrollView tag in the xml layout.

The scrollview width is Wrap Content...try with Match Parent
I would like to know if there is a way to modify the width of two columns in a table layout (with three columns in total).
The problem is that every column has the same width and a lot of space is wasted because the first two only contain an id and a date meanwhile the last one contains a multiline description.

You can set width property to 0 for TableRow children, but specify layout_weight for them. So you'd write:
float[] weights = new float[] { 0.2f, 0.2f, 0.6f};

lblSystemStoricalId.setLayoutParams(new TableRow.LayoutParams(0, ViewGroup.LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, weights[0]))
Where 0 is no width for view (because you're using weights), and weights array contains weights for your three views.
These weights should sum up to 1, and each weight is percent of the width that the column should take. So you need to assign weights to your TableRow children - lblSystemStoricalId would get weights[0], lblSystemStoricalData would get weights[1] and lblSystemStoricalDescription would have weights[2].

The problem is in your TextView Layout Params. The type should be TableRow.LayoutParams not LinearLayout.LayoutParams.

Take Table layout and try using this in your main.xml ...

For a RelativeLayout, you need to specify the relative positions of your elements, using the LayoutParams:

Add a rule to your LayoutParams which will set one textview below the other..

Or you can use this method to add them to any position you want. For example, you can first add myEditText and then add myTextView above myEditText:

LayoutParams are used by views to tell their parents how they want to be laid out.
There are around 13 different types of LayoutParams defined in Android. eg. LinearLayout.Layoutparams, ViewGroup.LayoutParams, ActionBar.LayoutParams etc.
So if one is adding TextView to LinearLayout, it means LinearLayout is the parent of TextView, so while defining layout parameteres for textView one should use
LinearLayout.LayoutParams and not ViewGroup.LayoutParams
in your case you are adding two textviews to table row, so but obvious you should use TableRow.LayoutParams
so replace this line
tv2.setLayoutParams(new TableLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, 1f));
with
tv2.setLayoutParams(new TableRow.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.FILL_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT, 1f));
Write similarly for tv
