EditText in Header of ListView is uneditable - android

I have an EditText in the Header of a ListView along with a Spinner and Button. For some reason, the EditText is not allowing me to type within it. The soft keyboard pops up and a cursor appears in the box onclick, and the keyboard recognizes that I am typing, however nothing appears in the box.
Here's the java for the onCreate that handles making the header.

Creating dynamic linearlayout with textviews on it

I am pretty new in Android.
I have some problems to create a dynamic LinearLayout programmatically.
I actually have some information in ArrayLists that I need to display. The problem is that I don't know how many items are in the ArrayList, so I need to create the same layout (LinearLayoutChild) for every item in the ArrayList.
For example, I have created this (in this case, let's say the ArrayLists have 2 items each)

Sounds like a good use case for Android's ListView. From Google's documentation:
ListView is a view group that displays a list of scrollable items. The list items are automatically inserted to the list using an Adapter that pulls content from a source such as an array or database query and converts each item result into a view that's placed into the list.
To go this route, update main.xml to include a ListView element -- and move the LinearLayoutChild into its own XML file.

You need to create the linearlayouts and textviews dynamically, using routines like this:

After you have loaded the schema, you find the view that you want to insert the linearLayouts into like this:

You then add a linearlayout to a view like this:

Then you add textviews to the LinearLayout like this:

Do the following. Get your data and fill a linearLayout container during runtime after you have retrieved / created your data. Here is an example for creating the views.

TextView taller than containing TableRow after calling spinner.setdapter() in same row

I have a xml view that I'm inflating. I'm then doing a network call and with the results populating all these spinners. This is what the view looks like before I call setadapter on the spinners.
However, when I call spinner.setadapter(), my last TextView gets cut off.
As you can see, the TextView is larger than the TableRow.

Adding TextView(s) via java android but inserting blank views

With help of a suggestion from another answer I wrote the below code. But for some odd reason, it displays the text for the first TextView just fine and then, every other TextView below it is a blank! I tried many different ways but unable to figure it out. Someone please assist me..THANKS!

Trying to use a listview in .xml with a cursor but without a ListActivity

I'm stumped as to how to properly implement an adapter that can pull a column of data from my sqlite database and add it to a listview (based on the android-provided multiple checkbox). All of the existing examples use the following:

If I use a ListActivity and don't invoke the layout on Creation, I can get it to work, but I need the wrappers around that ListView, and I can't make the .addHeader and .addFooter methods work for me. Any help on creating the proper adapter would be appeciated.
Answered it with some help. Several things were wrong, mostly in the list.xml:

This allows you to tie the ListView to that element in the xml. You don't have a name for it, but you can use getListView() in the onCreate method to access it.
