Save image to sdcard from imageview - android

I have listview having customized some textview and one imageview. When I long click on item I have store that item information to the database but the question is how to store image in sdcard and store the relevant path to the database. The image alread download as cache now I don't want to re-download that image.
Is there way to store that Image to the sdcard.

I got solution
no need to extra process when using this example. Just store the web path of image into the database and pass that imageview into the ImageLoader object with path it'll use the cache images if the image was exist for same URL

No Need to extra process, Using this example it'll will care for future usage also for same URL of image. This will get from the cache directory if the image found that use that image otherwise download it and then use it.

If you use Prime the caching will be transparent, when you request the image again it will grab it from a memory cache if available or a disk cache automatically. It also is really easy to get images with.

You can save your bitmap which you get via Bitmap bitmap=memoryCache.get(url); using save-file-to-sd-card.
You can also get the bitmap from the ImageView(if you want) like:
//say your ImageView object is i;
i = (ImageView) findViewById(R.id.img);
Drawable d = i.getBackground();
Bitmap bitmap = ((BitmapDrawable)d).getBitmap();

How to reuse cached image in Glide?

Is it possible to keep a reference to the loaded image into cache (on disk) and reuse it later in Glide 4?
Let's say I want to load an image like this:
Future<Bitmap> future = Glide.with(context).asBitmap().load(resourceId).submit(300, 200);
I want to save new processed bitmap to disk. Should I use diskCacheStrategy(DiskCacheStrategy.AUTOMATIC)?
Then in the next activity I want to reuse this new bitmap from disk cache.
How can I do it? Should I use signature as a reference to access this bitmap?

How to refresh the content of an ImageView

I have a screen with an ImageView containing the actual profile picture. I can edit that profile picture either by taking a picture with the camera or by picking a picture from the sd card. I store the new chosen profile picture under the same path as the old (i overwrite it) which is logical i guess.
However when i set a new profile picture to my ImageView it does not get refreshed. I have to restart the App to see the change.
this.imageView.invalidate();
is what all people are telling me to do when i brows google but no, this is not working! So how can i force my imageview to load the new profile picture?
I load the image into the ImageView with help of Picasso:

requestCreator.into(imageView);
Picasso caches loaded images to speed up the loading process. This means that if you are trying to reload the same exact picture it loads the cached version and it does not read the changed File from the disk.
You need to tell Picasso that the picture has changed and that it needs to reload the picture from the disk by invalidating the cache. The way you do this is like this:
File file = new File(fileName);
Picasso picasso = Picasso.with(context);
picasso.invalidate(file);
picasso.load(file).into(imageView);
To skip Picasso's cache, you can use .memoryPolicy(MemoryPolicy.NO_CACHE) static method:
Picasso
.with(context)
.load(file)
.memoryPolicy(MemoryPolicy.NO_CACHE)
.into(imageView);

How to get the images from cache when the app is offline by using image loader concept?

I am using universal image loader concept for load the images from remote server and updating to imageview.First time my application having internet connection and saving all the images on application cache("//data//cache/") memory and updating to imageview.Once the images are available in cache I would like to get the images from cache in offline not from remote server.
To get the images i have implemented following universal lazy loading concept:
imageLoader.displayImage(url,imageView, options, animateListener);
I would like to get the same image in offline from cache.
Please give me better solution for get the images in offline loading.

Image Adapter load method - use Bitmap Array?

For the below - I don not have the URL of the image! I cannot use the URL.
If I am downloading images from the internet into a Bitmap array like this:
Bitmap image = BitmapFactory.decodeStream(file.getReadStream());
//add to the Bitmap Array
images.add(image);
Can this be sent to Picasso (or any other Image loader like UIL?)
I know I can display the images in my Adapter but I am getting out of memory issues. And I thought Picasso could take care of this and the caching etc.
This will not work as it will not accept a Bitmap source. Is there any other library to do this?

Given a full path of an image file, how to get its thumbnail?

It seems the answers I searched online (including stackoverflow.com) get the image file id through gallery selection.
I have created my own file explorer.
Then how to do that?
I can create my own small size image; but I think it would be faster if we can make use of an exisiting thumbnail; and if it does not exist, I would prefer to create a thumbnail that is saved for later use.

OK, thanks for advice. So I will not create a thumbnail in the device, to avoid to use too much space.
Then is is better to do two steps:
Step 1: look for an exisiting thumbnail for the image file if it exists.
Step 2: if no thumbnail exists, then create my own small size bitmap (not save the it).
Then how to do Step 1, if I do not use the Gallery intent?

I also want to get the thumbnail of a video file.
I can use MediaMetadataRetriever to get a frame at any point of time, and rescale the image to a thumbnail. But I find it is very slow: I have 4 video files in the folder, and I can sense the delay.
So I think the better way to retrieve an existing thumbnail.

You shouldn't be using specific files for tumbnail, especially not creating tumbnails. What if the user has a lot of images and you store a tumbnail of each picture which gets viewed in your explorer. That would generated a whole lot of duplicated and unwanted data. The calculations from resizing the images each time overweighs the amount of data that would need to be stored.
I would suggest you have a default icon on images in the explorer and then resizing the images in a diffrent thread, replacing your default tumbnail as they are resized.
You could downsize the existing images on the fly:
BitmapFactory.Options opts = new BitmapFactory.Options();
opts.inJustDecodeBounds = true;
BitmapFactory.decodeFile(image_path, opts);
int width = opts.outWidth;
int height = opts.outHeight;
then
opts.inPreferredConfig = Bitmap.Config.ARGB_8888;

opts.inSampleSize = (int)Math.pow(2.0,Math.floor(Math.log(scale_factor)/Math.log(2)));//for example double scale_factor=(double)width/desired_dimension;
and finally:
Bitmap bm = BitmapFactory.decodeFile(image_path,opts);
You could load in a separate thread ranges of existing files and update only those ones when needed.
You can use ThumbnailUtils. Look up the this utility method. Probably fits your need without much hassles. Creating duplicate downsized images is a bad design as that it will end up unnecessary data.
Bitmap resizedImage = ThumbnailUtils.extractThumbnail(rescaledImage, imagePixel, imagePixel);
