I'm using MyEclipse 10 on Mac OSX 10.6.8. I installed the Android SDK and the Android ADT plugin. I also made sure to install the SDK tools, the latest version of the platform, and I added the path to the tools directory to my $PATH. When I try creating a new Android Project in Eclipse I get this message: "Your tools installation appears to be out of date (or not yet installed). This wizard depends on templates distributed with the Android SDK Tools.". What could I be missing?
Here's what was missing:
I didn't configure the ADT plugin within eclipse:

I am trying to start Android Development and trying to do so using the ADT plugin in my Eclipse Mars(Windows 10)
I have installed the ADT plugin in my eclipse version 23.0.7.2120684.
Also I have downloaded the SDK tools(tools_r25.2.3-windows) and extracted it to D:/eclipse\SDK.
But everytime I open Eclipse and click on Windows->Preferences ->and enter the SDK Location as D:/eclipse\SDK which is the SDK folder I am getting the below error:
The Android SDK requires the new Build Tools component to be installed.
Please open the SDK Manager and install "Android SDK Build-tools"
I click on Open SDK Manager and nothing happens, but I get an error message in the console:
[2017-04-10 22:56:35 - SDK Manager] [SDK Manager] Error: Expected verb after global parameters but found 'sdk' instead.
Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong here. Most of the installation guides/steps found on the net are a bit redundant since they are quite old.
As of Android SDK Tools Revision 25.3.0 removes obsolete/deprecated tools, see Release Notes, and as ADT plugin is no longer supported it cannot work with it.
However revision 25.2.3 should be working. If you still want to use Eclipse try to look at Eclipse Neon for Android Developers.
Eclipse no longer supports Android Application Development. Announcement here.
You might install Android Studio or Intellij Idea to create android apps using java.
I downloaded Eclipse Luna, started it then went to install new software
https://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/4.4
Downloaded all of the plugins, but nothing for Androids SDK appeared.
When I start Eclipse it says I need to update my Android SDK location preferences.
Could I get some assistance as to where to find it in my eclipse directory, or where to download the ADT package. Previous versions have included ADT within it, but I've failed to find a version of Luna that does.
Thanks
The only Eclipse Version with ADT incluced is Juno yet.
You can try to download the single ADT-Plugin in Eclipse: https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse
If you have the Android SDK installed you also have to add the directories "tools" and "platform-tools" to your environment path.
I'm installing Android Plugin in eclipse, I'm following:
developer.android.com/sdk/installing/installing-adt.html
I download the adt plugin and eclipse asked me to restart, I did it and when it started I got this mistake.
I click the Open Preferences, but I can't find nothing similar to adt in my windows computer. Where should it be this folder? what is usually the name?
Per the Setting Up an Existing IDE (of which the guide you are referencing is a part of):
You should have already downloaded the Android SDK Tools
Download the SDK Tools, then set up your Eclipse ADT Plugin, directing it to the directory you installed the SDK tools into.
I have downloaded the android sdk tools now according to this page I should update it so I go to it's directory and type:
./android
when sdk manager opens I can see that sdk tools is installed but there isn't anything else to do. But since Qt doesn't recognize sdk so I assume I have not completely installed it yet. Is there anything else I should do to complete the installation?
Edit:
I tried somthing else. I downloaded ADT bundle. in that folder there is a sdk folder I used that folder and it worked with qt. But in that directory there are some folders that in my original sdk didn't exist:
extras
platform-tools
system-images
I suggest you to go with ADT Bundle for Linux, you can get it from following link
Android ADT for Linux
Extract the downloaded package.
Download OpenJDK for Linux and install
Update QT if necessary
Add your location of SDK to QT
Now you might be able to run Eclipse from your ADT location
ADT bundle contains
Eclipse + ADT plugin - A Customized eclipse with location of Android SDK is presetted
Android SDK Tools - Inside tools folder, contains android SDK services like Emulator, Hierarchy viewer, SQLite etc
Android Platform-tools - Contains the Compiler runtime, ADB etc
The latest Android platform - Contains each and every android versions you have downloaded with platform specific samples and themes for emulator
The latest Android system image for the emulator - Contains a system image for each of the emulator for the platforms you downloaded
Download Android SDK for Linux from Here
Extract the folder.
Now navigate to eclipse folder and run eclipse from there. android sdk is already integrated in this eclipse package and you will also get the latest SDK with this package.
UPDATE: Directory path for QT
Android SDK Location: /home/vipul/dev/android-sdk-linux
Android SDK Location: /home/vipul/dev/android-ndk-r8e
JDK Location: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-i386
Which android sdk should be downloaded with eclipse galileo 3.5 version. and what ADT Plugin should be installed? i downloaded android sdk 1.6 and initially installed adt 0.7 plugin but it said adt needs to be updated. but now when im trying to update the adt to 16 it shoes the following error:
Your original request has been modified.
"Android Development Tools" is already installed, so an update will be performed instead.
Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.

Missing requirement: Android Traceview 16.0.1.v201112150204-238534 (com.android.ide.eclipse.traceview.feature.group 16.0.1.v201112150204-238534) requires 'org.eclipse.core.runtime 3.6.0' but it could not be found
http://developer.android.com/sdk/eclipse-adt.html
you can see ADT 16.0.0+ requires Eclipse Helios (Version 3.6), so I think you need ADT 15.0.1
Doing a quick search i found this:
how to install android sdk on eclipse 3.5
You download the SDK for your OS.
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
If you use windows, I recommend the exe file for you.
http://developer.android.com/sdk/eclipse-adt.html
http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html
You can download the Android SDK from http://developer.android.com/sdk/
index.html.
Once the SDK is downloaded, unzip its content (the android-sdk-windows folder)
into the C:\Android\ folder, or whatever name you have given to the folder you just
created.
Once Eclipse is up and running, select the Help >> Install New Software
In the Install window that appears, type http://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse in the text and click Add
You may reinstall the eclipse by the following steps
Install jre7 with Netbeans
install eclipse
install ADT
in the step 3, you are asked to install Android SDK version by which package. click the top option
