Using Custom AutoCompleteTextView in Android Causes Error - android

I extended AutoCompleteTextView in android. When I use that new custom AutoCompleteTextView in my XML layout file, Eclipse shows an error saying:
You must specify a valid content view by calling setContentView() before attempting to show the popup. Exception details are logged in Window > Show View > Error Log"`.
Edited XML File is:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<com.mypackage.MyAutoCompleteTextView
android:id="#+id/countries_list_custom"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:completionHint="Test">
<requestFocus />
</com.mypackage.MyAutoCompleteTextView>
<TextView android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"/>
</LinearLayout>
By simply taking out my custom view from the XML, the layout shows just fine.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Android Custom View preview in Android studio

I am developing a custom view & I want it displays like Google Ads view below. My view doesn't contain any text view but I still want it to have a preview like that.
Can anyone support me to a solution? Thank you!!
The "tools" namespace might be able to help you here. You can add it with a line like:
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
in your root layout. Things like tools:text will show up in the preview, but not when the app is run. So the following view:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent">
<TextView
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:visibility="gone"
tools:visibility="visible"
tools:text="Preview Text" />
</RelativeLayout>
will show a TextView with "Preview Text" visible in the preview, but it is actually View.GONE and has no text when run.

Graphical layout in eclipse doesn't work with inserted fragment

I'm using Eclipse ADT and I'm having a problem with a layout file. I can open it the internal xml editor, but when I open the Graphical Layout tool, it doesn't show anything, as if there was no xml file there.
This is the xml code
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
android:orientation="vertical"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
tools:context="com.hermes.view.activities.SubTaskActivity" >
<fragment
android:id="#+id/map_fragment"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="0dp"
android:layout_weight="35"
android:layout_marginBottom="15dp"
android:name="com.hermes.view.fragments.MiniMapFragment"/>
<ListView
android:id="#+id/list_subtaks"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="0dp"
android:layout_weight="60" />
</LinearLayout>
Note: I wanted to show a screenshot of the Graphical Layout tool, but StackOverflow doesn't allow it for reputation stuff :/
Is this an eclipse bug or am I doing something from with the xml file. I must also say that this only happens if I put a fragment in the xml file; if I remove the fragment tag, the problem disappear, but I need to see the design with the fragment in it !.
Thanks for the help

dynamically changing custom view as common footer in android application

In my android app i want to put a common footer for all the activities. I created a custom view which extends Relative Layout, which contains a ImageView. It'll change the source for every 10 sec depends upon the data from server. I had put my custom view class in every activity's XML file also.
Now my problem is, i'm unable to find the way how it will instantiated in every activity means how the result view will added to every activity.
Simply, i want Admob Advertisement like feature in my application.
This is One of my Activities XML layout:
Activity.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<RelativeLayout xmlns:tools="http://schemas.android.com/tools"
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:layout_margin="0dp"
>
<RelativeLayout
android:id="____"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
>
----
----
</RelativeLayout>
<com.ninepstudio.movieme.activities.Banner
android:id="#+id/banner"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
android:layout_below="#id/activity_movies_layout" />
</RelativeLayout>

Android following class could not be found

I'am trying to load a spinner to my layout and keep geting this error:
The following classes could not be found:
- Spinner (Change to android.widget.Spinner, Fix Build Path, Edit XML)
heres my xml:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="match_parent"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<Spinner
android:id="#+id/spn_dates"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:onClick="displayDatesToSpiner" />
<ListView
android:id="#+id/LST_bought_products"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="302dp" >
</ListView>
</LinearLayout>
Thanks
This sometimes happens when you rename the standard AppTheme in your android manifest. It will build and deploy just fine, but the xml design editor won't render it.
This is usually because there's an invalid attribute somewhere.
Remove the onClick and it will work.

Android - Layout error

I'm trying to create a button. I've done something like this before, but now I got an error and I' can't find out what is it. I think i've got the problem in the xml file, but can't find it :S
So there is my XML:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent"
android:orientation="vertical" >
<RelativeLayout
android:layout_width="fill_parent"
android:layout_height="fill_parent" >
<ImageButton
android:id="#+id/login"
android:layout_width="wrap_content"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_marginLeft="115dp"
android:layout_marginTop="80dp"
android:src="#drawable/login_button" />
</RelativeLayout>
I'm trying to implemet some kind of facebook login. I'm using the easyfacebook sdk. So here is the java code where i trying to implement the login button:
http://pastebin.com/brHmJKs1
The messages i get is the following:
W/webcore(29941): Can't get the viewWidth after the first layout
E/SkLayout_wtle(29941): layout error:106 width:0 ellipsizedWidth:0
W/InputManagerService(1171): Window already focused, ignoring focus gain of: com.android.internal.view.IInputMethodClient$Stub$Proxy#405c4e68
First close your first LinearLayout in last line.Secondly remove RelativeLayout, that is of no use and then try i hope you will get success.
