Creating a longer page in Android Studio

I am creating a revision app and I want to add notes to the app.
How do I add lots of text to one screen (I have already tried adding a TextView but there is not enough room to fit it all in is there a way to make the screen longer (with a scroll down))?
I am new to android and your help will be appreciated.

Yes you can make your screen scrollabel by adding just a few lines in
AndroidManifest.xml. Here is an example.

Android dialog with ListView

I have a problem with a dialog with some buttons and a ListView.

The problem is now, if I have a lot of records in the ListView, the button below disappears and it is not possible to scroll down.
I tried this with a ScrollView, but failed because it is not possible to use that with a ListView.
I want that the buttons below the listview always stay at the bottom and that the ListView is scrollable.
Can somebody please give me a hint?

Change your list view to this:

Working with relative layout in android XML

I am trying to create a layout in XML something along of the lines of http://i.stack.imgur.com/aPoeU.png but I am little confused as to how to position the buttons in that format. I have created the buttons and tried different things like alignParentBottom, alignParentRight etc but I can't seem to get it the way I want it to be. Can someone please help me out?

Your code seems correct, but if you want to replicate the size of the buttons then you can't set the height as wrap_content. This will make it as tall as the text, change that to some given value:
android:layout_height="50dp"

Well, in RelativeLayout, as the name suggests, the elements are positioned relative to something else, like the parent view, or another widget in the layout. So you can align the widget in many many ways, like apending it to the right of a view, to the left, above, below, and so on.

So, if you want to make your buttons look exactly like your example image, try this:

You can simply make the button width to fill_parent instead of align left and right. And the height, you can define the measures you'd like to use.
Btw, I used alignParentLeft and alignParentStart because I don't know which API level you're using, so I've used both parameters, old and new. But the effect is the same, your buttons will always start to the left of the parent view.
EDIT: As the user hasternet suggested, you could also use LinearLayout and get similar results.
EDIT 2: And if you like to change the look of your buttons, try to change the style (Take a look here to know what I mean).

Since you need to set the height of the buttons differently and also it depends on different screen size, you cannot achieve this with Relative Layout.
So go for LinearLayout and weightsum attribute. This way screen big or small, you can achieve your expected UI. Mentioned code below modified.

EditText on focus scroll up without resize other views

I'm trying to get an EditText field to scroll over my cameraPreview when selected. However it is now resizing the cameraPreview. I would be content with a adjustPan behaviour however I want the actionBar to stay on screen. I suspect it could be done with a scrollView however uptill no I can't prevent the cameraPreview from resizing.

Finally decided to scroll the whole view including the action bar

I have been searching for the solution for a long time ,finally I got it;
It's simple,
First, use scroll_view as your View which has a edit_text child;
Second, use a Relative_Layout(Linear_Layout is useless) as the child of your Scroll_View
Then,you can see it works
notes: (1)Do not use layout_align_Parent_Bottom ,user layout_below instead
(2)You have no need to specify window_Soft_Input_Model,the default is OK;

You need to ensure four things:
Your outside LinearLayout has layout_height="match_parent"
Your inside LinearLayout has layout_weight="1" and layout_height="0dp"
Your TextView has layout_weight="0"
You've set the gravity properly on your inner LinearLayout: android:gravity="center|bottom"
Notice that fill_parent does not mean "take up all available space". However, if you use layout_height="0dp" with layout_weight="1", then a view will take up all available space (Can't get proper layout with "fill_parent").

You can use a RelativeLayout and align it to the bottom with android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"

Create Relative layout and inside that layout create your button with this line
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"

You can do this by taking a Frame layout as parent Layout and then put linear layout inside it. Here is a example:

In my case I was trying to put a complete Linear Layout at the bottom in Linear Layout. When I tried using the "layout_gravity" to bottom it was not working. So I changed the root layout to the Frame Layout and it worked perfectly.
So If you want to put a layout at bottom try using Frame Layout and put everything else inside a nested Linear or Relative Layout.
