i am a newbie in flash programming. i got a issue with adobe air. As i have done all the things with Air for android. I tested with air in android sdk emulator. everything's working fine but the thing is How to run flash android apps without installing adobe air? Are there any tools or converters available for this. If any please suggest me.
Thanks.
Captive Runtime on Android since AIR 3.0 won't need to have AIR installed as the runtime will be bundled within the app.
If you're using Flash Builder, go through Captive Runtime packaging in Air 3.0.
If not, follow this : Installation and deployment options in Adobe AIR 3
But if you want to use Flex or Flash, you need Air. Otherwise
you can use another cross-platform tool, like Phonegap.
Or if you want small, lean apps, with maximum device compatibility, nothing compares with using Java and the stock Android SDK.
If you're using Flash Professional then go to the steps
go to in publish settings tab and click on Target settings icon
put your general information and go to the Deployment Tab
choose your certificate and fill password then
select radio button of Device release
next is select radio button of Embed AIR runtime with application
if your Device is connected then click the check box of Install application on the connected Android Device.
then Publish It.
Note: this steps is showing in Flash Professional cs5, cs5.5 and cs6 maybe because i am using cs6 so check it first
Enjoy
You can use the captive runtime option, which packs air into the native application package. Other than that, you don't have any other option to deploy your app other than converting it to native Java code.
If you're using FlashDevelop, there's a file called PackageApp.bat in your main app directory. Just run it, and there you can choose to build normal, debug and captive runtime, for android and ios.

After further researches, I found that for making android apps with AIR technologies, it requires AIR runtime on the android device, and Flash professional CS5, then, youn can publish your flash project under apk extension, even install it as an android application automatically after publishing it, if you are connecting your device via usb cable, and you are already installed the sdk tools with the usb connector package if you're on windows.
So all of this is great, but, I only have the apk extension of the app, with a file called main.swf, i want to know that if I use the Flash professional cs5 to open the main.swf file, will I be able to modify fields labels for example, and then translate the labels from english to french ?. if not, what is the right way to translate an app made by Flash, when you only have the apk decompiled of the application containing the swf file ?
Thank you for your answers, i'm here if you need any further explainaitions about my situation.
I am trying to build an application where the webview should handle flash contents.
As most of us are aware of, Adobe has announced it will not support Flash Player browser plugin for Android 4.1 and onward.
Without installing Flash, is it possible to realize it?
I did my part of researches and came along with Captive Runtime where you can have the flash package inside your application, without the need to install flash.
My question is, is it possible to build an android app without using Flash Builder, and have the flash package inside?
Is Adobe Air the only solution in my case?
Thanks in advance!
Adobe AIR is the one and only hope. You don't need FLASH here in this context. Make sure you have the Flash Builder 4.6 to build the application, test it with the inbuilt emulator to see how it all goes.
I created a app on the platform Adobe AIR for Android, which requires for AIR. The app is very popular in the Android Market, but many users complain of problems with the installation of Adobe Air runtime.
For example these phones users: LGE LG-P698, LG Pecan, HTC Wildfire. But judging by the fact that users have access to the installation of Air, their phones are compatible with it.
Tell me how do I solve the problem?
In addition, I have a few questions:
Decides whether the problem of export application with embedded AIR runtime?
I build my apps with the help of ADT. How in this case to make embeding AIR runtime?
Is it possible to prompt the user to download and install older versions of AIR? Where to find its?
I hope to help, because the problem is global.
Maybe you could use the captive runtime AIR, which bundles the application with AIR. It produces bigger files, but the installation procedure is simpler, also perhaps the combatibility problems will go away.
You can read more ie. here: http://news.ebscer.com/2013/02/why-you-should-use-the-captive-runtime-for-your-android-apps/ or just google for "android air captive"
I bought an Android phone to use Flash. But to my surprise, Flash does not run on Android devices with arm v6. But I do want to make something useful and develop for it. Does it need to be "unlocked" for this purpose?
Not at all, you can develop Android applications on any Android device. Just make sure that if you want to make use of Google APIs that it's a device that supports those APIs. Also, you'll need to enable development under Settings --> Development (I believe, the location actually varies depending on the version).
Nope, just download the SDK and go. All current phones (that I know of) allow you to do debugging on-device.
If you are developing using the Android SDK or NDK, any phone with Android Market is required to be able to be used as a developer device. If you are trying to develop IN Flash, then you will need a phone capable of Flash (Motorola Droid, any Snapdragon or better processor device) but on Android I don't believe there is a way to package a Flash app onto the device, and the Flash app is always run in the browser.
I have an Adobe AIR desktop application, built in Flex Builder 3, that I want to run on an android device, specifically a Samsung Galaxy Tablet. I have put the application on an emulator, going through the steps of installing AIR on the emulator, packaging the application as an APK, and installing the application on the emulator. However, when I click the application, it does not run.
Here is my question: is this even possible? Can a desktop application be run on a mobile device with no changes to the code, or does it need to be converted to a mobile application before compiling? Thanks for any and all input,
T
So the answer is yes you can deploy that to a mobile device. As far as changes to the code is concerned, the answer is it depends. If it's a simple application, you shouldn't have to change anything.
Since there is no way (from what I understand) to create .apk files in Flex Builder 3, I am assuming you are going through the ADT command line to package it?
And you are following all the steps on
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WSfffb011ac560372f-5d0f4f25128cc9cd0cb-7ffb.html
Once we have that covered, other questions would be: Are you using any modules or a framework? Any error messages?
From what I understand, Android doesn't support mx components, so depending on what you are doing there, yes you might have to change the code in order to make it work for Android.
Hopefully that helps.
